  1. I just recently downloaded windows 10 on my computer, and my fps has gone from a solid 300 in CS:GO, TF2, Dota 2, Portal 2, Loadout, and Dirty bomb to merely 60 fps with dips to 10 fps every few seconds. I am on a desktop with the following specs: i7 4790k Geforce GTX 970 16GB G.skill ddr3 RAM and a few other specs that shouldn't matter. Prior to the windows 10 update, I was running windows 7 with perfect framerates. I don't know what is happening. Games are crashing, my computer freezes while in game, even source games are unplayable at lowest settings. I need help with this, as it has turned my otherwise capable computer into a "Potato". Low fps games: TF2 Portal 2 Robocraft Dota 2 Loadout Games that won't even launch: Dirty Bomb CS:GO GTA 4 Payday
  2. I live in south cali as well lol. Awesome I am going to mount the radiator on the front as intake. Also how are your fans set up? How many on each side?
  3. The first two have 15-25 millisecond response times and 40-60 millisecond input lag. That is unnacceptable for CSGO. The only decent one is 899 dolars
  4. Cool (no pun intended)! I was planning to mount it at the front, anyways. What gpu do you have? I have a gtx 970, I hear it doesn't output much heat.
  5. This is about the fifth post I have made in the Displays section, and I apologize for being annoying, I just want to make the most out of my money. So I have a dilemma. I need a gaming monitor for my new rig, and I can't decide between a 144hz benq xl2430t (nothing else) and an LG 29um65 (I think that is what it's called). One is 24 inch 144hz TN and the other is 29 inch 21:9 60hz IPS. I play a lot of Counter strike and was wondering whether or not the extra refresh rate and response time will actually noticeably improve my performance. The 29 inch monitor seems so cool and has wider FOV so that could help in Counter Strike. Also it has the bnefit of better contrast ratio and color accuracy due to it being an IPS panel. Any help is greatly appreciated, and I apologize to those who have responded to all 4 of my previous posts. I assure you this is the final one.
  6. I am planning to build a new pc containing an MSI gtx 970 and an i7 4790k cooled by a corsair h105 (just cause i like how it looks). It will be in the Fractal design define r5 windowed case. I am trying to decide on whether to put the 240mm radiator on the top to maximize airflow and sacrifice a bit of quietness and looks, or to put it on the front and leave the moduvents closed. This would result in slightly increased gpu temps. Which do you think I should go with? If I choose the front mount then I will remove all the hard drive brackets and put it in a push-pull config as intake. If it is on the top then it will be a push exhaust. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  7. Those are like 900 dollars. I am not going to spend 50% of my budget on a monitor that has a ratio that CSGO doesn't even allow you to run at. It just puts black bars on the outside. But thanks for te suggestion. Maybe someday in the far far future...
  8. Is the 4k monitor good? I have 2 gtx 980s so that shouldn't be a problem either. Also I found 24 inches somewhat small as I could barely see people's heads in CS. Also with the crazy pg278q it has a 1440p resolution at 144hz with gsync. But it costs 700 USD. Anyways thanks for the quick responses I think I will head over to best buy and see how different resolutions look. Is 4k windows scaling really as bad as people say it is?
  9. Yeah I've seen that monitor. It seems great, but I don't think 24 inches is enough. Do you have it? If so, can ou tell me a bit about your experiences with it? It seems to be the most widely reccomended monitor out there right now.
  10. I have reserved quite a bit of money due to the ASUS ROG swift pg278q being the only High refresh rate 27 inch monitor. (Yes I know there are Korean monitors but they overclock by skipping frames, not real high refresh rate). However, I could save about 300 USD and get a 1080p high refresh monitor. I am not quite convinced of 1080p 27 inch monitors, as my 24 inch 1080p monitor already seems quite pixely. Does anyone have any suggestions? I play cs go a lot so high refresh rate is very important to me, as is a 27 inch display size. Thanks to all who respond
  11. I am looking for a new monitor fpr playing Counter Strike (source, 1.6, and Global Offensive). I realize that higher refresh rates and response times are more important for twitch games like counter strike. So I need to decide between a 144hz 27 inch 1080p monitor and a 60hz 28 inch 4k monitor. I know for certain that I can run 4k at 60+ fps, and counter strike isn't very taxing on the gpu. The 4k monitor is the pb287q i believe, and the 1080p monitor is yet to be determined (there are many options). Also, both panels are tn, but the 4k one supposedly is very close to an ips panel. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also thanks for reading this long and boring post.
  12. Okay then, i will go with 4 x 8. Thanks!
  13. Well, the AF fans will be exhaust and intake. I am using the default radiator fans. I meant that the default phanteks fans were loud. My bad.
  14. Why 8gb sticks? Wouldn't 4x4 be able to take advantage of quad channel? There would still be four open slots for upgrading.
  15. I have a budget of around $2000 excluding tax. I don't care about the colors, because I will have fancy rgb ambient LED's everywhere. I won't even be able to tell the original color. DISCO FTW! What do you mean by location? It is pretty cool here in the Bay area, and the space I will put the computer in is pretty open.
