  1. Hey guys. After weeks of planning I think I'm going to finally buy all the parts for my PC. Here is the list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/4dfdf7 It's not complete though because I couldn't find some items on the lists because I'm buying from a store here in Portugal. This is the ram: KINGSTON PC3-14900 1866MHZ 8GB HYPERX FURY BLUE CL10 (2X4GB) DDR3 http://www.alientech.pt/product_info.php?products_id=25022 This is the SSD And Hard-Drive: KINGSTON SSD HYPER X FURY 120GB 2.5" SATA III http://www.alientech.pt/product_info.php?products_id=26430 HITACHI TRAVELSTAR 7K1000 1TB 7200RPM 32MB SATA III 2.5" http://www.alientech.pt/product_info.php?products_id=24672 the case: NOX COOLBAY VX RED DEVIL http://www.alientech.pt/product_info.php?products_id=19106 and the optical drive: LITE-ON DVDRW IHAS124 BULK http://www.alientech.pt/product_info.php?products_id=12520 Guys honestly I put up this build to be cheap and for Gaming. I have one question to make. Is there anything you would change? Is the PSU good enough? (I'm really afraid it's going to die on me after a while)
  2. So I was having a conversation with a friend and he said he needed a full set of water cooling for his 4790. So i thought to my self that some water cooling sets are expensive. If I'm not overclocking the CPU and I'm gaming heavy games with a GTX970 is it necessary to have a Cooler for the CPU like a Cooler Master 212 Evo for example or a water cooling one? Or the stock cooler that comes with the processor is good enough?
  3. Hey guys, I am building a new computer for Gaming. I'm going with the Gigabyte GTX970 G1 Gaming WINDFORCE for the Graphics Card BUT for the CPU I'm completely confused because I don't really know which one to choose. So I'm gonna expose my fears. 1st - Before starting my research and learning a lot more about computers I thought that i7s were better (bigger number thing) but that always isn't the case. So some people started saying to me buy the i5 4690 but I had one in mind. the i7 4790. I looked at the specs and if I'm not mistaken the i5 has no HyperThreading and 4 cores and 4 threads while the i7 has hyperThreading and 4 cores and 8 Threads. So my ultimate question is: which one should I get for gaming? Is Hyper-Threading needed at all in Gaming? Would I have any advantage in having the i7 over the i5 while gaming? The games I will be playing will be Ryse: Son of Rome, Total War Games, Metal Gear Solid 5, AAA games in general.
  4. @Rodneyg87 @ShadowCaptain Thanks guys. I think I will do that. This will be my first PC bought with my own hard earned money I'm being very careful and trying to learn the most I can
  5. Hey wow so many answers, thanks for the input. I'm gonna try to address everyone here. @Rodneyg87 @ClubGaming_ @ilikemacandpc @ShadowCaptain Yes I may plan on going for SLI later. The thing is right now the pc is the main focus and the monitor comes later. My budget is around the 2000 € I intend to play AAA games like Ryse: Son of Rome, Mgs 5, Assassin's Creed, Batman Arkham Series, Total War games etc.. I think you guys get the point. Because I do intend to do a big upgrade on the monitor later. And if I game at 1080p with a 980 is it simply overkill? Or will it affect performance or any functioning part of gaming in any way? Thanks for the answers guys, I'm here to learn. Any helpful links (if you have them) please share
  6. Hey guys, I hope you can help me I decided to post another topic with another planned build. Here is the link for the parts: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/d8cnMp My monitor right now is a pretty normal one. Maybe later I'll upgrade to a better one around the 1920x1080 resolution. I won't be playing in 4K or with double-monitor setups and such. Is this build any good? A friend recommended it for me but I'm always afraid and I always like to hear many opinions. Feel free to criticize it and maybe include some points of improvement
  7. Yes that is an option. And I noticed the motherboard doesn't support that? any recommendation?
  8. Hey thanks for the reply Can you explain more about the relation between refresh rate of the monitor and gtx970 or 980? Or any graphics card at that? Or any link useful so I can learn more about it?
  9. Thanks for the tip and I added the link in the post
  10. Hey guys, I'm new here (only registered yesterday) but I've been watching linustechtips for quite a while. Well, my birthday is in May and I wanted to scout out components and prices until then to really get a really nicely built computer but I think I need help. My budget is around 1500 € to 2000 € TOPS General Information about planned build so far: I really would like to play my games with 60 FPS (don't need the 4K capability I guess) and play games quite demanding like Ryse: Son of Rome and other AAA games like MGS 5, Assassin's Creed, etc... I'm thinking of getting this one for the Graphics Card: Asus STRIX-GTX980 link http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00O11Z0H2/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3TX069Q62XQDO&coliid=I1B3UAZNBIX2WC I've heard good things about this card and I think it is a good choice. for the CPU: Intel Core i7 i7-4790K CPU But now is where I stumble. I need wifi on this computer. Is there any good Motherboard that has that included or do I always have to get it separate? And I always get confused about getting a Motherboard. Any recommendations? Is this one any good? http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00E5YV826/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3TX069Q62XQDO&coliid=I1XIWLQZAHU9LS Now for the Power Supply and the Cooler I really don't know what to pick guys. I always feel overwhelmed. I really need some help in these areas. Should I include an SSD and a Hard-Drive? What benefits can I get from both? Another thing I am afraid is getting a case that doesn't fit all. All I see is cases without space for optical drives and I'm like whaaaaaat? Is this a thing now? I really love my physical copies and I have quite a few and I would love to have an optical drive. PC PART PICKER LINK for one suggested to me: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tN9pWZ I will always update my topic with any relevant information and I hope you guys can help me to learn more and build a great machine.
