  1. Hey everyone, So for context, I built my first PC in 2014 and I haven't engaged in any computer stuff since then so my knowledge of pc components that have come out since 2015 is very limited. Up until recently I've had no issues in terms of speed but I'm studying industrial design and I've started using programs like premiere pro, solidworks, keyshot and adobe CC very regularly and noticed that my computer is struggling to run them comfortably without lagging. (When I'm rendering 1080P clips on premiere pro, youtube on chrome will lag pretty bad) So i did some research everything is suggesting that 8gb of ram isnt enough, so I want to upgrade to 32gb of ram but was wondering if its worth upgrading my cpu to like a ryzen 5 3600 and as a result upgrade to ddr4 ram? This would be in the interest of "future proofing" it for a while. I've read recent threads that suggest my current cpu (core i7-4790K) is still good but buying 32 gbs of ddr3 ram costs like $300 (in australia) and upgrading motherboard, cpu and getting 32gbs of ddr4 ram will cost me around $650. Do you think thats a smart investment? or do you think I should just buy ddr3 ram and save $300? My build consists of: CPU: i7-4790K at stock 4.0ghz Memory: 8gb corsair vengeance ddr3 GPU: GTX970 Windforce 4GB Motherboard: msi h97m-g43 Storage: samsung 256gb SSD Kingston: 480gb SSd WD blue: 1TB HDD (OG win7, recently upgraded to win10)
  2. there all practically the same, only a couple of dollars different
  3. Hey guys, I'v decided to get the GTX 970 but I can't decide between the ASUS STRIX or the GIGABYTE G1 Gaming. Where I am, the Asus is $70 more than the Gigabyte. The only thing I know about the ASUS STRIX is that it has the feature where the fans stay idol when the GPU isn't under stress, but I've heard that the GIGABYTE G1 Gaming is extremely quiet anyway. So I was wondering if it's worth the $60 more to get the ASUS STRIX. I've also seen benchmarks showing that the GIGABYTE G1 Gaming has slightly better performance (very slightly). I should also mention that the Gigabyte Gpu matchs the colour scheme of the rest of my PC. So in your opinion which one should i get? Some help would be greatly appreciated
  4. It's either an Asus DC2 OC GTX 780ti(3GB) or the Asus Strix DC2 OC GTX 970 (4GB)
  5. what are the main reason for the gtx 970 to be better?
  6. Sup guys, i am not an expert on GPUs so i need some advice. I'm getting a new GPU for my PC and i cant decide between the gtx 780ti or the gtx 970. My build at the moment is: Intel CORE i7 4970K @4.4ghz 8Gbs Corsair Vengeance RAM Coolermaster V650 PSU Samsung Evo840 SSD etc. Btw the GTX 780ti is only $60 more than the GTX 970 so I just want to know which one performs better. Some advice would be greatly appreiciated
  7. Hey guys, I'm starting to notice that my boot up speed (windows 7) is alot slower than before. I got the PC around 2-3 months ago, up until about a week ago the time it took to go to the desktop after typing my password took less than a second, but now it takes 5-8 seconds at least... I have Windows (ultimate) installed on a SAMSUNG 840 EVO 128gb SSD, My CPU is the Intel CORE i7 4970K @ 4.4ghz and I have 8gbs of Corsair Vengeance RAM. My thought is it's because my SSD is almost full (2.54gbs left). But I'm no expert so some help would be greatly appreciated
  8. Sweet! Just what i wanted!
  9. So not much has changed in that regard from Arma 2?
  10. Sup guys, I just wanted to ask how arma 3 would run without a graphics card. I'm getting one in a couple of weeks but i can't wait so i bought the game today. I'm just wondering what to expect. My setup is: Cpu-core i7 4790K @4.4ghz Ram-8gb SSD - Samsung evo 840 And other stuff which im guessing doesnt matter. Btw The GPU that im getting is the GTX970 (Good choice?) Thanks in advance
  11. so do you think it would help if i got fibre optic? or is the current download speed i have enough?
