It would be nice to use my 770, but what are my "Free" options for Cuda encoding/rendering for C4D? Since everything you listed is priced pretty high.

This frame was from C4D, and took 3-4 minutes to render out on my FX-6100

i7-4970K or something else?
MrLizard replied to killzyazmadness's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I'd mainly use the rig for everything: Gaming, Video Editing/Rendering, 3D Rendering/Baking. I have a GTX 770 SC ACX from EVGA, so integrated graphics aren't a problem. Alright, so it would be worth it to spend an extra ~$30 to get the K version? -
Alright, one final question. Will the 4790k run alright on the stock cooler (No Overclock), since I can't afford to get a new cooler also.

What would preformance be between Intel Xeon E3-1276 v3 @ 3.60GHz and the i7-4790k http://cpubenchmark.net Says: I'm currently not going to overclock it, but once I can afford to spend money on a good liquid cooler (probably this Christmas) I will. Also factoring in best price/preformance for the average mig-grade motherboard for their respected socket.

Why Windows Server and not linux? (I'm a Linux Geek)

Personally, I like the Define R4 ($90)

i7-4970K or something else?
MrLizard replied to killzyazmadness's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I'm currently thinking of upgrading my FX-6100, but am confused about the different versions of the 4790. Could someone explain the difference between the i7-4790/4790k/4790s, and what is the best preformance for the money, and the pros and cons of each. Getting a VPS with 1GB+ of RAM on it is no problem. Why would you need to run Windows on it? (Do you mean Windows? or Windows Server?)
-
I'd love to use them more, I just never use them since I never have time to figure out what button does what.

If I were to be able to afford a i7-4790k, (Stock Cooling (AKA No Overclocking)) would it be worth getting the i7? or the equivalently priced Xeon?

Alright, seems like a great option for $250ish after watercooling. Would it be worth $20 to get the 8370? or the 8370E?

how would a FX-9590 step up to a Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3?
