  1. I figured I'd make this thread to make life easier for people to give advice and feedback on your proposed system. If you add these simple answer it means we don't have to ask you all this before we can give you answers :)

    1. Budget & Location

You may have listed a heap of parts that all add up to your preferred budget but it is easier if you just list the total amount you'd like to spend and the currency as well as if you'd consider going above that budget for more performance. We need the location as well because $US are different to $AUD and $CAD ect.

    2. Aim

What is the system going to be used for? Web browsing, 3D work? Different systems need different levels of performance - a computer based for web browsing and office use won't handle heavy graphic design and video editing and a proper video editing system isn't good for gaming. If your aim is for gaming, please list what sort of gaming. In the same way that different usage types need different systems, you'll need a lot more power to run Far Cry 3 or Crysis 2 than you would Minecraft.

    3. Monitors

How many monitors do you plan on running? Do you plan on moving to more monitors in the future? What resolution are they at too?

    4. Peripherals

Do you also need to purchase peripherals such as keyboards and mice as well as monitors ect. Also please tell us if you'll need an OS such as Windows.

    5. Why are you upgrading?

We ask this because you may see upgrading as the only path to solve an issue but things such as driver updates, reconfiguration or cleaning can boost performance without spending a cent.

Please copy and paste the major dot points into your thread as it makes it easier for us to give you better feedback.

Have fun and keep building :)

I just spent 5 minutes watching your avatar, awesome avatar.

  2. Don't worry, tcp doesn't limit you to local. So long as firewalls allow your connection, you can communicate with anyone.

You can make this on any platform as well. Web app (internet browser), desktop app (Windows, Mac, etc), mobile app (iOS, Android, etc). They can all be made to communicate with each other because the TCP protocol is standard.

HTML/CSS wont cut it for this kind of thing so you'll want to learn a new language. PHP, Python, Java, C#, etc are just a few examples of the languages you can use.

Thanks for the information, I'd like it to be a desktop app, compatible with Windows first of all then work on other platforms.

Okay, so I'll try Python cuz it seem easier than the others, I'll start from there.

Found this, is it useful? and what kind of language is it?

  3. This can be made in many languages and requires some basic networking programming. For example, you can use tcp sockets (but there are other options).

Is there any language you already know a bit of?

I will google the whole thing and you just pointed me in a direction, thanks! So messaging through tcp socket means that it's only through the local network? I want it to work over the internet as well..

I wouldn't say I know any language but basic HTML/CSS.

As @madknight3 said this can be accomplished using a variety of methods. I myself have actually thought about doing something like this before. But never got around to it. Fundamentally, you are only sending strings across the network, unless you intend to allow photos and videos etc, in which case your on your own for figuring that out. String are pretty easy. I would say Java would be a good language as it would allow your software to pretty easily run on any os

Photos and videos should be allowed too, but in restricted formats and sizes.

This is nothing I intend to implement in the beginning, could be useful to know how tho.

I'd like to send a recording of my ugly voice to a friend who works in example Paris?

  4. Brown and Blues are superior to Cherry MX Reds, IMHO.

Never heard of the keyboard but it looks decent enough, if you like it then who cares what anyone else thinks?

Just thought I'd share! I dont really care!

They're rly soft to type on which is nice when you type fast

  5. I think it's all good. Nice setup! What case are you looking for? The 750D is a good option, but there are numerous others, which are not bad either.

Thanks! I like the 750d because of the size and I think my R4 define is too small for SLI and radiators etc. I was going for the 900d but it's oversized :P

you dont need 1000 watts and i'd buy a smaller case.

Thing is I already own the psu :P

  6. So I'm buying new stuff:

    MB : http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5125#ov

    Processor : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117404

    RAM : http://pricespy.co.uk/product.php?p=2782245

    PSU: http://www.corsair.com/en/rm-series-rm1000-80-plus-gold-certified-power-supply

GPU: I got 2x Titans so I'll keep them.

I got 3x ASUS VG248qe screens on 24" mounted on my desktop, could provide you with pictures if want to!

    Chassi: http://www.corsair.com/en/obsidian-series-750d-full-tower-atx-case

So I just want to know what you think: Is it bad, is it good, What would you have bought instead.

I can say that I will need help with overclocking that beast processor and I will look for that help here on this forum ;).

And I am uncertain if that is the chassi for me, I would prefer one that is Sound dampened.

  7. Have you tried running in windowed mode, then switching to fullscreen?

That's an issue i've had in the past with one monitor...

WELCOME TO THE LTT FORUMS!!!  :D I hope you enjoy your stay

Please read the C.O.C (in my signature) and if you'd like, change your theme to 'Night' (directions located in my signature)

Hey I just tried windowed, and that didnt work, I tried borderless windowed and then I can play all of a sudden. but when I changed to fullscreen the same problem happened. I cant use my mouse/keyboard and I have to quit the game through task manager.

  8. So I've set up 3 Asus 24" VG248Qe 144hz screens.
I have enabled SLI and Surround. I got World of warcraft to work proper with no difficulties what so ever on ultra settings nice fps nice gameplay all that nice stuff.
But The problem now is Battlefield 4. I have set the resolution to 5760*1080 and the loadscreen goes on the middle screen while the other two are dark, but when I get in the game I cant use my mouse or keyboard, it's stuck in the menu and I can't do anything.

Is there anyone that knows of this problem and could help?

I have 2 GTX Titan cards.
