I recently purchased an EVGA SC 970 that was on sale at my local ncix... i knew pascal was coming soon but recently i sold my 290x because it didnt fit in my new case (it had a custom water cooler and there was not enough clearance for the rad)... i was using a 570 but it ended up breaking...
Long story short im debating between waiting past my return period for evga to announce if their step up program will cover me upgrading to a 1070 or if i should not risk and it and return it before my return policy ends thursday (i will lose 15 percent of the purchase price as a restocking fee but it will guarantee that i can upgrade to pascal)..
in all honesty the 970 performs more than well enough for what i use it for at 1080p but i like the idea of a 4k upgrade path with pascal so im definitely going to upgrade if i get the chance !
thoughts?
actually, i disconnected the graphics card (its a temporary one an old 570) and the computer worked without that weird black screen crash again... im going to go buy a 970 as i dont think i want to use an integrated chip until the new computers launch.
thats weird t hat the gpu crashign would cause the fans to turn off and the screen to go black though.. PC's are curious devices.
My screen doesn't say anything just black.so it must be receiving something from.the PC. I need to power it off then back.on in order for it to boot normally before it crashes again.
Not sure why this started happening .... It doesn't even blue screen it just fucks up ? I checked power connectors everything is fine and temps are fine when I'm.in Windows.. Perhaps the power supply is fucked ?

dont tempt me.... the case has room for any card, its just MATX.... the 290x didnt fit because i had an AIO cpu cooler attached to it (hyper 212 got in the way of mounting it :()
lol ikr... i upgraded my system just to temporarily down grade it however it is much cooler running than my old fx piece of shit... so i cant wait to get a new GPU in this bish
allo m8's
I know new gpus are coming soon but i recently upgraded to skylake and matx and my custom watercooled 290x doesnt fit in my case and im using a 570 (old card) and sold the 290x.... living with a 2012 gpu is hurting my soul however i know if i wait it will be worth it... but at the same time i just got payed and i could have it NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
this isnt really a question just someone confirm that im stupid for wanting to upgrade
im actually selling a liquid cooled 290x atm... i can do it for 320 (this includes corsair h55 liquid cooler+rad+fan, NZXT Kraken and GELID VRM heatsinks) its a super good card im pissed to have to sell but i recently upgraded my build to intel and a smaller case and the Hyper 212 in my new system gets in the way of the tubing
so if you are in the GTA and dont mind trecking to newmarket or aurora i can make it happen for ya man !
that seems like silly decision, if you really need to live on the bleeding edge sell your 980 and buy a new gpu in a month or so wehn the new ones come out
hello guys
I was just wondering if my windows 8.1 drivers (chipset, lan, gpu drivers etc.) need to be upgraded after updating to windows 10. Everything seems to be working fine but I didnt know if this could cause stability issues.
regards,
so will i ahve to wipe my brothers system and install a fresh copy of windows ? i swear that makes no sense ive upgrade gpus in the past and it just reverts to basic windows drivers temporarily while you install the new gpu ?!
I uninstalled the nvidia graphics driver and immediately Windows 10 gave me no display signal.. Isn't there a default one the system uses ?! This is crazy
