  1. Hello, Current PC Specs: OS Drive: 250GB Samsung EVO 850 SSD - I have more storage than this it's just not important to the problem CPU: 8700K - Overclock to 4.9Ghz MoBo: Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 7 GPU: Galax GTX 1080 Sniper Edition RAM: Gskill 32GB at 2400Mhz Recently I've been having a problem on my computer where having applications open combined with Destiny 2 or Rainbow Six Siege will cause my computer to have very laggy mouse movements. It has a delay and whips around the screen not following my mouse movements 1 to 1. I have found that turning ShadowPlay off helps a fair bit but even then if I need to turn around really fast or there is a lot happening on screen it can sometimes still have issues causing the mouse to feel slow and whip past whatever I was trying to hit. Closing chrome seems to help but at that point of closing things what's the point I'm meant to have a high end PC that can multitask without having to close things. I have also noticed that when it does these strange sluggish mouse movements that the FPS dips a fair bit. This is also along with the fact that it's not running at what I would consider to be a normal frame-rate either. Before this started happening I would be running at 140+ FPS in Destiny 2 now it's sitting anywhere from just above 60 in the dips to 100 FPS at the highest with it normally resting around 80 to 90 during "normal" gameplay. I would really like to avoid reinstalling my OS as I wouldn't be able to be sure that I saved everything and if I used the windows backup feature I would be worried that the problem could follow over to the new install anyway without wiping the drive. Is there some way I can test to see if it's really my CPU and not my windows install? Would it be fine to install a different motherboard and CPU and just install the drivers for that on my current OS drive? I know that installing lots of drivers on an OS can cause problems. Not to mention that it would be going from an intel CPU and MoBo to a AMD Ryzen CPU and MoBo. As a strange obvseration I recently bought the new CoD Modern Warfare and none of this seems to be a problem. I can have chrome and shadowplay on while playing just fine which doesn't make any sense since its a new title. As I said before I have another motherboard and CPU, A Ryzen CPU and MoBo that has its own SSD with a windows install that I was thinking of using and just copying over what I need but things like itunes, and powershell with php and other apps that I have set up aren't just a simple copy and paste. Ryzen Specs: OS Drive: 500GB Samsung 860 EVO SSD - I bought this system recently which is why it has a better SSD than my main rig CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X MoBo: Gigabyte X470 AORUS Gaming 5 WiFi GPU: Galax GTX 1080 Sniper Edition - I take it out of my main system normally RAM: Gskill 32GB at 2400Mhz - Same with ram If you have any tests or ways to help me identify what the problem is I'm all ears. I would like to avoid reinstalling windows but if it comes to that I'll have to spend days making sure I get everything and save all my application settings. I'm happy to post some unlisted videos on YouTube if you would like to see what the problem looks like in action. Cheers for any help
  2. I'm not 100% sure if it will or won't increase gaming performance but as for productivity and the like I'm sure ill see an improvement. I just did a quick price check on a 7700K build and it is cheaper than my Ryzen build by around $150 but at the same time I lose half the cores. If coffee lake drops sometime this year cause i don't think ill be waiting until next year to upgrade as I would really like to be getting 144FPS (proud owner of a ASUS PG279Q ROG Swift) in the games I play, along with increasing the speed and usability of my computer while rendering. I guess waiting a little longer wouldn't hurt and seeing the performance difference between the 7700k and the new coffee lake 8700k or whatever they call it.
