  1. Thank you very much! I ended up needing to loaf through page on my computer as it wouldn't load correctly (desktop mode) on my phone. Thank you, ~J
  2. Thank you kindly for the well wishes! That is very thoughtful of you! I did figure it out once I loaded the page on my computer, for some reason my phone wouldn't load in desktop mode correctly. Thank you kindly and be well, ~J
  3. Hello, I am a floatplane subscriber, and I am wondering if there is a way to receive notifications for new posts... You'll have to forgive me, I am dealing with cancer, and the medications they have me on make me less than attentive, and plenty forgetful. As such trying to find the way to 'subscribe' or be notified of new posts is quite challenging for me. I am certain something exists, and this question has certainly been posted already, so I am very appreciative of your patience and understanding. Thank you kindly, ~J P.S. HAPPY NEW YEAR
  4. Well, I guess my issue with the nomenclature is that it isn't what it was meant to be. For those that say it is a multiplication of bandwidth, that doesn't entirely make sense, because we would be calling them x64 PCIe slot, since the bandwidth has tripled since rev. 1. I was hoping someone well versed would help me out here, but I suppose when so many people are comfortable saying things incorrectly, that the incorrect way of saying something, for all intents and purposes, becomes the colloquial way of saying a given thing. Thanks for helping me to clear that up...
  5. Okay, Before I go and read all of the angry responses, I apologize for this post, I was half asleep when I made it, and I tend to rant when half asleep, that and the medications for my cancer and kidney failure make me a bit... Wonky... Sorry... Ugh, now I have to read all of this... SORRY SORRY SORRY.
  6. I love LTT, and especially now TechQuickie! It has become a quick and simple place to send people in need of knowledge, most of the time Linus knows what's up, and he doesn't, he says so. The one thing that kills me, is when I speak with engineers and read articles written by people involved in the PCIe development, they ALL say the 'x' as 'by'. Beck, even JJ from Asus says it correctly, and Maximum PC used to circa 2004, not sure if they still do... So my question, why doesn't anybody say it correctly? Is it ignorance, or does nobody even care? Because personally, I am frustrated by the misuse of common words... I say trailer, you think mobile home. I say mobile home you think RV. I say RV, you think mobile home... What happened to consistency for the sake of communication, saying 'ex'16 or 16'ex' has never been correct, I think it has only proliferated because of the internet, but I distinctly recall reading over and over in the early 2000's about how it isn't pronounced 'ex', but the x stands for 'by'... No more excuses folks... That is my useless rant for the day.
  7. If it helps, I really ONLY need the USB 3.0-style connector that goes into the OC Panel. I still have the motherboard end of the connector intact.
  8. Thanks for the post! Unfortunately I can not see them side by side, and from that image I can only tell the pinout of one end... :-( The USB 3.0-style header is covered.
  9. In all honesty, I just need the pinout, if it does not work at the length I intend (~6ft), then I will just go down until it does, and drop about 10% off that for good measure. Have done low-voltage work for about five years I am confident in my assessment that this will work, and although I have gone a little overboard with the cable I am using, I am just lacking the full pinout of the unit... So if someone either knows where I can find it, or if someone is willing to take the requisite five minutes to write it down in their own way (I used W-White, B-Blue, K-Black, X-Empty, O-Orange, etc. etc.), any help here would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, with cancer and kidney failure, this could not have come at a worse time for me, I finally have nearly complete my 'dream rig', well, as close as I will ever get anyway... lol This is pretty much the last thing to have it mostly finished and satisfactory! Thanks everyone!!! Take care. ~J
  10. That was actually the first thing I attempted, sadly there were no high quality images that I felt comfortable with... Super long is about ~6ft. I believe that with the quality of cable I am using, the gauge, shielding and TPI, it will prove satisfactory.
  11. Okay, so, I am currently in the midst of a problem, as with most people on here likely are.. I recently began a mission to remove the OC panel from my front panel, with the goal of extending it... I took the necessary photograph in glorious 36MP with my D800, and ensured that I could tell what went where. Sadly, one of my roommates neglected to follow my "remove ALL cards before use!!!" rule, and in doing so, ended up deleting my photographs... To that end, I really need someone to either photograph (over 24MP probably), or write out (with a color-coded key), a list of the wires and where they go. This way I can replace the short cables with the SINGLE long, shielded cable I purchased (18 conductor+ground) If anybody is able to help me with this, I simply have not found the pinout for both ends, and a fellow over on OCN.net has not followed through with his promise to send it on over (Although he did immediately send pictures, we agreed they were not sufficient enough to see some of the wires' locations). Please, oh please, someone with one of these cables send me the pinout of both ends of each connector... Thanks all!!! ~J
  12. Yeah, it can be a pain sometimes when settings are hidden as deep as they can be, and not in the same place on all systems... :-( Regardless, glad that you found a solution that you can live with!
  13. My apologies, I somehow missed your previous post regarding them working... As for swapping them in software, I honestly can not recall where it is located, It may even be something I saw in the software for my audio device at some point, I can only suggest that you poke around in the audio settings to try and find it... Apologies for my lack of info on that... Sorry about the loss in quality.
  14. Fantastic, so you did end up going with the adapters... Glad to hear it!
  15. Hey, I just wanted to check back and see if you resolved the issue...
