  1. Hey guys I went on a 2 week trip and came back yesterday, tuned on my PC and it worked fine (just as it had before the trip) Then I put it to sleep as I normally do and when I turned it on this morning every 5 seconds or so there is a 1 second of "screen lag" Most noticeable in the mouse, it will go smooth then jagged (I'm sure you know what I mean) Any help? I'm working on updating the graphic card now (GTX 980 ti) and I have tried to restart a few times.
  2. HI there My house has been running on the same routers for about 5 years now, and they were old to start with. This is the current configuration: Main Router: 300M TP Link (TD-W8960N) Then it goes to a random TP link booster 150 somthing... Which then leads to me. So far this covers everything in the house, the main router being at one end and the 150 being about 3/4 of the way down (we have very rectangular house!) Now its also important to add that we have a small cottage about 100m away from the end of the house with the main router, I've taken the "150" booster and put it at the closest point and it ALMOST reaches, if the laptop in the cottage is placed in the right place it works just fine. Now the problem is this network is so slow we can't even send photo files to the tv etc... However I'm not sure if its effecting total internet speed because I'm in rural New Zealand and the "advertised" speed is only 5mb/s, the main router gets about 3 and the booster seems to split that in half down to 1.5. So I'm not expecting the new setup to DRASTICALLY increase download time but it should be good enough to work with steam streaming to other devices and for streaming pictures and videos to the TV, I'm also hoping it will help with bandwidth when the whole house is on. So I've got a few ideas on how to do the whole thing but don't know the product that would do it best, here are some of the ideas: 1. Copy the same setup with new tech, aka new better main router, new better booster and then a better ranged booster for going across to the cottage 2. New main router, New booster for the end of the house BUT then get a power point router that goes over to the cottage (its on the same power grid so it should work) however that would need to be a wireless hub over there becuase my dad won't want to deal with a cable 3. A mix of the above two. Also I might get a power point ethernet for myself to get a more stable connection but that's not the point I've heard alot about Asus Routers, and though TP link has been good I'd rather something a bit more serious... Thanks Jayden
  3. Because chrome slows down, and I can hear the drive spin up when I go to a tab that I had open before, or when I load somthing up.
  4. Hi there I've been having an issue with my computer lately, but first I'll lay it out: I7 5820k 16GB Ram 980 ti Storage: 256gb SSD (Windows, program installed (everything but games really) 2TB Seagate (Split into two drives, 1 called files (steam games, other stuff like that and the second on is youtube, where I put youtube footage for my airsoft videos etc) 1TB WD black (D:) (This is where I put my "Jobs" Weddings, productions you get the point, lots of GB of video storage (about 150-300gb) moved around at a time.) Now the problem is that this drive spins up even when I'm not using it, If I use steam, the d drive starts up, if I use chrome, the d drive starts up. And if I am copying something on the D drive (like ingesting footage or something) then EVERYTHING slows down even though I'm only at 50% RAM useage... That's basically the main issue, any ideas?
  5. yea just managed to try the system restore, still no luck
  6. Yea, I though Avast was, and also it took me to a online page bla bla bla, I know its my bad if it is a virus... Now would LOVE to be able to do that, but it does just shut down, randomly and I'm beginning to think it might be the power supply...
  7. Yea but I can't get there... that was going to be my next option but its just not possible, I even put in a windows 8 memory stick and it still crashes...
