  1. Hmm, is there something I'm missing about this board that makes it better than the ASUS Tuf board? I appreciate your reply
  2. Is there any point of getting either DDR5 Ram or a B760 Motherboard? @brob@RONOTHAN##. Both would be more expensive and blow my budget out of the water
  3. Yeah I like my USB ports LOL. Yeah, I know they make hubs but as far as I know you don't get the full speed if you use a hub? Cooler wise, the cooler is 160mm and the case fits up to 170mm. Definitely going with the SN750 because it's on sale
  4. Thanks for your reply @RONOTHAN##. I didn't see a bios flashback button on the back IO of the motherboard of either the Asus TUF or MSI MAG, but usually the retailer I go to does it for free. Thanks for your other suggestions
  5. Budget (including currency): $1275 (Total budget is 1800, but I already bought the GPU for $525 used) Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly gaming and photoshop Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Resolution: 1440p @ 144hz. No other perpherials required. Upgrading from a laptop with intergrated graphics. The only upgrades planned getting a better GPU in a few years and adding RAM/storage when needed. Notes on the build guide: I already bought the GPU used because according to the seller it wasn't used for mining. I chose a motherboard with WIFI because I don't want to use an PCIE wifi or usb wifi card My friend would like it to be a MicroATX form factor in case she needs to move A few questions: 1. PCpartpicker says that the motherboard and the CPU is incompatible. I thought B660 supports 13th Gen, just no overclocking right? (I believe as long as I buy the CPU and Motherboard from the same retailer, they will help me update BIOS on the motherboard) 2. I've never bought a Deepcool power supply, but with some research it seems like Seasonic makes the power supply and Deepcool just rebrands them. In that case, the power supply I listed should be good right? 3. How is the build list overall? Did I miss anything major? I appreciate everyone's time and help. Thank you
  6. @Sir0Tek yeah I don't want to chance it because if the power supply fails, the whole system may fail (ie motherboard and gpu fried)
  7. @191x7 You may be right about the cpu bottleneck, but I was under the impression that a 4th gen i5 or i7 would be good enough still for gaming. I don't think he needs it for anything else (video editing, cad rendering, etc.). I also told him he should consider building a Ryzen 3600 system and wait until he has more money. He's thinking about it but for now i'm trying to get as much information as I can. @GDRRileyI'll take a look at xeon chips that correspond with the socket. Do you have any recommendations? I have never bought used stuff but I mean scrapyard wars does say something when budget is tight.
  8. @Daniel Z.You bring up a good point, I forgot to mention resolution. Yes he's running 1080p but I may be shooting myself in the foot here but shouldn't he get at least a 5700xt so that he doesn't have to upgrade his gpu again when he does decide to get a new monitor? The power supply is also 5 years old according to my friend which may be a factor?
  9. @Mirano Good idea. If he asks for my help to install everything i'll prob repaste his cpu and dust everything. @GDRRiley@Plouffe@GoldenLag So what I'm gathering is that my friend's gpu is basically obsolete and he will need to get a new power supply. Should I get a 2070 super if it goes on sale (for boxing day) or just get a 5700xt non reference card regardless? Thanks everyone
  10. Hello everyone, Happy Holidays to all. Anyways, my friend wants to upgrade his gpu to like a 2070 Super. He's located in Vancouver, Canada. I'm not sure if his power supply will be able to handle the new gpu? Any thoughts? His Current Build is I5-4670K 8GB Ram GTX 760 And the power supply in question: Thermaltake Smart 750w 80+ Bronze. (Picture is attached but I think it's this one: https://www.amazon.ca/Thermaltake-Smart-Bronze-Supply-SP-750PCBUS/dp/B00A00LR6G?th=1) His budget is about $600Cad before taxes Thanks for everyone's time and help!
  11. @Ramrod126 Thanks for your suggestion! @Constantin May I ask why they are both useless?
  12. Hey Everyone, I'm currently running a RTX 2080ti. I'm currently looking to buy a new monitor. My current specs that I’m looking for is 2560x1440p, 144hz. I’m located in Vancouver, Canada. Does GSync matter? I was planning to get the Gigabyte AORUS AD27QD (https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/RPCD4D/gigabyte-aorus-ad27qd-sa-270-2560x1440-144-hz-monitor-aorus-ad27qd-sa) or the Acer - VG271U Pbmiipx (https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/b8VD4D/acer-vg271u-pbmiipx-270-2560x1440-144-hz-monitor-vg271u-pbmiipx). However, the Aorus one is officially G-sync Compatible whereas the Acer one has a review that states that it will work with G-sync (https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/ayflnj/mini_review_of_the_acer_nitro_vg271u_pbmiipx/). The Acer one looks cheaper and I really don’t need the noise cancelling function of the Aorus one but apparently the Aorus has better picture reproduction and colour accuracy. I don’t mind investing in a G-Sync monitor if it’s actually worth the extra cost. Therefore, is there a recommended G-Sync monitor I should get or should I just stick with the Acer or Gigabyte monitor? Thanks for your time and sorry for the long post!
  13. You have a point; I'm just asking in case there is a weird Windows bug. It would be ideal since there should be a good amount of money saved. Anyone know if this is a good monitor for fps gaming: MSI Optix MAG27CQ? I noticed that it is VA so it should be better in picture quality and viewing angles right?
