  1. Ahh okay, guess I wont be buying cheap DP cables anymore then. Thanks
  2. So the problem I have is I have a 1440p 144hz monitor and when I use my 1m displayport cable that came with the monitor it works perfect. I needed a longer cable so I bought a 3m and 5m displayport cable from my local computer store and both of them will not let the monitor run at 144hz. They were pretty cheap but the only cables they stocked. Does the quality of the cable affect its ability to push 1440p at 144hz? I read that there is no difference between a 1.1 and 1.2 displayport cable, so im a little confused at to why these cables can't do 144hz. Thanks
  3. So I'm pretty set on getting the X34 Predator from Acer as I am able to get a pretty good discount on it through my work. I am planning on upgrading my GPU as well and the GTX 980 is probs the preferred choice. But I have been doing some shopping around and I can get an AMD Fury (not X) for pretty much same price if not a little cheaper than a 980. Plus with Star Wars: Battlefront included, it seems like a pretty sweet deal. For people who have G-sync/Free sync monitor, do you guys actually utilize the feature that much? Am I a complete idiot if I don't get a Nvidia card with a G-sync monitor? P.S. There are currently no free-sync monitors I am able to get through my work, so buying a different monitor is not an option at the moment Thanks!
  4. Hi guys, As most of you probably know, Netflix is probably the worst thing to happen to online gaming in quite a while. My family recently started watching Netflix and its been making my ping in games really high. Unfortunately, my router does not have QOS as it is aa specific cable modem router provided by my ISP. I was wondering, if I buy a router and plug it into my existing modem router and create my own network which only my computer is connected to will this help with my bandwidth issues. Note, my computer is running off WiFi with a AC1900 card.
  5. do you mean the curve distorts the image or the flat panel will make things look distorted?
  6. Hey guys, Wanted to get your opinion on curved ultrawide monitors. I am planning on getting one very soon and tossing up between the AOC U3477PQU or the Dell U3415W. The AOC is $895 AUD and the Dell is just under $1200 AUD. They're both the same resolution and both IPS. Only major difference is the curve on the Dell. Is it worth the premium for the curved? Thanks
  7. Exactly my thought, 980 should be able to run most games 3440x1440 close to 60fps while 980ti would be overkill. However, performance wise between 7970CF vs 980 isn't much. I would be paying $300-400 just for less power consumption. In my opinion not worth upgrading if I don't get a performance upgrade but then paying an extra $600 to get 10-15 fps isn't really worth it imo. WHY DID I BUY A SECOND 7970! LOL
  8. Both good cards but considering I can sell both my cards for $300-400AUD and a new 980ti or Fury X will be $1000AUD. Would the performance upgrade be worth the extra $600-700?
  9. Hi guys, I am currently running a 7970 crossfire setup and looking to get a 3440x1440 60hz display soon. Is it worth selling my current cards and upgrading to a GTX 980/980ti or 390x/Fury X? Thanks
  10. Hey guys, Can't decide what case to get and want to get some opinions. Tossing up between the Define S and Evolv ATX. Both have great water cooling support and very attractive design. The Define S is a great value buy ($154 AUD) but the deal breaker for me is that there's no shroud over the PSU. Evolv ATX is amazing build quality and ticks all my boxes but its pretty pricey ($249 AUD). Thanks

  12. Wow that's good service! This is good to know, worst case scenario of paying $40 sounds good to me Thanks for the re-assurance guys
  13. Hello, I recently purchased MSI Z97A-Gaming 6 motherboard and it came with a bent pin. I have contacted MSI about an RMA and currently waiting for a reply. Was just wondering anyone has had any experience with RMA for bent pins with MSI? I heard they have great service so hopefully mine gets replaced. Thanks
  14. Hi guys, I recently started to built my new computer and after I put everything together I tried to turn the computer on and it wouldn't boot. I took it apart and tried again outside the case with the motherboard, RAM, CPU, GPU and PSU only. Still didn't post, only the power button was illuminated and none of the others. I then checked the socket and realized a pin was bent. I contacted MSI about an RMA and am still waiting for a response. In the meantime I went to go try my components on my mate's X99 board. The motherboard powered on with all lights illuminated but still no post. I didn't bring my cooler with me but I could feel heat on top of the CPU. Do I need a heat sink for the CPU to post? I am scared that the bent pin may have short circuited my motherboard and damaged other components. I tested the GPU on my old Z87 board and it works fine. *phew* What do you reckon the chances are that my CPU and RAM got damaged? Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7 5820K RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 2666Mhz Mobo: MSI X99A SLI Plus (Mine) MSI X99A SLI Krait Edition (Mates) GPU: Sapphire 7970 OC PSU: Corsair TX-850M
  15. Hi guys, I'm looking to build a new system soon and planning to go with a mATX build in the Corsair Air 240. I'm planning to get the new AMD Fury X which has a 120mm radiator. Was just wondering would there be any issues installing another 120mm AIO cooler for my CPU in the front 240mm slot? Planning to get a H80i for the CPU, I know the dimensions for the Fury X rad aren't out yet but as just wondering if any Air 240 owners have had any success/problems install 2x 120mm rads in the front. Thanks
