  1. Okay so my one hard drive suddenly started acting weird once I upgraded my cpu from an fx8350 to an i7 6700k and reinstalled windows. Upon booting and during use my storage drive is pegged at max active time constantly but is reading/writing kb/s or nothing at all. Windows in responsive until a program needs information off of that drive or I try to run a program off of it then programs slow down until a few minutes later whatever program was trying to load loads and then it's back to normal until the cycle repeats. So far I have tried 1. New Sata cable 2. New Sata port 3. Turned off superfetch and the other thing to turn off 4. Made sure there was no page filing on that drive It's really strange because it seemed fine a few days ago before the windows reinstall but I can't be sure because I had some weird issues before the install that I attributed to the new processor, mobo, and ram. If anyone knows anything about this issue or what it may be please let me know because it really makes my computer unusable until I fix this. Here is what my usage looks like normally: https://gyazo.com/6006598d1f65f98ce03592ed2478231d
  2. any suggestions on upgrades? not gpu/cpu/mobo. Ive considered a 3rd monitor but meh, its hard to fit it in a dorm room. I more or less need something to tell people to get me for christmas besides money or clothing lol
  3. So would moving to crossfire 290's be a wise move? or just dump the 290 and move to polaris/pascal when they come out, or get the 290 and wait for vega?

I obviously won't be buying soon I would like to see what amd/nvidia/intel all bring to the table before buying. However, I do realize that my cpu platform is aging and I feel like that should be priority 1 as opposed to a new card because I fear my platform choking the card too much. Although i have benched my rig and come very close to most intel platforms with my card and beating some out
  5. Alright everyone, I'm trying to plan some friday/christmas upgrades and see what exactly I can do for my computer to improve my gaming/general usage experience. Is moving to crossfire 290's worth the money? (buying used) 2. Should i move to skylake/zen based on which is better 3. Should i move to the new gpu lines 4. Should I do a combination of things listed above I'll pay attention to this post as much as possible to answer questions and to see what people are suggesting. Also I understand that its halfway through the year, but I am in college and would like to have a general target for how much money to keep around and such. Thank you all for your input and have a nice day! EDIT: The parts list is my last upgrades to my existing system, hence why it says purchased for most of them. Also sorry if not all of this post belongs in this thread but it really had pieces that belonged different places
  6. yeah, I am looking at old boxes and what i could potentially use, I was thinking use my EVGA 1000w P2 box and use the cloth bags they came with to store cables and potential kits, and then buy a CD organizer and put the CDs in that way
  7. Hello everyone! So here is my question, I bet most of us have extra cables laying around, driver discs, windows discs, and miscellaneous (but useful) computer gadgets laying around and have to find a place for it. Well, I am currently in college and I leave most of it at home, and it can be a real pain when I actually could use one of these things. The point is, does anyone know of a bag, suitcase, breifcase, toolbox, etc. that has space for some cables, discs, and other things such as room for a computer tool kit. I keep searching, but cannot find any good candidates I will follow to answer questions Thank you ahead of time and happy holidays
  8. bumped down the core clock, but the only thing i notice is that the smoke in the benchmark seems to have a pink hue
  9. okay so i am running the metro benchmark now, and i get a random flash of an artifact here or there (like 1-3 per run) is this bad? Edit: its not so much an artifact but more of weird tessellation
  10. Will the core keep benefiting from increased memory?
  11. just ran valley for 15 minutes, then benched and capped at 67 degrees and memory up to 1450
  12. I actually was wondering why i get that drop as well, I assumed the scene just wasn't demanding enough
  13. well after playing with it some more, I am up to 1130 core, and 1425 (still oc'ing memory) and it is not stuttering anymore and is capping at 61 degrees during benchmark runs on valley, i will soon try out games
  14. started at 1000Mhz, went for 1100 and was stable, went to 1120 and had a single stutter but nothing bad, jumped to 1150 looking for the instant crash but get artifacting, and with the increase i have gotten much less and I am slowly backing the clock back down. I am currently at 1142
  15. okay will do, brb Edit: still getting flashing grey diamonds on screen, I decided to just crank it up to +50 and received significantly less artifacting. i will increase more
