Well that rules out the GTX 970

Just got a GTX 1080 today. It's a Zotac Founders Edition and it seems to be doing pretty good. I was able to push it all the way to +350 on the core giving me a boost clock of 2084mhz with a max clock of 2062mhz and a sustained 2012mhz while stress testing with Heaven Bench. I set the fan speed to 100% and was pretty stable right around 65°C. I'm still trying to figure out how GPU Boost 3.0 works since it's really fussy about temperature. I set the fan to 80% and temps shot up to 75°C and it seems like GPU Boost dropped my voltage from 1.062 to 1.05, which lowered my sustained clock from 2012mhz down to 1999mhz. I'm actually surprised how quiet this cooler is. I have a pretty quiet case so that helps but running it at 80% is perfectly reasonable. 100% fan speed is a bit much though. TL:DR +350 Core with 2062mhz (peak) and 2012mhz (sustained) +500mhz memory 120% Power +25% max voltage (approximately 1.06ish) 65°C (ambient 26°) I still might be able to push the core clock farther but it seems like I'm hitting a power limit due to the fact every time I increase the Core Offset, I only get a small fraction back in actual frequency increases. The bump from +300 to +350 only got me about an additional 5mhz so it just doesn't seem worth it. It also seems like it's important to keep the temperatures below 70°C or else the GPU Boost will aggressively limit the potential of the card. Maybe if I ever put this thing on water, I'll be able to push it close to 2100mhz... Anyway, on to the Heaven Bench results. Bare in mind I'm running it at 3440x1440 so my results are way lower than anyone who would be running it at 1080p. Stock: 2012mhz Core + 500mhz Memory

Every review I've seen and read on this case has always strongly recommended against watercooling it as if it's something that's next to impossible to do so I'm referring to those people. I could actually drop in a 360mm (dual 180mm, not triple 120mm) Rad in the bottom of the case but I wouldn't be able to install the HDD cage and I'm not willing to give up 3.5" storage until you can buy a 4TB SSD for less than $100.

It also doesn't help that my i7 runs hotter than typical. I've tried stock cooling, a cheap heatpipe tower from Cooler Master, and a Corsair H80i and all would allow it to hit 100 degrees + when stress testing it (though to be fair I'm suspicious the H80i's pump is DOA). This custom loop keeps it in the low 70s with an overclock so that makes me a happy boy and I'd hate to upset that balance by adding a GPU to the mix.

This build was challenging to say the least. My first learning experience with hard tubing and there really isn't a whole lot of room to work with and cable routing can get tricky. I also had to get "creative" with mounting the reservoir/pump since it was designed to attach to 120mm and 140mm fans/radiators. Speaking of radiators, my 180mm EK Radiator got banged up a bit and needed to be violently wedged in under the motherboard tray. Overall, I'd say it's a success and looks a lot cleaner than my previous FT01 build.

No because storage prices are constantly falling and you'll certainly get a faster drive for less money in 6 months. When buying storage, ONLY BUY WHAT YOU NEED AND UPGRADE ACCORDINGLY!

Not really. His original video on this issue was a 20 minute rant on why he will never use Pastel again. If that's not a condemning review of their products, then I don't know what is. I knew from the moment he posted that original video, it was going to erupt in a mess of internet drama and clashing egos and surprise, surprise; that's exactly what happened.

Jay is being a huge ass for throwing Mayhems under the bus when the issue is most likely his dirty Alpha Cool radiator that he uses in the GPU loop. They're notorious for making radiators that can never be completely cleaned out and Mayhems have said over and over again on multiple different forums to avoid using their fluids with Alpha Cool radiators. I can even say from personal experience that changing from a cheap, dirty radiator to an EK rad fixed the issue completely with Mayhems fluid when my loop kept turning purple from red after a few weeks. If Jay wants to swap out the fluid rather than swapping out the radiator, that's perfectly fine but it's ridiculous that he's refusing to admit the problem can be anything besides the fluid. He's on a total ego trip and this "drama" is really making it hard to trust his opinions.

But Hardware mode is also where you offload a lot of work onto your GPU. Software mode is where performance hurts.

Bluray support on PC is pretty abysmal and the best solution if you just want to pop in a disc and enjoy it as intended is PowerDVD. I still prefer MakeMKV just so I can rip everything and put it on my media server so I don't have to mess around with loading discs and being forced to watch unskippable trailers and DMCA anti-piracy warnings.

If you have a motherboard that supports NVMe, then there's no competition between the two.

Donal Trump is a populist shill that's exploiting the latent hatred and bigotry in America for attention. What's not to love?
