Metro1337 reacted to improbablepants in Vessel is FINALLY in Android Beta
I just got an email from vessel about an android beta already on the play store, and thought I'd share it. it's about time... Personally, I love that they're open to suggestions, and hopefully this will be much better than the site (Which still doesn't support middle click )

well, i was more worried about the prize, i use a G105, so its not even mechanical because of the prize, now having all with infrared would probably be more expensive, also keeping in mind the hardware to administrate so many analog inputs

I just found these by luck, these switches seem to be very interesting.

Metro1337 got a reaction from Ghost in Enermax LiqTech 240 annoying pump noise @12V
Okay, I trusted you and dismounted my pump. Before I packed it up for RMA I decided to let it run once more outside the case / unmounted -> it seems that the pump itself is very quiet indeed (not inaudible, but definitely quieter than if it's mounted). The problem obviously is that it transfers its vibrations onto the motherboard (P8P67 LE Socket 1155) / screws / parts on the motherboard like the CPU directly, which leads to the humming noise in the video.
I now have tried to mount it again, was sitting for like a hour figuring the perfect position of the pump / the perfect strength of the screws. It's a lot quieter now, but I didn't manage to completely eliminate the vibrations and make it run just as loud as it would unmounted so I sent the cooler back in and might rebuy it when I have a new Mainboard.

I upgraded the fans on my Enermax as well . I've had it for a year and my pump is very quiet even when it ramps up . You might have a lemon .

Metro1337 reacted to gilm0re3 in HD Tune HDD Benchmark - speed continuously slows down
This my friend is the wonderful thing about hdds. Because the outside edge spins at a faster speed relative to the inside edge of the disk, and also because the read/write head has less distance to travel to reach the outside of the disk versus the inside of the disk from the "off" position, the outer edge of the disks have a better read and write performance. The graph is simply displaying this phenomenon in action.

In fact, there's a way of leveraging this property of spinning disk drives called shortstroking that basically partitions your drive into the faster outer portion and the slower inner portion of the drive so that you can consistantly have the fastest possible speeds out of the disk, and in particular the outside edge partition.
