  1. Many thanks for the responses. I am checking out PC part picker. Your responses have given me more to research and learn. My main research tool is going to YouTube and checking Linus's videos.
  2. Why not Haswell-E? Let me post an irresponsible build in a few minutes. No particular reason. My researching hasn't led me to it yet. here use my ppartpicker link in my sig for the appropriate country Not sure what you are getting at. i don't think a single 980 can handle 4k gaming. Good to know. I am also considering a Nvidia Titan Not sure getting the TV is your best bet. For gaming alone the best monitor at the moment is the RoG Swift. The reason I have the TV is it is the way I have been doing it for years. I admit I will probably need to upgrade my monitor. I will Internet search RoG Swift.
  3. 1. Budget & Location: My budget is 5-6k $US (6-9k $US if you include a new 4k 3D 75" TV) The parts list I have come up with is: Corsair Obsidian Series 900D Super Tower Computer Case CC-9011022-WW - Black Asus Rampage IV Black Edition EATX DDR3 2133 Intel LGA 2011 Motherboard Intel i7-4960X Extreme Edition LGA 2011 Processors BX80633I74960X G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 64GB (8 x 8GB) DDR3 2400 MHz PC3-19200 240-Pin Desktop Memory Model: F3-19200CL10Q2-64GBZHD CORSAIR AX1500i 1500W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS Titanium Certified Full Modular Power Supply. Model CP-9020057-NA Samsung Electronics 850 Pro-Series 2.5" 1TB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive Single Unit Version MZ-7KE1T0BW EVGA EVGA GTX980 Superclocked 4GB GDDR5 256bit, DVI-I, DP x 3, HDMI, SLI Ready Graphics Card (04G-P4-2982-KR) Graphics Cards 04G-P4-2982-KR Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound 3.5 Grams I am considering additional graphics cards and sli I am still researching water cooling systems. I plan on reusing my monitor, TV, keyboard, mouse, and external hard drives 2. Aim Gaming - I currently play Diablo III, Starcraft II, and Star Trek Online Video viewing - 4k and 3D Web broswing Editing and burning HD videos I also have some home architect software 3. Monitors I plan to use one monitor and one TV. My monitor is a Dell 2405FPW set at 1920 x 1200. I would connect my Dell XPS 730x to my 40" TV but it can't handle gaming and video viewing at the same time. I plan on buying a 75" TV with wireless, 3D, 4K. 4. Peripherals I haven't really planned on new keyboard or mouse. I will use currently owned Windows 7 Pro 64bit until Windows 10 comes out. Windows 8 iteration is not planned. I tried it and it's the first Windows OS I don't like. I will be purchasing additional Western Digital external hard drives. 5. Why are you upgrading? I currently use a Dell XPS 730x for gaming but it can't really handle the games I currently play - too slow, lag, etc. In addition I use a Dell XPS m1730 laptop to stream videos to my 40" TV. I would like to be able to do both on one computer. I want to be able to play the latest and greatest software, whether it is gaming, CAD, video editing, etc. I also want the computer to last for years. Last, I am really looking forward to building a computer from scratch.
