  1. Youtube alone shouldn't use up too much ram. If you want, you could always get the new gpu and then see if you need more ram or not. That was why I questioned the suggestion of adding 8 GB. For now I will stick with a total amount of 8 GB. Not a game developer or whatever but my understanding is the cpu kinda tells the gpu what it needs to render, and the gpu renders it. When you increase the resolution the cpu still tells the gpu to do the same things just at a higher resolution. So it isn't really working that much harder because it's still doing similar things. However, the gpu has to render a lot more pixels so it works a lot harder. So when you increase resolution the gpu has to work harder making it more likely to be the bottleneck. My understanding is that this is also sort of the reason why higher settings tend to make the gpu more of a bottleneck as well. Thanks for the explation, it sounds reasonable. The question is just how powerfull my current CPU actually is compared to the suggested i5-8400. Yeah Battlefield V is hard to know beforehand. Ok, so perhaps I should lower my expectations a bit. I still hope an upgrade path is possible for a reasonable price which can utilize some of my current parts.
  2. Thanks for the suggestion. That totals to my budget and seems like a good candidate for a future opgrade path.
  3. I'm not to sure honestly, your best options in my eyes are: New GPU + 1TB HDD New CPU + MOBO + RAM + 1TB HDD Do you also happen to have suggestions for my price range? I haven't looked at PC parts since 2015 so I am really not up-to-date on that front.
  4. It depends on games and background tasks. Some games are fine with 8gb, as long as stuff like chrome isn't eating too much ram in the background. Others might not be so fine though. Depends on game Depends on game and your resolution as well as settings. At 1440p the cpu would be less likely to be the bottleneck than 1080p. If you turn up the settings it also tends to bottleneck less. I might have to upgrade on the ram front I guess. I usually run a game on one monitor while browsing or watching YouTube on the other. Regarding which games: How can the CPU be less bottlenecked by raising the resolution and/or settings? Is it because the work load will be alocated to the GPU?
  5. That sounds reasonable, also 1 TB might just be enough since I do not have a big Steam library. Do you believe upgrading the CPU, ram and MB would yield better results than replacing my old GPU? I have dual channel memory.
  6. How much of a performance increase will I get if I switch to DDR4 instead of DDR3 and will the speed affect gameplay in any sense? Also, why would you disagree about the storage suggestions? What would you suggest instead?
  7. Thank you for your suggestions. As far as I know adding 8 GB ram to a total of 16 GB will not yield better performance in games? I am not sure, so please enlighten me. How much will be a realistic amount in order to game at 1440p and/or 144hz? For storage I am planning to upgrade to a 2 TB HDD, this is not in the $500 dollar budget! Regarding the 1070(ti) will my CPU be bottlenecked?
  8. Thank you very much for helping me out back in 2015 where I initially seeked guidance here on LTT forums. The PC I built back in 2015 was a lower end built which was enough for most Blizzard games and some FPS such as CS:GO. My current setup: Intel Core i5-4460 Cooler Master Elite 311 Sort/Sølv MSI B85M-E45, Socket-1150 Corsair CX 500W PSU MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 2GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 8GB CL9 2x Asus 24" LED VN247H Samsung 850 EVO 120GB SSD (+ a really old 160 GB HDD which desperately needs replacement) I am considering a few options. First off I consider replacing both of my monitors for a single better one, but I am unsure if my system is powerfull enough for 144hz and/or 1440p gaming. On the other hand I am thinking about upgrading my GPU and keep the monitors (perhaps run some calibration tools on them to repurpose them). Perhaps upgrading MB, ram and CPU will yield better results? I am unsure and would like some advice on that front as well. I would like the system to be able to handle titles such as Battlefield V and Assassins Creed Odyssey on high settings with 144hz and/or 1440p. My budget is around $500 (3000 DKK - I live in Denmark). Finally I am also looking for a monitor to go along. This is not within the budget, but will be purchased at Black Friday or Cyber Monday, so here I am seeking advice on what to be looking out for during the sales. Thanks!
  9. Thanks for the feedback so far. I might consider changing the second build to an i3 system. For the first build I see the conserns raised. The build is meant to be a "ultimate" build. Budget wise there isn't one (but should be pay-able e.g. nothing over 30.000 DKK.) So if you guys have some other suggestions I am eager to hear about them! :-)
  10. I would like to have some opinions on these two builds before purchase. Is there something which could be improved or changed? The two PCs have different budgets. They are both meant for gaming. 11. Looks solid to me thanks! However I can't seem to buy the PSU you are recommending. I am going to buy the parts mainly from Denmark. The site I am currently using is: www.komplett.dk Any recommendations for PSUs from a danish site?
  12. Thanks for the hint. I didn't use that feature because I was missing parts. Maybe I should have? I choose UK because you can not select Denmark in the options. Best case scenario is buying from a danish firm. However I am looking for a pc build list and the it is not that important where the parts are going to be bought from. The total budget in £ is around 2500 plus minus.
  13. This is the updated build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/bX2Vgs If the link does not work: MB: MSI Z97 Gaming 5, Socket-1150 CPU cooler: Corsair H105 Hydro Series CPU cooler CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K RAM: HyperX DDR3-1600MHz 16GB PSU: - SSD: 2x Crucial MX100 256GB 2.5" or 2x Crucial MX200 256GB 2.5" HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB Case:CM Storm Scout II Advanced Gaming GPU: 2x MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4GB Twin Frozr Video Card Monitor: AOC 24" LED G-sync g2460Pg I would really like some suggestions regarding the best PSU, combination of HDD/SSD's and 3 monitors.
  14. Thank you guys for the quick replies. The build is for gaming purposes only. I will change the 980 to dual 970's. I will also change out the v300 SSD's.
