Greetings, I have 3 external HDDs that I wish to copy/clone to a new external HDD. Two of them are 500 GB and one is 640 GB(I think) and all of them are almost full. Could you recommend me a good free to use software to do this and explain to me which would be the better method in my situation: copy vs clone. I understand that cloning is needed if you wish to make 1:1 bootable OS drive, but I have no intention of doing it and I read somewhere that you can also transfer bad sectors over the new drive - I could be very wrong so please correct me. And is it possible to select just a few folders and not the whole drive? And as a side note my new HDD of choice is the WD MyPassport 4TB in the 2,5" form factor - I know it is a good drive. But are there any benefits with going the 3,5" form factor? Here is a link to it (there might be new model, at least in the official WD shop it looks different), the price is 250 in Bulgarian Lev or around 140 USD: WD MyPassport 4TB Thank you in advance!

I would like to thank everyone for the answers. I got the non tinted variant and I like it very much. One thing I didn't consider at first which could have made my choice easier is that I can always apply window tint to the glass and have different light transmission.

Thank you for your reply. It is just too much tint for me, I guess I will be going with the normal TG version. and after looking at this build in daylight it is too much unless I add a fair amount of LED strips. https://cdn.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/233019.b8acb98c682a3d825996f8b72f128510.1600.jpg

Hello everyone, I've chosen the case for my next build, the Meshify C, but I am not sure which version to choose: the Dark TG or the TG one. The tinted version looks sleeker but will it be so dark that I will need to add illumination to be able to see the components? I just can't decide so I need your opinions.

Okay thank you again for the fast and helpful reply. I guess I will go with the components you suggested. And not to spam this anymore I just have two final questions: Is there any difference in quality between the modular and non-modular CX550 from Corsair(the newer grey models)? And should I worry with memory compatibility for the 2nd gen Ryzen(brands wise)?
-
Thank you very much! But I forgot to mention that I won't be able to buy all components at once, so that's the reason I said I could potentially wait for 2050/60. And about the motherboard, will the Asus B450 models be good? Also I don't mind B350 but I want 2nd gen Ryzen support out of the box.

Hello everyone, I am long-overdue for a new computer. I decided that now is the best time to build, since prices of current generation video cards have settled and possible release of GTX 2050/2060 should not take very long time(I hope). The build isn't going to be anything fancy and I would like not to stretch the budget farther than 1400 BGN which is roughly 715 EUR or 830 USD. As my main goal will be gaming with a mix of productivity I want the system to be balanced. Unfortunately I have a TV instead of a monitor, which is a 1080p 23.6" Samsung T24E390EW. Do you think I will be fine with it or I should get a good monitor instead? So here are the main components: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor ($165.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Gigabyte - B450M DS3H Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($69.99 @ Amazon) Memory: Kingston - FURY 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($94.04 @ OutletPC) Storage: Western Digital - Green 240GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($54.61 @ Newegg Marketplace) Video Card: Asus - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB STRIX Video Card ($209.99 @ Amazon) Case: Fractal Design - Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case ($76.99 @ SuperBiiz) Power Supply: Corsair - CX (2017) 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($49.89 @ OutletPC) Total: $721.50 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2018-08-26 14:31 EDT-0400 First off, the case might be a bit too expensive for the build, but due to limited choice of good computer cases here in Bulgaria I chose the Meshify C because it has good airflow, build quality and is the most visually pleasing case in this price segment, well the Dark TG variant might be better looking, but it is 10euro more expensive and since the hardware that will be seated in the case won't be winning any visual awards I am sure the solid panel version should suffice. One could argue that the Focus G is also a viable option, but I do not find it to be as good looking and water cooling support is poor. The power supply is solid choice but I am open to suggestions for better/cheaper models. As for storage I think the WD Green SSD is very good for its price, although I do not know about quality and would like suggestions. Now about the memory, I guess faster memory is better but since the prices are so outrageous I have no idea what is best to choose and on top of that, which memory is better for Ryzen, since not all work very well with it. I hope to find 2x4GB kit because the benchmarks confirm dual channel is better than single. I chose the Ryzen 5 2600 because it is at a decent price while also giving me some future proofing with its number of cores, performance is good and cheaper than Intel. Another option might be the i5-8400. For the motherboard I am not sure which brand to choose since all have their pros and cons and this is the biggest troublemaker in the build, I need a lot of advice here. And finally, the video card: I listed the 1050Ti to represent what I am willing to spend, but can go over budget. Should I wait for the 2050/2060 release or should I go with current gen? I almost forgot the OS, I guess Windows 10 with its "free" state at least for now should be enough.

