  1. So I am a complete noob when it comes to TVs and sound bars. Ive had the same Sharp Aquos TV for the past 11 years (and have loved it), but now that I have a bigger space in the basement for gaming and content watching, I want to get a larger screen. Probably in the 65-75 inch range. As for sound, I just assumed a sound bar would be best. The space is 11' by 18'. TV: - Is OLED better than LCD in darker rooms? - Which brand is considered to be the best? Sound Bar: - Would a sound bar be almost as good as surround sound speaker? - Is there any specific brands people like?
  2. This is a great idea. I live in Ottawa (capital of Canada) so we have tons of government surplus stuff being sold all the time. Although the last time I checked the surplus store online, they were selling autographed hockey jerseys...
  3. Racing chair then. These arent a new thing... Have been around for quite a while.
  4. These dont look bad, but they arent available in Canada . Another one of my issues lol. Shipping costs!
  5. I have been after a new desk chair for a while now, but have been struggling to find anything that both fits me (6'2" with average to narrow shoulders) and isn't outrageously expense (the world would be a happier place if everyone had an ergohuman chair). Just about everything I find seems to be around the $500-$700 price range Does anyone know any decent quality chairs for anywhere between $100-$300?
  6. So the battery life on Galaxy S6s is pretty bad. Been looking around for a good battery case, but am wary of investing in one of the more expensive ones and the cheaper ones seem to have mixed reviews in terms of quality (you get what you pay for). Does anyone have any suggestions/opinions on battery cases for the Samsung Galaxy S6?
  7. Recently updated to Windows 10 and have not been impressed... Aside from the incredibly long boot time, I've noticed that Facebook no longer loads the Messages page in Chrome. At all. Has anyone else hit this issue?
  8. GTX 970 came with a free code for one of those games. Nothing good ever came out of Montreal...
  9. I think we can all agree that AC Unity is not even one of the options... I bought the same card and have been struggling with this one. FC4 or The Crew. No review copies of the Crew has made it difficult to decide. Do you mean the driving is like GTA/Need for Speed instead of Forza/Gran Turismo?
  10. I am installing a new motherboard, CPU, and GPU (basically building a new rig). I have seen that it is possible to do this without formatting my harddrive and reinstalling my OS, but I want to do it clean. I still want to back everything up, so I have been trying to think through the steps to get it done properly. I have an older computer with the same size HDD, so I plan on wiping the old one clean and using it to back up my newer HDD. I am not very experienced with hard drive swaps and wipes, so any help would be awesome... even if you think a monkey would know, any detail will help! Not sure if I should be plugging both HDDs into the same motherboard and wiping one, then backing up data, then wiping the other.... Not sure where I would reinstall my OS though.
  11. Ok - I appreciate all the input. Going to order: CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($299.00 @ Canada Computers) Motherboard: MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($174.95 @ Vuugo) And Im on the fence about the GTX 970... Depends if I can find something to do with my older cards. Skipping storage, because I already have 1TB in there. Will wait and see for SSDs though.
  12. Why the 4770k when the 4790k is so cheap? On sale for $330 As for CPU cooler, would it be worth reusing my old one? Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes
  13. @Rodneyg87 Yes - plan on keeping current: Case RAM PSU Monitors Budget of $1200 is for CPU, Motherboard, maybe new GPU. That would be the max. I am keen on the i7 4790k. $300-$329 today
  14. So I have been having issues with my motherboard as of late, and wanted to upgrade. Rather than mess around with pulling the CPU off and risk frying it (I am horribly clumsy), I was going to use this as an excuse to upgrade my CPU as well (either a beast i5 or i7). Also, one of my GPUs died on me, so I am considering upgrading GPUs as well. Would prefer to avoid running 2 cards this time and just go for 1 powerhouse card. Ive seen some good deals for Black Friday, but dont want to jump the gun and buy something just because its cheap. Any suggestions? 15. Issue appears to be resolved after manually setting DRAM settings to 9-9-9-24 and 1333 MHz. Label says 1600MHz, so I may contact GSkill to understand whats going on there. Ran a bunch of games to see if I got the beeps again, but nothing so far. Will run memtest to confirm. Side question is related to performance - is dropping to 1333MHz from 1600MHz a big drop in performance?
