Installed a CPU into an MB for the first time in Jan 2013. Installed my fist aftermarket cooler an hour later. Yes, it took me that long to install a hyper 212.

  1. Thank you. It is a Barracuda.
  2. I lost a spinning disk of rust. Can anyone recommend a data recovery service? I live in Chicago but am willing to ship. As rules of project management state: Price, Speed, Quality - pick 2. I pick price and quality. Thanks, Chad
  3. It is part of Blackmagic Media Express. Media Express itself will not work as it requires Blackmagic hardware, but installing it will also install Disk Speed Test. chad
  4. Replaced the MB, and a HDD. Problrm solved, unfortunately. Thanks Chad
  5. Estisting system. Asus Sabertooth 990FX, FX6300, SATA drives (2 SSD and one HDD), and a internal bluray drive. The system has been stable for 4 months. Today, it locked, blue screened and rebooted. It could not find the the boot drive. I booted into BOIS and the only drive the system saw was the bluray. I walked away and let it sit, rebooted, and it saw all of the drives. Launched Win7, and it locked/BSOD again after a few minutes. Rebooted into BOIS, and it saw some of the drives, but not all. Reflshed the BIOS, no change. Anything posabiliies other than a bad board? chad
  6. OK, I got the drivers installed and it is showing me the RAID array. I am now running into "Windows 7 cannot distinguish between ambiguous hard disks" This link say to change the BIOS settings for SATA controllers from enhanced to compatibility: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/error-0x80300001/213db5e6-f3c8-4ec4-9645-0b3fdcb7d6c3 Couldn't find anything like that in the AMD/ASUS BIOS setup, unless they are referring to the difference between UEFI and Legacy?
  7. Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2 with latest bios 2x OCZ Vertex 150 240Gb connected to SATA ports 2 and 3 2 mechanical HDDs connected to SATA ports 5 and 6 1 Crucial MX100 512Gb connected to SATA port 1 or 4 In BIOS, SATA Ports 1-4 set to RAID Board SATA Raid ROM The OCZ's are set to Raid 0. The array shows as functional in the raid utility. The Raid drive is set to second boot option, DVD drive set to first. When I initiate the WIN7 OEM install, neither of the SSD's (Raid or MX100) appear on the drive options to install the OS. This is the screen after accepting the terms of use, very early in the install process. What am I doing wrong?
  8. Does that mean the Sabertooth 990FX R2 does not have the capability of controlling each fan header individually?
  9. Maybe I am too old, but I don't get Thermal Radar on my Sabertooth 990FX R2. I liked Fan Xpert 2 where I would control each fan individually. But, I do not see that functionality in Thermal Radar. It will let me set a curve for my CPU fan, and a generic "Chassis fan", but does not allow me to control any of the fans inidividually. Am I missing something? Is there a way to take more control in Thermal Radar? Or, so I need to use a third party software to control my fans individually the flow I want?
  10. I have heard rumors of interference fits. The fittings on the outside of the pump look like they are a little wider. Does anyone have any experience with this combo? chad
  11. Wow. The afte Wow. The After After Party! LOL
  12. where is the after party? They keep mentioning there is one but never say where.
  13. For now. They can't be mined with ASCICS for now. This is supposed to change come Q2 or Q3 with unknown results.
  14. I have investigated them to my personal satisfaction: I took a look at their forums and found a number of posts by their customer service people. I have never ever seen such a flippant and disrespectful attitude towards a customer base as I saw there. They will not take a credit card. High value purchase, and they will not work with anything other than irreversible bitcoin transactions or bank drafts. And, orders can not be cancelled. They used to take credit cards and paypal, but I wonder (my personal speculation) if they got into so much trouble with customers filing complaints with their credit cards and PP that the CC companies and PP dropped them. Like I said, the reasoning is my personal speculation, but the fact remains that they used to take credit cards and paypal, but no longer do. Read the entire description of the Monarch. While the people here might (rightfully) think of mining as speculative, to me, their description clearly showed that they picture the simple purchase of their gear as speculative, not the mining itself. I was unable to find a single positive report on their delivery performance. Most reports were of undelivered product months after the promise date. I sent them an email about their current backlog on their Monarch. That was Sunday, January 12th. As of Wednesday, January 22, I have not gotten a reply. There's 5. I think any two of those are damning. I was honestly hoping I would find better from them, but what I found was enough for me. If you decide to give them a shot, come back and give use update. Chad
  15. I think Newegg would be welcomed by a community such as this. Thanks, Master of the Obvious
