  1. Question for you however. Given the pricing and availability in my region (US), how happy are you with your 3700x? I've been wondering if I should save some $ since it still seems like a gainful upgrade over my current CPU for gaming and VR.
  2. Definitely glad I have the GPU that I do. Unfortunately have to wait for the GPU market to cool down but it's in mind for my next upgrade. Thanks for the recommendation on going for a lower spec motherboard (just have to make sure I can do that bios flash thing for Zen 3). I'll look into that PSU list, and good case recommendations.
  3. Hey everyone, hope y'all are enjoying yourselves. I may have the opportunity to upgrade in the coming weeks but I'm having a hard time deciding parts. I'd be purchasing the parts in the US and my budget limit is $1000 My current build: CPU i7 6700 (non-k edition / no OC) Motherboard HP IPM17-DD (v1.04) (This was ripped from a HP prebuilt so I could use the intel CPU) GPU Red Devil 5700XT (no OC) RAM Micron 2x8GB 1866MHz DDR3 (pulled from some old prebuilt) PSU Seasonic m12II 750w 80+ Bronze (admittedly I've lost the bag of spare cables) Storage Mushkin REACTOR 1TB SSD Case Fractal Design Define R4 (It's a little too large, missing a side panel, and its extra parts) Please note: I have a pretty good time with how this PC runs but I feel there is definitely room for improvement. What do I use my rig for? Mostly gaming. Valve Index, and a large variety of pancake games, as well as using Ableton. What am I looking for? More stability and power for games. For VR I would like to push over 90Hz with high-ish settings without dropping as many frames. Pancake games I want to push for 120fps @ 1440p with high to max-ish settings. I have experience in the past with overclocking AMD FX chips and AMD cards so I would like to return to being able to push my hardware. I know I need more storage and would like a new case. Some parts I feel are dated or relatively low spec like the motherboard, and maybe the RAM? Where do I stand in terms of my GPU/CPU and looking to upgrading? Parts I've been looking at: AMD Ryzen 5600x MSI MPG B550 GAMING EDGE Corsair CX 750w 80+ Bronze PC cases under $100 2x8GB DDR4 3600MHz kits So, where do you think my money is best spent? Should I hold off on some things? I recently got new peripherals so I feel like I'm set in that area. Thanks in advance you beautiful people and sorry for my poor formatting abilities.
  4. I love you for many centuries haha. But really this was my first rig I've built and it was perfect until this hiccup but what you suggested fixed it. Thank you!
  5. So guys.. I had just put in my brand new r9 280x, everything working fine, downloaded the latest drivers and with no issues. I opened CS:GO to start benchmarking and the screen went black. So I restarted my computer and the card will show the uefi bios perfectly fine, but when it goes on to load the windows login screen all I get is a black screen where all I can see is my cursor (as well as move it around). I have tried going back onto my old Quadro FX 580 (which displays perfectly fine) and uninstall/reinstall driver but to no avail, getting the same problem once I switch back to the 280x. My Computer parts: Gigabyte 990FX-UD3 (rev 4.1) AMD FX 8320 Sapphire R9 280x SeaSonic M12II 750W Bronze 80+ running on Windows 8.1 64-bit
  6. My 1TB is a Seagate internal HDD 7200 so it would make a good secondary drive. The R4 has a built in fan controller that can power 3 (3-pin) fans to 5V, 7V, and 12V. That will be for the Artic fans and the Fractal Desing fans (2) will run at full speed off of the mobo (I don't care all too much about noise, I just don't want a leaf blower on my desk. I've looked into the H100i but decided to start off with air for now and see where my limitations are and when I'm comfortable with putting something like that in my rig.
  7. Alright guys, slight subject change. What would be the next step disregarding cpu/mobo. Such as an SSD, or a better wifi adapter because unfortunately in my current living situation its my only option unless I start drilling holes in the house (which I can't do).
  8. So in the end I didn't make the worst or best price for performance. Alot of these components I will use when I upgrade, getting rid of the mobo/cpu first. Thank you guys though I do value all of your opinions . Next time I wont be so hasty when buying parts. I could always return the mobo and cpu if I wanted to as well.
  9. The fans are for airflow management. I was going more on the safe side to give myself options when I start overclocking, and I wont be getting a new case for a long time I believe.
