New CPU, Motherboard and Ram.
tlmills82 replied to tlmills82's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I'd like to have pcie gen 4 if possible. -
I've been looking for quite some time to upgrade these 3 parts in my PC and saving up for a new GPU when the 3000 series releases. My question is motherboard related. They've been so hard to find lately, but it seems a few have come back in stock places. I'm looking at probably one of 3 I've found in stock. I'd like to stay under $200 US, and am open to other options. Looks like I'll be waiting for the new CPUs and motherboards to drop in late May/June.
-
Well it seems as if the good mobos are all out of stock. Thanks Corona....

I've been talking with a few people on here about upgrading my CPU, Motherboard and RAM. I'm looking to stay around $350 USish. I've been thinking of something similar to: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($174.15 @ Walmart) Motherboard: Gigabyte B450 AORUS ELITE ATX AM4 Motherboard ($109.99 @ B&H) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory ($82.37 @ Newegg) Total: $366.51 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-04-22 02:11 EDT-0400 Any suggestions around this price point? I'll be saving and trying to upgrade my GPU in a month or so.

why the full atx motherboard? Is it worth the extra money? and losing the memory speed?
-
It's intake in front, exhaust out the back. 1 intake, 1 exhaust.
-
I basically got the go ahead from my wife to spend around 350. Is there anything you'd change?
-
So this would be worth spending the extra $30 I assume? PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($174.99 @ B&H) Motherboard: Gigabyte B450 AORUS M Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($85.99 @ B&H) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory ($76.99 @ Newegg) Total: $337.97 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-04-21 02:15 EDT-0400

I'm bad at cpus. How much of an upgrade is the 3600x over the normal 3600?
-
I'm told my cpu would be a bottleneck to a gpu upgrade, so I'm thinking of possibly spending the $300US on a new CPU/Mobo/Ram combo. I'm using: i5 4690k 16gb Ram gtx 970 I'm not looking to spend a fortune, somewhere around $300US ish. I'm looking at maybe something like: PCPartPicker Part List Motherboard: Gigabyte B450 AORUS M Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($85.99 @ B&H) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory ($77.98 @ Amazon) Total: $163.97 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-04-20 22:16 EDT-0400 I have no idea what CPU to use. I watch some Paul's Hardware videos as well as Linus and Paul was saying that the new Ryzen refresh 1600 was good.
-
So no is the answer. Thanks.
-
upgrading the cpu means upgrading motherboard and ram also though...
-
Somewhere around $300 maybe?
-
I'm thinking of maybe upgrading my GPU in my PC (as I can't afford a new PC right now) . My current specs: Intel i5 4690k 16gb Ram GTX 970 I'm looking at maybe buying a 1660 ti or something of similar price. I'll only be gaming at 1080p and I'd like as high of frame rate as I can get for the dollar as I have a 144hz monitor that's going to waste atm.

I'm not sure, neither of us want to spend a ton on it, as we could just use a host online for relatively cheap.
-
My brother and I love to play modded minecraft together, we can almost never find decent servers running the mod packs we want to play. We're starting to discuss investing in some used/budget server hardware that one of us can host in our home to allow us to load a mod pack, play through it and then choose another pack and repeat. My question is what kind of hardware should I be looking at to allow us to play "almost any" pack out there without too much lag. It's just the 2 of us and I've tried hosting on my old machine, it just can't handle the workload.

Are red team cards really better than green? Also I thought the default cooler in AMD was good? -

How's something like this look? I'm not sure what budget will look like as this will likely be a tax time thing once it rolls around. Just gauging what I'll be looking at needing once it rolls around. Right, but my original question was: Is this PC worth upgrading say just the GPU in to make it worth saving or should I start from scratch? -

not OC as I couldn't really dial in a decent enough OC to make it stable. I'm only unhappy with the gaming performance. -
I've had my PC for a few years now and it's been good to me. But I feel the GPU and maybe few other things are starting to lag behind. I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading or if I should just salvage a few pieces (case, PSU, Hard drives etc) and build a new one. I'm only playing 1080p and I have the 144hz monitor which isn't exactly being utilized in most games. What are your thoughts? my pc seems to be having an issue where the left shift key no longer works by pressing, but occasionally it will capitalize a letter while typing. so it works on it's own wheneveR it feels like it. 'ssssssssssssssSssssssssssssssSssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss' that's what it looks lIke when i just hoLd down the s button. I'vE tried new kEyboards and it does it even using the on screen keYboarD. it will fix itself if i restart, but that only works for a few minutes then it goes right back to acting up. Any ideas/

How would that stop me from entering the bios though? Just trying to understand.