  3. Hello Peeps, Lets get straight into this. I currently use my computer for gaming and light content creation for making youtube videos to share with friend along with some streaming from time to time. I currently can't stream as my computer can't handle the load from a cpu stand point and rendering makes my computer useless so i normally set it overnight. My current rig is using the following parts, an Intel core i5 4690k on a MSI Mpower Max AC motherboard, 16Gb of Kingston memory, EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Superclocked ACX 2.0 4GB, powered by a SilverStone Strider Platinum 750W Power Supply. I'm not worried about storage just yet as i still have a fair amount of space and its not currently important to this particular upgrade. So my cpu is making the bottleneck in my current configuration now. At my idle use my cpu runs around 30%~ usage. So where do we go from here, well I've been looking into buying new parts but since the refreshed haswell-e is no longer being produced and is quite expensive getting an i7 4790k would be the only upgrade I could preform but I personally think that it would be a waste of money and would have me upgrading again in a few short months or maybe a year Alright so the choice would be between a i7 7700k or a Ryzen 1800X for something a little more beefy and horse power. Unfortunately money is tight as always so upgrading to an Intel system again would be quite hard but not out of the realm of possibility as I'm open to feedback and am willing to get the best for my money. My current idea was to upgrade to Ryzen with the following build: (These prices are in AUD and are from PCCaseGear - As I live close and can save money on shipping) AMD Ryzen 7 1800X Processor - $649 Gigabyte AORUS AX370 Gaming K7 Motherboard - $319 Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 Black - $219 Total: AUD $1187 =============================================================== (Not key items for the build but quality of life parts: SilverStone Primera RGB Case Matte Black - $179 [My current case as caked on dust and is a little old for my liking.] Fractal Design Celsius S36 Liquid CPU Cooler - $169 [My current CPU cooler doesn't support AM4 and I want more cooling headroom] Total: AUD $1535) I would like this upgrade to be one that last maybe another 4 years or so with a graphics card upgrade somewhere in the middle or when I have the money. I haven't personally put any time into making an Intel build because I feel that the price would be to high for my budgeting. I like the price being around $1500 as that doesn't seem like it would be hard saving for with my current rate of money. If you made it this far thank you very much. I'm still open to the idea of getting an Intel based system as when I first upgraded to my 4690k it was amazing and an enjoyable experience to be on an Intel machine. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated and I'll try to answer any questions. Lilly
  4. Hello people, So I've run into a problem which I'm not 100% sure how to fix. I currently have 4 gaming console connected to a HDMI switch followed by a capture card (Elgato HD60) connected to my second monitor which is fine. If the Elgato HD60 didn't have such high audio lag i would use that but its more than a few seconds so whatever game you play you'll notice it. The problem is, not all of the consoles have another audio solution like the PS4 and Xbone, which I still have to swap the optical cable between depend on which console I'm using. I was wondering if there was a 4 port HDMI switch that has a analog output so I can use a headset for both my PC and consoles. Should I be buying a digital audio receiver or is there some other solution. The screen the consoles are plugged into do not have an analog audio pass-through either, trust me I tired. Any feedback or help would be great
  5. Hello, I've been having trouble with my Desktop computer and I can't seem to find out what the issue is so I thought I'd make a post here and see if someone else has any better ideas. So the problem I'm having is that my computer "Can" black screen while gaming. Not when the game is starting up mind you, it varies from game to game like when I get into a game of CSGO comp or getting into a game of Siege or playing around in WoW or ESO. Its hard to reproduce the results as sometimes it takes longer or sometimes is happens right away. I'll link below to a twitter post with a video of me trying to play Siege with the computer crashing. It wasn't a black screen but it still froze my computer and made input from the keyboard and mouse disabled. The weird thing is I can still hear audio from discord O_o MOBO: MSI MPOWER MAX AC z97 CPU: Intel i5 4690k stock GPU: GTX 980 EVGA Super Clocked RAM: 16GB of HyperX PSU: Corsair AX 860 Watt OS Drive: OCZ Vertex 2 120GB - its been running for around 5 years with a fresh install of Windows 10 in the last month Drivers: All the latest drivers are installed for MOBO and GPU Twitter: Currently I've run stress tests (using Aida64) on my GPU, CPU, RAM and hard drives to see if there is any issues there and from the short testing I've done so far of around half an hour nothing came up. I also sent my GPU off to where I bought it and left it with them for a few days so they could try testing it as well. They also couldn't find any problems with it. I've tried running my GPU in other PCI-E lanes to see if it was just the slot on my mobo that was kicking the bucket but nop still no change. I changed the power supply cables for the GPU along with the port that it was being plugged into on the power supply in-case that was the problem. Still the same results. Its not the end of the world as I have a reasonably good laptop that I can game on but some triple A titles like siege don't really run that well so I'm stuck on what games i can play. If you have any suggestion as to what i should do or a test I should try feel free to let me know.
