  1. It doesn't, but there's junk from the previous windows 8.0 and 8.1 I upgraded from, so I could try and make room, but I'm currently trying a solution suggested here, so better that and 180 free gigs, but thanks anyways!
  2. Looks like turning off the fast startup has worked, and I'll post here after a week if I have no problems, I really appreciate your help mate! Have a good day for now!
  3. Let's hope disabling fast startup works
  4. Just checked both, they seem ok, but now that I think about it, I should do some more digging in the power optins cuz it's one of the few regions whic controls pc behaviour while the os isn't fully active
  5. The Problem came back even after I had done a second fresh install, so I think I may need to sort some software conflict manually or else it'll keep returning
  6. I actually haven't used cloning software at all, it was a fresh install off a usb install drive both times
  7. I recently upgraded a 2014 laptop of mine to an 850 evo from a hdd, and chose to have a fresh install rather than migrate the data. Had a flawlessly running build of windows 10 on the hdd, (still do, btw, I haven't really even touched the data on there apart from giving it a run in ultimate defrag) but upon installing windows 10 on the ssd, and 'essential' programs (chrome, acrobat, vlc, java, ms office, basic drivers for the various card readers, networking, audio etc from HP, and graphics drivers from nvidia, and Bitdefender), all programs I already had on the hdd too, and also presumably some junk from the upgrade from windows 8.1( this was never a problem though, since as I said, the hdd ran flawlessly). a couple of reboots and some general use later, occasionally, when I gave the command to shut down, it would do so, and after the screen went black, the wireless indicator would switch from white to red, and the disk activity led would stop flickering, I.E., the OS has, as far as I can tell shut down, but the power would stay on, with the power leds on. The only available option being a hard shutdown, I'd then press the power button for slightly longer than I'd normally expect for a hard shutdown, and it'd kill power. Luckily, the boot up is perfect though, and a look at event log shows that indeed windows doesn't think that an abnormal shutdown has occurred. Now I tried to look for a culprit, and thought that Intel rapid storage might have been causing a conflict, being the only program I could locate which managed the disk. I tried to uninstall it, and failed, so I tried to remove all non essential drivers, like the card reader and networking. The problem persisted, so I decided to do a fresh install and only install the bare essentials, and forego Intel rapid storage, but fast forward a couple of days, the issue has returned. another possibly relevant observation: core temp used to work fine, but now, when I tried to install it, in both the fresh installs, it reports driver load failure, which while it is acknowledged as a known issue on the website, strikes me as important info since, as I said, it used to work in my hdd build. Thanks for the time you spent reading this! Any suggestions for how to look for a solution/ a solution are greatly appreciated! I can also provide more data if you could use it, so long as you could also help me find it in the first place!
  8. When I was born. When I'd had enough of living in my birth-giver's vagina.
  9. We've tried that, and we've actually fucked up the HD (without even touching it)
  10. no I, for some reason, can't
  11. Well, I would've told the mac to download and install it again, but even the recovery/bios thing is gone, and I've got NO idea how to install OSX from windows.
  12. That photo was just one I got from google to make sure you all know which recovery screen I was talking about, since I don't think that is the correct terminology for it. It's just got a few options on it, like restore to a backup, boot from some other device, etc.
  13. Ok. So I'm in a seriously sticky situation. My friend, (we're in high school) has a mac pro 2015 edition. He paid $2000 for it, and it most meaningful ways, my $900 hp computer from 2013 is better. It was NOT my decision in any way at all. Had he asked me, I would've told him not to do this, as my school requires some bullshit software which is only, ONLY, compatible on windows 8.1, to use their Wifi, and so to use it, Bootcamp would've been a must. His dad, not a very tech savvy person, really pushed him to buy a native windows 8.1 HP pc, on which they were getting an absolutely insanely good deal(6 years warranty, $400 off, total price ended up being $1000, it was an awesome deal, don't h8 HP for no reason plz). But my friend was like: no, I want a mac, I want a MAC, I WANT A MAC! And eventually, his dad agreed to get him a $2000 2015 13 inch macbook pro, but it had a 128 gig ssd, and there was a very strict condition: my friend would not, in pain of death, install ANY unnecessary bullshit on it, and would not give it to absolutely any of his friends for anything, and the friend said yes. Well, Mr friend gets the shiny new laptop, installs windows, but bootcamp for some reason doesn't have an option for more than 30 gb partition size for it, but that's fine with him. Now, he wants win 10, and guess why it won't work? So he comes to me, says is there a way to make the windows partition bigger? I said: yeah, just make the mac partition smaller, and make the windows one bigger. So we go to a website which told us that we had to go to(from inside os x) utilities, disk utilities, and drag the partition size up or down, and it made sense, so we did it, and there was now some un-partitioned space, and we boot into windows, try to make the windows partition bigger, it doesn't work. So I'm like, cool, let's make the un allocated space a new drive, and put your apps and stuff there, and he's like, coo! So I don't touch the mac or the mac recovery partitions in windows, and in mac they wouldn't have let me harm either, and I make the new drive, but now, for some reason, when we tried to boot into OSX, it booted into the recovery screen. we kinda panic, boot into windows, check if the data is gone, but th partition is still there, and the data is still there, and I'm like: wtf? and a few restarts later, even recovery disappears, and it doesn't boot into anything other than windows, and I'm like WTF!? Now, if I go to apple, It's gonna take a while to do this, and he'll have to tell his dad. His dad will immediately consult his tech genius bro, whom my friend made the mistake of calling dumb a few days ago, and my friend is gonna be in such deep shit that he'll be choking, and this is not even worrying about the financial issues! And, on top of that, if this theme continues and his windows dissapears too, then he's not gonna have a laptop to take to class, and the school will tell his parents in 2 weeks time! And well, not what should I, ME, THE PERSON ONLY PERSON WHO WAS TOUCHING THE APTOP WHEN THIS BULLSHIT STARTED HAPPENING, do? Please tell me something. I am ready to give anyone willing to help real money, as much as I can, and remote access to the windows, and everything they need, but PLEASE HELP! LMG community, I NEED YOUR HELP in getting out of this shit!
  14. omg am I too late? (this is an entry as well). I want a 970 cuz I need a pc powerful eough for some light video editing... and I have a 260x. Plz help. Thanks if you do. Thanks still for supporting whoever won the prize if i isn't me. Have a nice day.
  15. Hey guys So I live in Aus.... blah blah blah... everything's really expensive... blah blah blah... So I need an ssd and v300 seems to be the only way possible for me cuz of $limitations. So I want to know that, well, even with the shitty new flash, it can't be THAT bad, right? Not as bad as HDD's, right? And with their price, they seem to have made up for the slower speeds for sure... So I basically want to find out their new speeds, and if someone could link me a video or article, that's be great. P.S. Write speeds don't matter for me. All I really need is being able to move my laptop around as soon as I've dropped the lid, and it needs to be able to fall asleep without being damaged. I keep my PC pretty clean, since even with a HDD, it boots in under 13 seconds. Of course, every little bit helps, and so even slightly faster read is good, and I'm ok with the current write speeds. So is it an OK choice for me?
