  1. They have no in house review for the UX433...checked already
  2. hi, i'm looking to buy one of this laptops and want to figure something out: The UX430 is over a year old now, there are plenty of reviews, but i still can't understand if it is tunable with intel XTU or throttlestop both for voltage and tdp The UX433 is rather new, only a handful of reviews are out, still can't understand if it is tunable with throttlestop or intel CTU for voltage and tdp, and if cooling performs the same as the UX430 (it seems thinner) Kaby Lake-R vs Whiskey Lake-U is no major upgrade but the UX433 is the best looking though...pls consider to share your opinion if anyone got it or knows someone who got it.
  3. if you know any with tweakable power limits and good battery life and screen, pls give me some hints
  4. i was not talking about build quality...but about aesthetics...anyway yes, i'm fine with 600-700 cb score
  5. I don't really like thinkpads...their design feels really old, any other ideas? do clevo or sager even make a non gaming (and flashy) notebook?
  6. Let's say up to 2.5-2.7 kg won't hurt my back (power supply included ofc)...but I don't want a flashy gaming laptop...if you want to look around you can use Amazon.it ePRICE.it hw1.it unieuro.it euronics.it Mediaworld.it (last three are physical stores mainly) and you can also use trovaprezzi.it to compare prices among many many other shops which may be less known but still trustworthy, and maybe cheaper than big names in the industry
  7. Well that is a bit too flashy...I prefer a sleek design, I'm kind of a classic person Ty I'll look into it...is the max tdp tunable like the Mi Notebook Pro? do you know any similar laptop with a cheaper price? Even one with a lower resolution screen. Max weight is no problem...I can easily carry up to 2kg without problems, maybe more... min battery life with light work or video reproduction has to be at least 5-6 hours. Also I'm from Italy
  8. Hi everyone...I'm looking for a now laptop. Main use will be University work, watching Netflix and casual video editing. I'm looking for something with an i7-8550u, mx150, good cooling with unlocked bios to occasionally raise power limits with XTU (when exporting a video for example), good battery life, and good enough IPS display(FHD at least, 4K is impossible for my budget I think). The perfect match I could find right now is the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro. Does anyone has other suggestions or alternatives? Budget is around 1000-1200€ so any top-of-the-line Notebook is out of the equation
  9. ok guys, it is obvious i am reffering to current pricing. cheap is intended as market stands right now i am willing to buy 8gigs...it has to be budget oriented and ryzen compatible. i don't want to spend like 60$ for a kit not ryzen friendly and have tons of headache later. i'll be better spending 10$ more, but at least it will work hassle free. BTW use case is casual gaming, casual video editing (no need for 16gb), and common web browsing
  10. Hi all, I am trying to build a Ryzen pc for my family. I think I will go for the Ryzen 5 1600 and a B350 board. I'm worried about what memory to choose, how is Ryzen compatibility now? I'm not looking for ludicrous speed, I want to get a 2400 kit and up the frequency and cas latency to maintain the same memory latency time to up infinity fabric performances. What is my best bet?
  11. of course i'm not that stupid. This is an outdoor camera, and i can't install a bulky waterproof outdoor outlet cause i don't want to ruin my house aesthetics. My goal is to just "show" a wire, which will be painted the same colour of the house' outdoor wall, and leave all the electrical components safe from water and hidden in the house walls.
  12. My only concern is power, since data will be managed through Wi-Fi. I have a bunch of AWG 10 and AWG 15 cables laying around, so I can run that from the power supply to the hole on the wall near the camera, and cut the camera cable of a length which is just right to reach the hole, so I should be able to use a longer wire, preserving much of the voltage, right? Anyway I don't really know how much power the camera takes, the power brick has an output of 5V 1A, so I think the camera should be 0.5A or less. I don't have a USB tester to check the operating power consumption. Assuming 0.5A running AWG15 at 10m distance (20m wires), I should just lose 0.1V, which should be well within spec, and the last 1m with AWG24, I should be a little over 4.8, again within spec, at the camera. This, if I did my math right.
  13. Hi all, I recently bought a security camera which comes with a non-detachable USB cable. This cable is too short for my needs, so I want to cut off the USB port, and solder some wires to extend the length, and connect the wires to a 5V power supply (like the ones used to power LED strips). Thing is: wires inside the cable that carry power will be easily recognisable if they are a different gauge than the ones deputed to carry data signal, but what if not? So my question is down to: can I use a multimeter to test what wires are deputed to carry power if they are all the same gauges? Remember the cable can't be connected to any power source, since one end is permanently attached to the camera, and the other end (with USB connector) is chopped off. I have some soldering skills but have never touched a multimeter, so pls describe the process if possible. I can't buy a USB cable extension because I need this cable to run into the same path of my house electric circuit and there is not enough space for USB connectors
  14. I actually care about loosing quality and I don't really have time limitation (even if it takes a month to re-encode all of them, I'm still ok with it). For the Blu-Ray rips especially. So I think it will be better to go with something like HandBrake or StaxRip. So I am looking for some good settings to encode without loosing too much quality. Can you help?
  15. I have hands on 2 i7 4790k rigs which are used only some hours each day, so they can spend the rest of the time encoding the video. So what settings do you advice me to use for the x265 encoder, to maintain good enough quality while saving some space? It's an external HDD...I've backups of the things I really care all over the place. I just want to save space on that HDD since it is portable and I can easily bring it to friend's house and on trips.
