  1. Is there any way to install adobe software (creative cloud suite) in a way that will prevent processes from running when the program is not open? Additionally, I would like to be able to remove the software without leftover files/registry edits at a later date. The only thing I can think of is to install it in a VM, but this is not ideal. I heard using a docker container wont work due to licensing issues.
  2. yeah a mixer will work for part of what i'm looking for. Just dont need the speaker outputs or the mic inputs. (probably gonna get this: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B000KGYAYQ/ref=s9u_wish_gw_i3?ie=UTF8&colid=3G1M6ENZJTTL8&coliid=I28958755H1ZHZ&pd_rd_i=B000KGYAYQ&pd_rd_r=XW3Q9HRXKYXA5CEPGFG0&pd_rd_w=1hNNb&pd_rd_wg=BtigM&pf_rd_m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=M0WMNW8KDN1YF50AC6TE&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=41120b96-e6bb-4096-bead-ecb3296d2e75&pf_rd_i=desktop) But I was hoping for something that i wouldn't have to plug in and out of, and could just switch sources or outputs by switching switches. There seems to be lots of them with only one output, but i cant find any with a bunch of outputs. Probably what i will do is buy two of the mixer posted above.
  3. Is there such a thing as a device I can plug in multiple sources (Say desktop, laptop, phone) and switch between multiple outputs (say various headphones or speakers) while combining the audio from the inputs?
  4. I hadn't considered the frequency, thanks for bringing this to light. Will look in to it.
  5. If anyone is wondering: https://www.amazon.ca/Goldsource-Voltage-Converter-Transformer-ST500/dp/B0022QOSDK/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1498074169&sr=1-3&keywords=voltage+transformer+converter
  6. Looking to set up my 220V headphone amp on a 110V line. Anyone know the best way to do this?
  7. Did you end up finding a glossy monitor? Im in the market for one. Its gotten to the point where id rather use my garbage laptop because of the glossy screen, rather than my high end desktop with my MG279Q asus monitor. Im not sure how anyone could possibly prefer matte.
  8. Exactly my initial plan. Except where in the shit can I buy a TB3 hub??
  9. pretty sure linus did this a while back with a thunderbolt 2 dock.
  10. Can anyone find a proper thunderbolt 3 dock available for purchase in Canada? It seems like there is 6 or 7 companies that say they have them but they are all "coming soon". Are there any actually available? I want to move my desktop into the room next to me (because noise) and running the cable for the dock through the wall is the best solution I can think of. What would you recommend as a solution for this? I'm also considering the following options: ~ Buying 10ft cables for all my peripherals (aux cable, displayport, 4 usb cables) and sleeving them all and running that though the wall. ~ Using an adapter to convert the thunderbolt 3 port on my desktop to thunderbolt 2 and using a thunderbolt 2 hub ~ Same thing as above, but instead of the adapter, buying a thunderbolt 2 expansion card. Also: I don't care much about cost, I've already spent 1000$ on trying to make the build quieter by using "silent" parts. I just don't want the solution to drastically degrade stuff like audio quality or mouse response time.

    USB HUB

tl;dr: looking for a new usb hub to replace my anker one as it started to malfunction Hey, so I use a desktop usb hub for all of my usb connectivity (mouse, keyboard, mic, ect.) as I have my pc placed under my bed across the room (basically as far away from my desk as possible). However, recently my keyboard has started to cut out during use. This doesn't happen if i plug it directly into my PC, so it must be the hub. I was thinking id probably get the exact same one (https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-Portable-Aluminum-Adapter-3-3-Foot/dp/B00IU6R2AW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1487730052&sr=8-5&keywords=anker+usb+hub) as I can't find anything that really works better. But i was curious to see if you guys knew of anything that works better. Ideally id like to find a USB type C hub (my motherboard has a thunderbolt 3 usb type c connection) in the hopes of having enough power to drive all my devices without a powered connection like the anker hub has. thanks, (also note i live in canada so all links and suggestions must be available in canada)
  12. Im currently taking mechanical engineering with an option in mechatronics at the University of New Brunswick in Canada. From my experience learning this stuff over the past few years it seems like its just the sort of thing that some people 'get' and others don't (obviously you need to work hard and study, but it definitely seems like it comes easier to some than others). Its like you need to develop the mindset for it and you understand all the rules and they just start to feel right in your head. Kind of works the same way when you're first learning basic math, and after a while you can start to develop ideas on your own based on your previous basic knowledge, as well as grasp new concepts easier. However, its not hard to notice some people definitely have more of a knack for it. Id suggest just keep working hard at it, because you can always get through it with hard work and lots of studying. All I mean by this, is don't be too distraught if you're having a hard time at it, and don't be discouraged if you're having a difficult time with topics you see people understanding quickly. If its something you're interested in, just keep working at it !
  13. 500w psu can very very easily handle that
