is it possible to unlock a bitlocker OS drive if you have the password to it (not TPM dependant) but you don't have the recovery key?
I remember it requiring the recovery key regardless if you plugged it into a PC

As far as I know you only need the password.  I have a bitlocker drive that I plug into 3 different PCs and that's all that's needed.  And, as far as I know, the recovery key is just the hashed password or something like that - basically the same code, that's why it can also unlock it - but stored in a way where you don't need to store the password itself.