  6. I guess It wouldn't hurt to try again to fresh install the drivers but it doesn't feel like it would change much. Still no change after uninstalling the drivers and doing a fresh install. I can't play any games without it black screening and not being able to get them back without restarting my computer. This is stupid and very frustrating. I don't know what else to do or try.
  7. I don't believe that is what's happening with my system I feel like there has to be a cause to make it black screen. My computer until a few days ago has been running the same 2 monitor set up for over 1 and a half years with no hiccups. Never had any problems with any of the games or anything. There has to be a reason why this is happening unless its a windows/microsoft thing.
  8. Is it really? Does having a second screen at the moment cause windows and stuff to crash? I'm not 100% sure cause i was using my laptop before running the main laptop screen and a mini-display port to HDMI to my 27inch samsung and i had no problems what so ever. Or is it to do with desktop GPU's only? since my laptop is running a GTx 960m
  9. I forgot to say this in the post but I've updated all my drivers and for the graphics drivers i even downgraded and then reinstalled the latest.
  10. Hello, I'll just get right to the point so when I'm on my computer doing web browsing my computer is fine. But depending on the game both of my screens will turn black despite being able to still hear sound in discord and not being able to use any input deceive like a mouse which isn't visible on either screen or keyboard. It can happen either when the game starts up (Rocket League) or when I'm actually in a match (Counter Strike: Global Offensive). The inconsistency of these black screens with no repeatable steps to get the same result is very tiring. I've booted my system in safe mode and done virus scans along within normal windows using Malwarebytes and AVG yet these problem still persists. None of my components are overheating and I've disabled all overclocked settings back to stock. I've tried unplugging everything like USB devices and even swapped the HDMI cable despite having another monitor that runs on DVI which still gets a black screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this has been happening for a few days preventing me from playing games on my computer. System specs below. Current system specs: OS: Windows 10 - OS HHD: 120GB OCZ-Vertex 2 CPU: Intel core i5 4690k 3.5Ghz MB: MSI MPOWER MAX AC Motherboard RAM: 16GB of Kingston HyperX 1866mhz memory GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4GB EVGA SuperClock - Driver: 376.16 PSU: Corsair AX 850 Watt power supply
  11. I know that's kinda the point at what I'm getting at. I already have a 27inch IPS monitor as my primary display and a 23inch IPS monitor that I use as a secondary display and I like the colour depth and everything. But I'm not sure if going for a TN 144hz monitor is worth the trade off. So I was wondering if anyone had made the switch before and could tell me the pro's and/or con's. I know I can watch reviews and read stat's for days on end. But that's me deciding with no experience. So i was hoping to get some more insight.
  12. Hello, Excuse me and the stupid pun on the title. The main reason I'm making this post is because my current 27inch IPS samsung display is starting to screen tear in video games, so I'm planning on replacing it soon. The problem is that I really love IPS monitor's but was really hoping to get a 144hz display as I seem to be playing lots of CS:GO. I know that their is new IPS 144hz with G-Sync but they are way out of my price range. So for the time being I've chosen 2 monitors but was hoping some people on here would be helpful to make my final decision. The 2 monitor's are: Acer XB270H-G 27in https://www.pccasegear.com/products/31877/acer-xb270h-g-27in-g-sync-144hz-gaming-monitor or BenQ GW2765HT 27in 2K IPS https://www.pccasegear.com/products/28308/benq-gw2765ht-27in-2k-ips-monitor Any advice would be great or new suggestion would be amazing. Anything that can ship to Australia and monitor's around $550 AUD only please
  13. Neither of the drivers on the MSI website work. The Intel WiFi one says i have no hardware that can use the WiFi drivers. The Bluetooth driver doesn't even open. You would think that the drivers on the website would work since it's for their own product. WiFi error: http://puu.sh/k0ujz/163aef7695.png
  14. Hey guys, so i just recently got the MSI MPOWER MAX AC Z97 motherboard and was having some driver issues which most of them are now fixed. The only problem I am having now is the Wifi and Bluetooth aren't showing up in the network adapters? I haven't been able to install the drivers off the disc as it just locks up when i try. Any links to where i can find a solution or the drivers to get these things working would be great. Images: http://puu.sh/jZx97/7fc1acd4df.png http://puu.sh/jZx8D/9505117841.png CPU and Motherboard