  8. Hey guys Built this computer ages ago (about 8 months) and its pretty much worked fine untill now, here are the specs: Windows 8 64bit I5820k Asus X-99A GTX 980ti 16gb (2400 I think) 1X 2TB Seagate HDD 1X 1TB WD Black HDD 1x 255(or 230) GB SSD PSW 1000W (Cooler Master) Issue: Ok first, I may have gotten a virus from a jerk in Team Speak last night, but that's only a maybe because the issue has only started about 24 hours after this event. Ok so I was creating something in adobe illustrator and my computer crashed, not blue screened, just straight up crashed and then started to try reboot. After it rebooted I quickly decided to run a scan with avast (just a quick one) JUST in case, but the computer came up clean so I started all over again on the illustrator project (forgot to save ) anyway it very quickly crashed again "Dude, there is something wrong with your illustrator" Nope. I decided this time to do a full system scan, done but nothing found, crash. Then it starts crashing on boot up so now I put it into safe mode, it boots up fine, I open avast and set up a full bootup scan. It crashed before it could even get to the scan... Now it seems that its on a timer, if I turn of the power on the PSU then power up again it might make it 15 second in, shutdown, boot up but only make it 10, then 5, then as low as 1. So now I can't really even put it into safe mode or anything... Ideas? FIxes? Should I find the guy from team speak and beat the crap out of him? Anyway thanks for reading! PLEASE HELP ME!!! EDIT After still trying for ages I think it may be the power supply, as it even crashes in the BIOS and sometimes can't even boot at all...
  9. So here's the deal. over the last year I have been planning, building, and upgrading a rig so that I can run 1440p/4k. The time has come to buy the monitor (right now I'm on 3 1080p) My original pick was the PB278Q as it was well priced, fit the criteria and the reviews were really good at the time. Since about May 2015 they seem to have changed somthing and negitive reviews are rampent, backlight bleed, failer you name it. Though the RMA process seems good in the USA I'm in New Zealand and won't be able to take full advantage of this and I can't really risk playing the lortter when hundreds of dollars worth of shipping is at stake. So I looked for other options and have found the GW2765HT and the U2715H The Gw2765HT seems good, pretty much as good as the Asus, though it does still have some negative reviews its not THAT bad... the problem is there are no main stream reviews of this product (LTT included ) Then there is the dell, $100 dollars more expensive than the GW its pretty nice, good reviews good dell quality... But I would have said the same about Asus a few days ago... So what do I do, do I go with the BenQ (which seems like the best bet ATM) or do I pay a little more for the Dell, or do I take the risk on the Asus! Thanks for your time. Jayden
  10. What would I be looking for sorry? Thanks for the fast reply!
  11. Ok so this might be the wrong place to put this but I really need your guys help! I have been playing RO2/RS for about 6 mouths now, hell even changed computers and had issues all along the way just like everyone else... but then that all changed the day that.... I downloaded and installed Sid Meir's Pirates, a game I wanted to play from my youth! As this game installed I noted that it was also installing DX9 but thought no more of it as every game does that pretty much! Anyway I fire of RO2 and start playing, and notice my ping bugging out, now you have to know that this is normal for me, my ping is always about 240-290 and then I have lag spikes as well! At first I thought I had a graphics issue because the game would run smooth for about 20 seconds and then bug out like the frames were missing 30 at a time! I watched my ping closely and found that it was pinging to the SAME NUMBERS EVER TIME like it was on a timer! After much frustration, internet checking and googling I fingered I would try it on my old computer again, which worked fine! So using the Windows 8 Restore feature I restored my computer to a time before SIDS pirates was installed (it also removed 3ds max but I will get to that later) And the game worked fine... I reinstalled 3ds max and it still worked fine, I re installed The Makerbot Software and it worked fine, it was only when I started DOWNLOADING Fallout NV that the trouble came back (I did pause the download when I played) and now the issue is back! I can't remember why I thought it was dx9, and I guess once it started working again I did not care but now that I have had the issue again (fallout uses dx9 btw) I have an issue because I really want to play both games!!!!!!! And yes I have tried downloading the latest version of dx9 ANY FIXES (and don't tell me its wifi) Thanks guys!
  12. Hi every one I am having issues with what I assume to by my graphics card! When in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 I cannot play back a 1080p screen recorded video file, even windows media player can play it back. I have turned on the drop frame indicator and over a 5 second playback it dropped 120 frames! This is strange because I loaded up another project, this one is made out of gopro files and it works fine??? Here are my system specs: I7 5820k GTX 970 (EVGA SC) Asus X99A 16GB 2400 DDR4 So can anyone tell me what is happening? I got better performance with my old I7 2600k and GTX 560ti? UPDATE: Every time it plays for 4-6 seconds then starts to drop frames Thanks for you help Jayden
