  1. In my experience power supplies don't really go on for great sales on black Friday here in Canada anyways. I'll feel better about using a better power supply for my shinny new RTX 2070 anyways. Thanks for all the input at least now I'll know I'm okay to install the 2070 right away if it comes in before the new PSU. This is the PSU I ordered as it was a decent price with a mail in rebate. https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438131
  2. I'm just going to bite the bullet and order a better power supply. This is what I'm going to order: https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438131
  3. Is there any risk of damage to the GPU or anything by running this setup? Considering that the 2070 was quite expensive I'm willing to spend the extra money on a better power supply if you think it would be safer to do so. I have the cash for a new PSU now, I just don't want to unnecessarily spend money that I don't have to.
  4. I already ordered the 2070, and this is the PSU I have:https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=110-BQ-0600-K1 Do you recommend I upgrade my PSU? Because I do fully intend on pushing the card as far as I can get it to go.
  5. I have a 600w 80 plus bronze EVGA power supply. Will that be fine? Will a single 8-pin connector off the power supply be able to provide enough power to an 8-pin and a 6-pin connector on the GPU?
  6. So I just ordered an RTX 2070, but the problem is I just realized I only have one 8-pin PCIe power connector on my power supply, but the card I ordered has an 8-pin and a 6-pin power connector on it. The 8-pin cable I have for my power supply has two 6+2-pin connectors on them. Do I need to buy a new PSU as well or would I be okay to just use the two connectors on the cable I already have? Thanks.
  7. I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for in a distro. But Ubuntu is pretty boring. I'm looking for a more interesting distro. The only distro I have not much experience with is Fedora.
  8. I'm just curious what you guys think is the best distribution of the above options. I'm looking to potentially replace my current distro which is Ubuntu. What do you guys recommend?
  9. Unfortunately in my area the only Skylake CPUs available are the 6600k & 6700k. Plus I'd like to throw my 6600k under water in the future and overclock it. But thanks. I'll hold off on purchasing the monitor for now. If I shouldn't get a CX series PSU or the SSD I picked what would you guys recommend instead of the ones I have currently selected?
  10. My friend's running a 270 with a 500w and he's fine. So you should be fine.

  12. My current plan for the specs is: i5 6600K, R9 380, 16gb ddr4 2133MHz, Gigabyte Z170-HD3 (REV. 1.0), Corsair CX600, Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB, NZXT Source 340 & Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo. Do the latest games still support 1680x1050?
  13. I'm starting to pick the parts for my new gaming rig. I'm trying to cut corners wherever I can. I currently own a Samsung SyncMaster 206BW 1680x1050 monitor. I want to know if I need to invest in a new 1080p monitor (I don't want to because I want to save as much money as possible). I have done some poking around online but I haven't found any clear answers. Is my current monitor okay for a descently high end gaming PC ($1200)? Or will my gaming experience be bad because of my monitor?
  14. Would the amd radeon r9 285 be bottlenecked by an Intel Core i5 4430?
