  1. I purchased Windows 10 and tried to do a clean install. It worked until I had to restart my computer for update reasons. By clean install I mean using the uefi to secure erase the SSD's and then plug in the USB drive with Windows 10. The black screen with the blue windows icon and the white dots spinning loads for about 45 minutes, (didn't actually sit there and time it) while my mouse and keyboard cycle the lights off for a while and a quick flash on, over and over. After the ~45 minutes of waiting a quick blue screen pops up and my computer tries to restart. I think the blue screen says something like: " Your computer encountered a problem and needs to restart." It keeps trying to restart but it's stuck in a loop. I wen't to bed and checked it the next day thinking maybe it just needs more time to load something. -I tried manually turning it off and some options to start in safe mode, debug mode, etc I tried each one and they won't get me past the splash screen. -I tried formatting my USB and re-downloading windows 10 a few times. (same thing happens every time) -I tried a different USB drive they are more than 4gb -I tried going from windows 8.1 to 10 using the reserve an upgrade method and the same thing happens, except It reverts back to windows 8.1 with an error code failed update C1900101-40017 in the control panel. And in the help and support window it says search for "windows update_dt000 or C1900101" Should I just wait for windows 10 to get better, or is there something that can make it work now? my parts are here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/K6VPqs
  2. If 5th generation will work on one mobo with 1150 socket wouldn't it work on all of them? I guess maybe some have insider knowledge into how the new processors will connect and are making accommodations?
  3. My "full proof" plan for the future is to get an M.2 SSD, when a decent priced and decent sized one becomes available. I'm not necessarily wanting an SSD and M.2, so a hybrid for now is my way of cheaping out. When a good quality 5th generation k 1150 comes out and I can afford it, I'll be upgrading. These upgrades might be a year or more down the road during that waiting time I want to play games. Being a noob, I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm trying to guess at things I know nothing about. I'm picking this mother board because it's cheaper than an Asus vii hero, it still has the 5th generation upgrade feature and OC potential. I'm gullible, marketing gimmicks work like Jedi mind tricks on me, but I think I want Sonic Radar.
  4. Oh, that's why. Ok updated list http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jT7xVn
  5. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2BJLbv I'm wanting to build a purely gaming pc. I believe this mobo has good headroom to upgrade things later. All coments/tips will be appreciated. I'm trying to get off cheap for now, but want to have room to grow for later. My goal is to play games at decent quality. Can anyone shed light on what this setup can can't do. I'm a noob.
  6. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/bwF8xr This is pretty good I think, I would be buying one graphics card to start with. Can anyone inform me what this build could not do in regards to gaming? I don't really know what M.2 is.
  7. ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO LGA 1150 Intel Z97 Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming GT I'm still confused about mother boards both of these seem like good options. What do I need to be looking at when comparing mobo's?
  8. I am leaving room for overclocking and a future 2nd 980
  9. Do you think asus mother boards are good, I've seen lots of good reviews on them. I don't really know how to decide on a motherboard. If I get the 4790k with the intentions of overclocking it. And I get a gtx 980, with the intentions of connecting it to the 29UM65 monitor using dvi (i heard dvi is better than hdmi?) Based on that info, if it's helpful at all, how do you go about deciding on a mother board?
  10. Gigabyte GA-Z97X-GAMING 7 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming GT ATX LGA1150 Motherboard These look almost the same to me could someone explain what the differences are?
  11. I have seen the errors of my ways. I understand better now why that was so ridiculous sorry again for being crazy. My latest interest is this. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qJ2FYJ
  12. That is what i was referring to I watched a review saying the wide resolution was difficult for some games to run on without tinkering.
  13. Lower is always better for the budget, I don't really have a set budget. I don't want to spend $3500 but at least I don't have to worry about consoles ever again. Also 3500 is way better than my starting $8000 build. The purpose is mainly just gaming and watching movies. I want it to be a little overkill to be future prepaired.
