Vaughn's Achievements

  1. Currently, I have a dual monitor setup in my office with a Dell Precision T3600 running two NVidia Quadro 600's. I have run out of video card memory when trying to use Sketchup. It used to work fine but I am assuming that a newer version requires more memory. Any suggestions on what card(s) to buy? As always, I appreciate your input. - Vaughn
  2. Thank you Swidlr - I am curious why you choose the video card setup you did? Would a Quadro K2200 be a better choice? Single monitor and no video production.
  3. Honestly I am not sure the model but I know she uses a Nikon most of the time and a Hasselblad in the studio.
  4. I am building a new PC for my mother who is a professional photographer. She uses Lightroom and Photoshop - lots of large size PSD files. Below is what I have put together so far. Still unsure about video card and case. 5. I want to upgrade but don't want to be the sucker buying new tech that's over priced and not significantly faster than previous technologies. For example - great comparison by Linus of DDR3 and DDR4. I am a heavy user of Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier Pro & Muse) and my next build will be a workstation. What I would be interested in seeing is more videos geared toward content creation hardware/builds and how to get the fastest production speeds per dollar. That would help me to be more confident in making the $4 - 6k investment based on what I currently think the build will consist of. My goal would be to do the build in Feb/March of 2015. Broadwell- wait for it's the next iteration or stay with the Xeon chipset? What are the benefits of x99 workstation motherboard over x97 for content creation? When will the DDR4 speeds get to a point where they are significantly better than DDR3? How will that affect content creation? What's a good graphics card(s) and setup that favors content creation? Do i really need to spend $3.5k on a graphics card? M.2 SSD seems to be the way of the future; do you see that tech making significant advancements in the near term (ex. 3d SSD tech)? As far as I am concerned, spinning hard drives are no longer a thought for the new build. I have transitioned to SSD on both of my current computers and haven't been disappointed yet. I have a Dell Precision workstation now that has carrying handles and is a small form factor. Its very quite and easy to lug around when I work at home on the weekends - I will want the same qualities in the case for my 2015 build - any suggestions?