More Intel leaks.. this one is not good though

Thanks for the fast answer! Well, I could not inform myself very well, some people say that meltdown won't affect normal users that much or at all, and that it is targeted at big companies and bussineses. But I am not sure if I want to risk anything so I might try to apply the patch. My laptop is pretty old, with i3-380m so I don't care about performance anymore. -

Can anyone tell how many generations of CPUs were affected. And what about Windows 7 security update, and will it work on, eh..... "non legitimate" version of Windows 7. -
Guys, thanks for the great replies, but the selection of any PC components and peripherals are very limited in Bulgaria so only the VS,CX,RM and AX series are available, I don't mind going for Cooler Master PSU but they are very limited too and these which are available are higher end, ofcourse there are EVGA or Seasonic PSU's but they are high end too, so I may stick for the VS series. For the case, I'm surely going for N600.

Hi, I made a topic about the PC I would like to build the following weeks: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/202574-first-gaming-pc-build-budget-710/ But I wanted to make better research about my case and PSU. I have two cases to choose between: Corsair Carbide 200R or Cooler Master N600, I love both cases, but the problem is that 200R lacks a lot of filters, front I/O is limited, and other cosmetic problems, although it has great cooling potential for such cheap case. For the PSU I wanted to get Corsair VS650, but someone said it's an overkill for my build and he advised me to come here and get better ideas for PSU. If someone has any ideas, be sure to let me know. Thanks in advance.

First gaming PC build. Budget ~710$
EnderDogeBlaze replied to EnderDogeBlaze's topic in New Builds and Planning
Oh, I forgot to say, about monitor I will be using my old monitor-then I will buy new, same goes for mouse and keyboard. Hm, do you have any ideas for a ghetto fan filter, because the carbide 200r lacks filters, and the filters I need are only for side panel( i will be using the non windowed version) and the bottom. Even though you said the Corsair case is better(and I appreciate your opinion @ZetZet) the N600 still looks "more delicious" for me because of the bottom intake is filtered, also has more exhaust on the side and the front intake is not that much restricted as the 200R one. Still, choosing the case is my biggest issue. -

Thank you for the fast answer but, what if I do future upgrade on GPU, Im sure the 500watt psu wont handle gtx 770, so this means I will need to do a PSU upgrade. Last thing, I know I may sound like a idiot, because software should not be the changing factor when chosing GPU but I want the gtx 750 ti over the R9 270 because of the ShadowPlay, since no software solution is good enough-you know what I am talking about, fraps eats your CPU performance and HDD space when recording, and I am not willing to spend another 100-200$ for capture card. -
Hello, I will need some of your help for my first PC build. The budget in USD is 710$ Here are the parts http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2pKV23 This build may seem really cheap for you, but in Bulgaria this build costs me ~950$ or ~700Euro... Also the choices of products are pretty much limited. I was wondering if I should get i5-4460 or i5-4570 over the i5-4440. Also the case: which is better Corsair Carbide 200R or Cooler Master N600. And the PSU will not be the same, I was thinking of getting Corsair VS650 over the CX600(because its cheaper), but if I get the 200R over the N600 I may squeeze some more money for PSU(note: If I ever do SLI or Crossfire it will be in completely new build, and also the VS650 can handle GTX 770). And its funny because the price of i5-4440 in one of the Bulgarian websites is 200$ and the other website is 240$, even though they are exactly the same..
