  1. well I don't mind switching teams if one is really doing better than the other haha
  2. oh okay I didn't know about it not mattering if I already get 60 fps and above... I thought like no matter what you do you'll get this tearing or stuttering without G-sync
  3. I'll have a 970 and upgrade soon after to 970 SLI
  4. well I don't really care about 144hz or 120hz, I just thought I'd benefit from G-sync even with 60hz
  5. aw man I didn't know that the ROG swift is the only one with G-sync... well I guess this closes it then but would you guys say that even on 60hz, G-sync would still give improvements?
  6. just wanted to know for future purposes... by beautiful I'm guessing you could think of it as an IPS monitor or whatever else is better definitely doesn't need to go beyond 60hz, just G-sync so that any gaming experience would be fluid and nice (I'm not even entirely sure yet if I want g-sync but that's why I made this post) and lastly I want/need it to be as accurate with colors as possible, well as accurate while still having g-sync at 1440p that is. since I'll be using it for video editing, as well as wanting a very nice gaming experience. if I'm missing anything please just ask
  7. now that's a nice time estimate! probably by 2017 there'll be more optimized games along with better optimized GPUs for 4k or even 8k! then I'll just skip 4k and go straight to 8k hehe
  8. thanks now that's a definite & clear answer that I was looking for! how much of a difference is there between the 1440p and 1600p? and how about the lifespan of the 970 SLI, meaning in probably a year or two would the new games released still be playable at the same settings for 1440p and 1600p? or the higher resolution of the 1600p force me to step down the settings? I'm really taking all this into consideration and just want the best bang for my buck
  9. so are you giving the answer for 1440p? and I'm already eyeing the Dell U2713H for 1440p since here in the Philippines there are some that sell it for half the price of the Asus PB278Q because it came from Japan or something (I'm not really sure why it's cheap but I'll test it to see if there isn't anything fishy about it)
  10. was it okay even if you didn't have AA on?
  11. the only thing I'm worried about 1440p is when newer games come out and the 970 SLI won't get to do ultra settings on them anymore without sacrificing fps. I was also worried about the SLI support which is why I made a different post about a week ago asking on that, and most of the people here said that the games that would probably require the extra SLI horsepower would support SLI
  12. I'd rather make the most use of a 970 SLI with ultra settings at a solid 60fps
  13. just want to know which can be played with any games at maxed out settings with a reasonable GPU set up (970 SLI for me as an example) since I'm just transitioning from my PS3 to a powerful PC set up I thought that I could easily max out anything at my old 1080p plasma tv, but I also thought that I might be under utilizing my gear. I'm guessing the top contenders would be 1440p and 1600p since 4k seems to still need very demanding GPUs to run some AAA games on the verge of ultra (I'm looking at you 980 SLI). I'd also like to add that I don't care about 120hz or 144hz and such, I'm pretty much okay with 60hz for now while maintaining a great gaming experience that looks good (I'm eyeing Dell monitors, which are known to be of good visual quality), and also to add the fact that I'll be video editing so I'll need color accuracy and such more than the high refresh rates.
  14. of course I won't do 980 SLI for 1080p, that's why I'm bringing up that I'm planning on buying a 1440p or 1600p monitor in the future, and I don't know how big the need for a better GPU will be when it comes to upgrading resolution
  15. probably just the older games then? the newer games probably support them now
  16. I am planning on going for the highest graphical settings (and maybe even some texture mods here and there for games that have them) on just 1080p, and probably 1440p or 1600p in the future. probably by the time I get 4k or higher, there will be a more optimized GPU out there for it
  17. yeah, but I'm just wondering if by the time that a 970 SLI run games on high anymore, then there will probably be something better than the 980 already. but same can be said for the 980 SLI I guess... but of course it's just on "which is the better decision"
  18. thanks for that! sorry I don't know what to say yet when it comes to games that will require more horsepower to run at higher settings in the future...
  19. I don't think I'll aim for high refresh rate, as I'm not a competitive gamer. I'd prefer the aesthetics and graphical quality of a well calibrated 60hz monitor like the Dell U2713H or even the Dell U3014 but that's 1600p already, but I just thought since here the price difference is negligible
  20. when you say "for a long time" do you mean that I can run the highest settings up to the next 2 generation of games that'll come out or what? I mean compared to a 980 SLI
  21. I just wondered, since I'm planning on my first ever build. I'm originally planning to buy a 970, then buy another one down the road to make it an SLI, since Linus said that 970 SLI is stronger than a single 980 with just a little difference in price but I remembered from another video testing out 980 SLI vs 970 3x SLI where the 980 is slightly better especially with the temperatures. so if I'll be gaming on 1080p while trying to max out all games I can, and probably upgrading to a 1440p monitor, is a 980 SLI necessary, or should I just stick to a 970 SLI, and by the time that it won't be good enough to run all games at max a new GPU would probably be out that's better than the 980? I hope my thoughts translated well into this, and if there are any other clarifications I'll be happy to tell more so that I can get a clearer answer.
  22. if my DS3 will disappoint me when I finally get to play, then I'll probably go but a DS4 as a last resort
  23. well I probably won't use controllers for FPS games and there are other guys who've posted other software that allow us to use PlayStation controllers without MotioninJoy so I'm still sticking to my past console life via the controller haha
  24. can you share what games don't work with the PlayStation controllers? like any AAA games? I don't think the prompts are gonna be a problem for me, the feel of the controllers are more important in my opinion, and the asymmetrical design of the Xbox controllers just disgust me.
