  1. Thanks for the response. How is the monitor for web browsing do you need to scale the text in order too see it comfortably or not? I've heard that because it's 25" the text is relatively small but others have said it isn't so just curious.
  2. Thanks for help. Essentially deciding on a new monitor is currently governing my life and with my student loan coming on Monday I'm eager to make a decision but obviously won't rush into one. For 21:9 is the 34" 1080p too pixelated? Will this be an issue and thus is 34" 21:9 1440p the sweet spot here? Knowing I play a lot of console games and watch a lot of Netflix will a 21:9 be worth using as I believe these don't support this aspect ratio or is this a reason to favour two displays? Thanks again for the help so far and future help I may recieve!
  3. I'm currently running the following set up: Gtx 970 i5 4690k 8gb DDR3 750w EVGA Gold 80+ PSU 128gb Crucial x100 SSD NZXT Kraken x61 NZXT S340 The monitor I'm currently using is a basic 1080p one, the LG 23MP75. When building the PC I cheaper out on the monitor in favour of buying better components but now almost 1 year on I think it's time to upgrade with roughly £500-£700 spending money but this is by no means a necessity to spend as I'm looking for value not to break the bank pointlessly. To describe my usage of the PC is in my opinion for casual gaming, both modern titles (GTA 5, Shadow of Mordor) but also browser Games such as runescape. I also watch a lot of Netflix and films on my monitor but with only having the one I hate to do it anything other than split screen so I can work or game simultaneously. I've been advised to look at many monitors, 21:9 models have been high in people's recommendations but with my build can I drive the 3440x1440 or not? Also I've been recommended towards the Dell U2515H where in the UK two of them can be bought for the price of the cheapest 3440x1440 solution which seems great value but do I even need 2? Essentially I'm looking for any advice, as little or as comprehensive as you can provide it's greatly appreciated. Thanks Adam
  4. I sit usually at a relatively close distance when gaming but not so the pixels on the TV bother me so the monitor should be fine not to mention at a more relaxed distance when watching a movie it will be even less of an issue. So to clarify which option would you recommend and why?
  5. Thanks for your perspective. Apart from the one I linked is there any other monitors you'd recommend at that price point here in the UK that are of similar quality as I've heard that model has some bleeding issues
  6. Obviously due to budget constraints of £300 ish as shown by the links I'm limited to the 2560x1080 29" displays. Would you consider these adequate size or not? These are the only displays I haven't seen in person so it's hard for me to visualise their size but I've heard nothing but positives from a media consumption perspective so that's why I'm considering them
  7. Thanks for your feedback. I currently play on a tv that's 1080p and 32" I believe it's either my eyes or something else but I can't see and pixels from my comfortable viewing distance, how bad is it on 27" for you?
  8. No this is solely for me, it's essentially my toy while I'm at university so I use this for all my media so games, movies, very very basic photo editing and that's about it. This curve screen has obviously come in stock today at what seems a good price but not sure
  9. Basically I'm looking to get my first monitor to go with my new build and have come to you guys for help. Just for some background information my build contains an i5 4690k and a GTX970. I'm looking to get a monitor for both gaming and watching a lot of movies/tv and streams as this is kind of my all in one media hub. I've found 3 monitors I'm considering and need advice asap as the deals end tomorrow. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-207-SA&groupid=17&catid=2908 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-109-LG&groupid=17&catid=2907 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-167-SA&groupid=17&catid=1120 I am open to other suggestions also as you guys are the brains of this operation! Thanks in advance
  10. Yeah I know I tried to quote but my tablet is all over the place so switched to my phone, sorry about that. Budget is £1000 with £100 extra available if necessary and that includes OS but no peripherals. Thanks in advance and the phone version of this website seems to be performing much more to my favour:) EDIT- I should point out that motherboard has not already been purchased but the colour scheme is my preference but I'm willing to change is persuaded to by better features:)
  11. System is used for university work and leisure. Gaming and streaming TV will be a major part of the build but also content creation such as basic video editing but nothing to the extent of master 3d renderers more just presentations and educational videos
  12. Thanks for that advice, really helpful. With regards to the s340 I really like its clean aesthetics and also the simplicity of the design allows me to remove parts and paint them incredibly easy without making the case look strange. If you know any other good clean cases though I'm more than happy to listen to any suggestions people have.
  13. Power supply is in case of SLI in the future and was unsure of the power consumption of an overcooked CPU and two GPU's in SLI As for the i5 over the i7 is there no noticeable difference in gaming applications and general computer usage?
  14. For starters I have no idea how I copy and paste the PCPartPicker link as I struggled completely for some reason. Secondly is there any recommended changes you'd make to this build and if so could you please explain your reasoning, thanks in advance.
  15. Right I'll explain my situation. I have roughly £1,000 (I say roughly this can be adjusted either down or up if it's worth the change) and I'm avoiding the dive into next gen consoles in favour for what seems the much better alternative in PC Gaming. My knowledge of the field of PC building is poor but I am sure that with the world of YouTube it should be a manageable task. I'm looking to use this PC for both gaming and university work and I prefer a small size case that could be still upgraded but if a large case is better value I have more than enough room under my desk for one. I like the idea of an upgrade path for me to learn and enjoy the realms of PC building. I like clean cases (Fractal Design are a company I love for their clean designs but also like the NZXT H440 or S340 style if a larger case proves more bang for the buck). I will need an OS and cheap peripherals (as those are easy upgraded in the future) and silence is a huge preference as it's horrible trying to do work with what sounds like a wind tunnel next to me. Thanks in advance for any help.
