  1. Disabling ULPS (Ultra-Low Power State) has successfully solved my issue while still being able to use two monitors. Here's a guide of how to do it: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-1904869/disable-ulps-amd-crossfire-setups.html
  2. I made some progress, looks like it has something to do with the idle clocks. I haven't gotten any problems gaming for the last few hours with one screen, with two screen I would have crashed or developed artifacts already. The idle clocks stay the same with both one and two screens. I've got a feeling it's simply too low to drive both screens. It even lowers the clocks during games, whenever I go into settings in BF4 for example. That would also explain why either the store or Gigabyte didn't develop any issues with the card, since they probably tested it with one screen. Still testing over the weekend and will report back with a [sOLVED] tag hopefully. Wish me luck
  3. Yes, I've tried underclocking it up to 25%, to no avail. Nope, the artifacts appear at pretty much any temperature, USUALLY at 60-70 when it's loaded the most. It has never gone over 75C though. Still haven't tried it in a different PC, I will do that during the weekend probably.
  4. Bump, I noticed something weird, I got these green dots on my secondary display (which is connected through a DVI - miniDP adapter), reconnecting it made the dots disappear. Could I possibly be looking at faulty DVI cables? Doesn't really sense to me since my games keep locking up and having flashy and stretched out textures, which is a classic sign of a faulty card.
  5. Good idea, I completely forgot about the RAM. edit: ran 15 passes of it, no signs of trouble.
  6. Sitrep: Could not flash a new BIOS version as @BIOS claims that the BIOS versions do not match. My current version is F70, and Gigabyte has F13 and F4 available on their site. http://www.gigabyte.fi/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4847#bios My card has Hynix memory, while the BIOS files are for Elpida. Temps are around 60-70 when the problems start. I have never seen it go above low 70's really. I do not think my PCI-E slots are damaged, as my GTX 560 Ti worked without any issues whatsoever. I will try it out in my roommates PC later on though. I am now trying with the switch in right position, which apparently is Silent.
  7. Nope, I've always cleaned them with DDU. And this time around, I did a clean install of Windows 8.1.
  8. Here's the story, I bought my R9 280X in June, and one month after the purchase it started acting up. Games were crashing and I got artifacts in my most played games (Dota 2, BF4, STALKER). So I decided to RMA it, and two weeks later I got the same card back from the store, and they claimed there wasn't any problems with the card whatsoever. I used for a couple more weeks and experimented with all kinds of stuff until I got fed up with the issues and decided to RMA it again. The card was sent to Gigabyte this time who confirmed what the store said (and I got to see their statement as well). Card is fine. I got the card back yesterday along with a 25 euro bill for the shipping, and it's still acting up for me even after a clean Windows 8.1 install. What I've tried so far: - clean install of Windows 8.1 - different PSU - different versions of Catalyst ranging from 13.12 to the newest 14.9 - underclocking the card by 10 and 25% - CPU @ default speeds - different PCI-E slot - default BIOS settings - 20 minutes of memtest86, no errors Nothing seems to be working. The card passes 20 mins of OCCT stress test, but starts to develop artifacts in most other benchmarks, including but not limited to Star Swarm and 3DMark. The card also artifacts at random on the desktop (green dots, weird colored lines in the browser), forcing me to restart. ---------------------------- My specs: Intel i7-2600K @ 4.4GHZ 8GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600MHZ Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H rev 1.0 Creative Recon3D PCI-E soundcard 480GB PNY Optima SSD & 750GB Samsung F3 XFX 850W gold modular Fractal Design Define R3 Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit 2 screens, one via DVI, one via miniDP, both 1920x1080 ----------------------------- I have been using my old GTX 560 Ti in the mean time without any issues whatsoever. I am growing impatient of my R9 280X soon and I'm really not willing of selling a card that I cannot guarantee works.
