  1. Thank you! This is probably gonna be the one i get. Looks great, and seems to be generally liked. Thanks for all the suggestions guys! If anyone do stumble upon this thread, and has a suggestion though, please don't hesitate to post Have a nice day! /Gammarik
  2. Well, 1440p is the main reason I'm buying a monitor, as I need more screen real estate when I'm editing. The refresh rate is the part of I'm willing to compromise on.
  3. Yeah, but I don't think my rig would be able to run a 4k monitor, in a bunch of the games i play Don't worry about it. It is an absolutely gorgeous monitor!
  4. Yeah, i did look at that one, but it's quite a bit over my budget. I have been drooling over that monitor for a while now, though
  5. Hi all! I'm currently looking for a new monitor, as i want to step up to 1440p, since i do a lot of video production. I've fallen in love with the Acer Predator XG270HU. It has the perfect price, great looks and even 144hz. The only problem is that it uses AMD FreeSync, and i use a nVidia GTX 970 GPU. I've heard a lot about screen tearing being a problem if your computer can't reach the monitor's refresh rate, and i'm sure that won't be possible with my setup. First up, i'd like to ask whether there's any solution to this? This monitor is brilliant for me, and if there's a way to avoid screen tearing, it'd be a definite buy for me. If that's not possible, however, i'd like some recommendations. Basically what i'm looking for in a monitor is 1440p (2560x1440) resolution, 27-inches, a price around but not much higher than $600 and i'd like 144hz with G-Sync, but if that's not possible, then something lower is fine. Aesthetics are quite important to me too, but as tastes are pretty hard to explain, i won't spend multiple paragraphs explaining them. If you think it's sexy, i probably do too. I do like small bezels, that don't extend too far out from the screen though. If i left anything out, please let me know. Thank you in advance! /Gammarik
  6. Hi all! So i'm currently in the process of saving some files from an external HDD. I've dismantled the drives and connected one to my own Windows PC. The thing is that the drives only appear in Device Manager, and not in Windows Explorer. The Disk Management tells me that it's all unallocated. I've tried running Wondershare Photo Recovery, and it managed to find some files, however i only just realized that i need the full version to actually recover it. Do you have any tips on software to use, or other methods of going about it? I'm pretty sure that all the drives are formatted to Mac, since that's what we use at my workplace. I'm also thinking that there's gonna be a problem in transfering them back to my workplace. I've got a 3 TB external drive to move the files on, but if i format it to NTFS our Macs won't be able to read it, and if i format it to FAT32, the 4 GB file limit will lock out a lot of video files. I'm currently at a loss on what to do. I'm really in need of help here! I'm pretty tired, so if any information is missing, please let me know. Thank you in advance! /Gammarik
  7. Alright, thank you for that. I might just get a 980 then. I'll look around. Thank you again! Have a happy new year! ^^
  8. Just to be safe, upgrading to a 970 would be enough to run it, right? I'm sure it will, but i just want to make sure before i decide on anything.
  9. Oh, it would definitely be for the extra work space. I've been editing video on a mac, at my school, and now i can't get used to running Premiere Pro and AE with only a 1080p display. The only reason i'm worried, is because i know that games take a great hit when stepping up from 1080p to 1440p. Well, i prefer to run my games in Borderless Windowed mode, so i can access the stuff on my second monitor without having to minimize the game, so that's not an option...
  10. M'kay. Thanks! Have a nice day! ^^ /Gammarik
  11. Yeah, that was what i was expecting Thank you for the help guys! By the way, which would i need to upgrade to be able to do this? My CPU or GPU?
  12. Hi all! I'm currently considering buying a 1440p monitor, but i'm holding off because i'm worried that i won't be able to run the games i play, at that resolution, without lowering my settings too much. I'm running a GTX 760 graphics card, with a Core i5 4690k CPU. I'm gonna be running a 1080p secondary monitor as well. The games i play are, in order of playtime: Guild Wars 2 The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Hitman Absolution Countrer Strike: Global Offensive Bioshock Infinite My worry is that i'll have to reduce my graphics settings a lot to get playable frame rates (i don't really care about high frames, just as long as they're playable. I don't need constant 60fps). I'm most worried about Guild Wars 2, as it's a very CPU intensive game, and it's already eating up at mine. Will adding more pixels affect the CPU drain, or will it only use my GPU for that? Thank you in advance! /Gammarik
  13. I just googled it, and the Photoshop hotkey is Tab, but it doesn't seem to work in After Effects. Okay, I'll make a thread in the GPU forum later, and ask about the display, then. Thank you ^^ I'd still like to know if there is a program for this though, so if anyone knows something, please let me know!
  14. It probably could, but i'm not ready to take the chance yet. I'll look into getting one some time down the line ^^ I've not been able to find any full screen features in neither Premere or After Effects. I may just be missing it, but google doesn't return any results either.
  15. Hi all! I do a lot of video editing, and I've begun to feel that 1080p isn't enough screen space to do my work. However i, at the moment, don't have the budget for a new 1440p monitor, and i'm not even sure my PC could handle it, in the gaming i do. Anyway, my question is: Does a program that allows other programs to go full-screen, like browers' F11 feature, or the full-screen button on Mac, exist? As in the top bar on the windows disappear, and the taskbar stops popping up every time i move my mouse down there (which happens a lot in AE). It would really make my work a lot easier. Thank you in advance! /Gammarik
