  1. Wow, I just found the issue. I went into power management because I remembered that I had switched my power options to High Performance, and I just wanted to make sure the advanced settings were correct. But when I checked under the max Processor Performance setting it was somehow set to 5%. Changed back to Balanced as my power plan, rebooted my game and everything is back to perfect! Thanks for your help though! I appreciate the quick response. Thanks, Dylan
  2. Hey everyone, So I just built a new custom gaming rig this past Christmas, and everything was working great up until the past couple of weeks. I had been playing a couple different games just fine (Minecraft, Guild Wars 2) and was loving the performance. However, I have recently encountered a massive slow down. I can only achieve about 20-25 fps in Minecraft which was much better before and GW2 occasionally dips below 20 in areas with no other players. So I did a bit of research and checked to see what my clock speeds were with Cpu-Z and it is showing that each of my cores is set to 100.0 mhz with a multiplier of x8. What I gather from this (with my limited experience and a bit of research) is that I am severely under-clocked somehow? So I go into the UEFI and try to adjust the clock speed and multiplier, but when I boot my pc and run the test again I get the same results from Cpu-Z. My BIOS are updated and my temps have always been great, around 25C at idle and 40C or so in game. Any ideas? My specs are: Intel i7 4790k Nvidia gtx 970 8GB 1600mhz RAM Azrock z97M Anniversary mobo Thanks, Dylan
  3. @Faceman Alright, I think I'll get up and check just to be safe.
  4. @Faceman Sorry my post wasn't really clear. I would have 49mm with a fan already installed, so with a 27mm rad I would be fine then by the sounds of it. And thanks for the PSUs. I'll keep them in mind. Do you think it would be a good idea to get up tomorrow (black Friday for me) to try to catch sales. Or will most of the stuff come on sale on CM?
  5. @Faceman Ya I saw that it was a customer loop. I was just using that as a reference to say that it looks like a 120 and a 240 rad will both fit in the motherboard section of the case. I looked into clearance a bit more and it says that a GPU up to 290mm will fit with a fan installed in the front. The GPU I have picked is 241mm so that leaves me 49mm for the radiator of the AIO which would be plenty if I'm correct?
  6. @Faceman I read in a couple reviews that it can take up to four rads of different sizes simultaneously. It is hard to believe though. Found this that looks kinda promising(about five posts down). http://adrenaline.uol.com.br/forum/gabinetes-e-case-mod/375773-clube-sff-cases-cubos-thin-clients-htpcs-minitowers-lanboxes-topico-dedicado-338.html If it would work do you think I should go with it rather than the bigger one?
  7. @Faceman The Fractal Design Node 804 is on sale for only 69.99 on Newegg from like 100. It fits the EVO CPU cooler and all I would need is a microATX board which is like a dollar more than the one I have selected. I have only heard good things about this case, and its so small. It also supports up to four radiators simultaneously for upgrading later, and has a side window. Do you think it would be a better choice than the one I had picked?
  8. @Faceman Alright cool, that's incredible that it has gone down that much so quickly. Let's just hope it doesn't drop anymore now with the 25 I have left in the budget what do you think I should look for?
  9. @Faceman Well I got so excited about that RAM that I messed up. The Mobo that I chose for my girlfriends rig is an H85 and doesn't support the 1866mhz RAM. It should still work though right? It will just down clock the RAM to 1600mhz?
  10. @Faceman Oh wow thanks for all the info. So I will keep an eye out for a modular PSU and hopefully I'll pick up that RAM when I get home today. As for the cases I'll look more into all of those. I do like the air 540 I just wish it was a little cheaper. If I'm going to go with the color theme inside then I would like to have a window so I think that one would work well. I'll look at the others too. If I could I would like to stay in that 70-80 dollar range. That would keep my total price around 1100 right now which sounds pretty good.
  11. @Faceman Alright thats awesome. I like your build much more, and its cheaper! I like the look of that RAM much more too, but would it be able to fit with the EVO cause I have heard things about heat spreading RAM being too tall to fit under the CPU cooler? As for that little extra bit that I save what would you recommend. I am honestly hoping that I dont have to upgrade this PC for quite a while and I never plan on going SLI. A 970 should be fine for me and my needs dont you think? Would you recommend that I put a little more money into something like a modular PSU or can I hide it well enough in a case like this to not need the capabilities it provides?
  12. @Faceman Made up a build with a Blue/White color scheme in a bigger case, and it took like $80 off the price of my other build. So I can keep an eye on two sets of parts this way. If my other build doesn't drop much I have this color scheme to go for. I dont want to spend that much more just to keep it black and white and I will live with the bigger case for $40 less. 13. @Faceman Ya I was thinking about looking for different parts used, but the thought of it just scares me. Maybe not so much for a monitor though.
  14. @Faceman Ya that really does seem like a steal. If I werent as tight for money as I am now then I would definitely pick up a couple of those. But I think that I will probably just look for one for like 70-80 or maybe even lower if I can find one this weekend. Neither of us need something that is really spectacular at the moment.
