  1. I'm in the Philippines I can't find that one as well... the only MSI Z97 mobos I could find areMSI Z97 G55 SLI MSI Z97 Gaming 3 MSI Z97 Gaming 5 MSI Z97 Gaming 7 MSI Z97 Gaming 9 AC MSI Z97 GUARD-PRO MSI Z97 MPOWER MAX AC MSI Z97 PC Mate MSI Z97 XPOWER AC MSI Z97I AC MSI Z97I Gaming AC MSI Z97M Gaming of course there are other Z97 mobos from other manufacturers but you recommend MSI so I'm guessing it's the best bang for the buck
  2. and can you recommend a different mobo? I can't find the one you recommended as well
  3. I can't seem to find a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus... instead there's the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo & Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo Turbo Edition Will any of those be good enough or do I need the plus to get the most of the rig?
  4. so what would be a better investment? going with the AMD with the 990 mobo or the intel with the mobo that the others recommended? while considering on both that I might upgrade to either a 9590 or a 4790k
  5. may I ask whats difference in performance brought by a 990 and a 970?
  6. to add info, I'm planning on buying a CPU that would last for a long long time then just upgrade the GPU (if that makes sense), so upgrading to a 4790k isn't in the options for me as of now, especially if it won't really give much help in my video editing (since it's just simple editing no bells and whistles). But if you'll tell me that it'll make a big leap forward with my gaming then I'm all ears.
  7. about $800, but the current build I have set up now is at about $900, but I'm still a noob and want to get cheaper stuff if they're still good. But if it's still gonna be above $800 I can find a way to make the money as long as it's worth it. and BTW the video editing isn't gonna be like 3d rendering or anything fancy, just basic videos like indie films or whatnot
  8. I'm just wondering how much a CPU will affect gaming performance? I'm torn between an AMD Vishera FX-8370E and an Intel Core i5-4460, seeing as they are similarly priced, but with the 8370 having a higher bench mark on cpubenchmark.net. what makes me think of considering the 4460 is that someone told me that it's better for gaming and such. I plan on building a PC that's good for video editing and better for gaming, I thought the whole time that the gaming aspect would just depend on the graphics card. so if the rest of the components were the same (or similar) what would be the best choice?
  9. thanks again! I think I got all the info I needed for the CPU!
  10. hey thanks for the clarity. so the only way for a 8370 to keep up with the 4460 is with a CPU cooler? I mean the 4460 wouldn't need an aftermarket CPU cooler to do great in games and such?
  11. it's really strange, it seems like there isn't any xeon models here in my country, could they be going under a different name at other places? on your personal experience the intel CPUs perform better than the AMD (based on what you said about the 4460 against most fx CPUs)? I'm just getting a little dubious about it since they are at about the same price range yet cpubenchmark.net said that the grade of the 4460 is only about 2/3rds of the 8370. At least the xeon processors you mentioned were still a competition for the 8370 in terms of grade, but the problem is their availability where I'm from.
  12. oh and of course I wouldn't want to bottleneck any of the components so if you guys have thoughts that one of these parts might pull the other down then please enlighten me.
  13. well I'd say that I'm actually on a tight budget, but if the ends justify the means then I'll find a way to make the money to get this build started. if my choices on any of the components seem to be too much for what I need then please enlighten me, I really am still learning how to walk when it comes to this. I guess I'll go with the green one then since it's cheaper AND saves more power.
  14. thanks! I found one for sale and it looks awesome!
  15. hey man I was starting to get interest in your recommendation, but when I searched for it here in my country, it seems like they don't sell that certain CPU... is there an alternative choice that you can suggest? I'm very open to suggestions like the one you made especially if it's cheaper (or similarly priced) and performs better.
  16. thanks for the tip on the CPU cooler I'll consider adding that in. so you'd say I won't need as much ram for decent video editing & gaming? would 8gb be enough? and what speed should I get? 1600? 1866? and sorry in the forums here in my country everybody keeps saying to go with Gskill so I thought it was good enough... how big is the disparity between the different colors of the WD HDDs? I was thinking to buy the green one since its price is almost half of the black one (4tb)
  17. hmm I really am having a difficult time with the case since it's my first build and I really don't know how to choose yet. besides aesthetics would you say the specs of the case is good enough? or will is there a better case that looks more aesthetic, has better specs, with a decent price? with the storage I'm willing to start off with an SSD for now and buy a HDD later on since money is an issue.
  18. help with some constructive criticism please, I'm trying to build a computer that's average for video editing (meaning fast rendering speeds and smooth to use while editing, but not for high end 3d projects and other complicated editing projects), good to great gaming, and of course high quality video watching (which I assume would be there if the first two categories are achieved). I've done some research and also checked page 5000 which is where I based some of my parts from. I just want to know if these parts are worth the money, or if there are other better or equally good parts that are cheaper. Lastly of course I want to know if these parts would even be compatible, or fit with each other. The most I'm unsure of is the case and the size of the graphics card (if the graphics card will fit in with the case, since I've read on other forums that sometimes they don't and you just waste your money). CPU - AMD FX-8370E Eight-Core GPU - Sapphire R9-270X Dual-X OC 2GB DDR5 256bit Boost Full MOBO - am3+ Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 SSD - Crucial MX100 256gb sata RAM - Gskill Ripjaws X 16GB 8gbx2 DDR3 1866 CL10 PSU - Corsair CS650M 650W 80+ Gold Modular Power Supply CASE - NZXT Guardian 921 RB Black Steel If you'll see I only plan on having an SSD for now, any tips on what of HDD would be good for my purposes. EDIT: oh and of course I wouldn't want to bottleneck any of the components so if you guys have thoughts that one of these parts might pull the other down then please enlighten me. and another thing I wanted to add was that I plan on saving the graphics card for last, even though I did say I want this to be for good gaming also, I think I can live on a month or two with the IGPU if it means that I'll get to buy a GPU that's worth it
