  1. did clear cmos and done nothing, all the fans and leds were working though... i find it very bad luck that ive had two motherboards both with coil whine (in a row) :(
  2. 0s4x : that coil whine is changing in pitch and loudness whereas myne is steady and then in game sometimes gets louder but once it goes up either louder or changes frequency it stays like that until i either alt tab or quit the game. Volbet : ok thanks also anyone know why my old board ended up not giving power to mouse keyboard and monitor?
  3. wow so probably as this and my previous motherboard is a 'cheaper motherboard' as its only a p8 h61 not a z77 board they all may have coil whine as they are cheapish? also should i be worried about the vrm whining?
  4. so your saying the VRM has capacitor coil whine? even though this motherboard is brand new?
  5. Yes im using the stock intel cpu cooler.
  6. Ive also pulled my power supply out and ran the computer with it out of case, and their was no noise coming from the power supply. Same with my ATI HD7770 i pulled that out and the noise was still their.
  7. I know this sounds bad but i bought a second hand ASUS P8H61 M LE USB3 motherboard when i built this rig a few weeks ago, which worked for a few weeks but sometimes the computer wouldn't turn on, then eventually i had no display and keyboard and mouse. I just bought a new ASUS P8H61MX USB3 motherboard brand new and it works perfectly apart from i can still hear this whine. I probably should add that the sound sometimes gets louder when I'm in a game (not at loading screens) only when rendering/using furmark to benchmark.
  8. hi all, I just built a gaming rig for myself, and ive noticed that i can hear a high pitched whining noise, I've located the sound to be coming from the CPU area. Can anyone please help me? I have a sound clip on my computer that i recorded with my phone. I can email it to anyone that may be able to help (if needed).
