It depends what type of games and monitor because the 290 would deliver smoother performance on a monitor above 1080p but then the 970 will give you better overall performance and runs much cooler so id go with the 970 but id go with the Gigabyte G1 970

Ive never had any bad experience with gigabyte and they are one of my favourite gpu companies but id go with a 980 poseidon even though your probably not watercooling they are amazing

Intel chips actually have pretty much the same number because they have HYPERTHREADING! so 4 basically becomes 8 in most cases plus better temps with intel and better stabitlity, better overclocking, AMD is just the cheap alternative although they used to be a little better

The problem with the old board was its backplate did not fit the motherboard tray but it should be solved now but if you dont wanna take the risk go for a vii hreo, ranger or a sabertooth mk1 -
Its the Nvidia drivers they did an update about a month ago which started causing crashes, had it fixed fora few updates and now its back ive got the same problem, sometimes it stop if you reinstall the drivers.

If you want the absolute best performance go for an EVGA FTW but my personal fav is the Gigabyte G1 gaming.

Yeah what got me thinking is that if I dont get a great 4790k I cant overclock it but even if its good its average oc is 4.4 so the AMD would be faster

Im going to be making a gaming rig and cant decide whether to go for a 4790k or a 9590 all I need to know is which will give the best performance nothing else thats all taken care of.

Go for a sabertooth, if its not dark enough then take off the armor and grap some black spray paint. Simple
