I'm building a computer for my dad. He wants to play some of the latest games. Nothing hardcore just something relaxing. He has a Intel core 2 Quad 2.5 Ghz now with 3GB of ram and a GTS 250. So it's quite old.
The motherboard I bought has been around for awhile but it should match up well with the other components.
Parts:
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5
16GB Kingston HyperX Fury 1866Mhz
AMD FX-8350 4.0Ghz. I want to try to go up to 4.4 as my max.
Corsair H100i Cooler (likely to be mounted at the top of the Enermax case)
AMD Radeon 280x 3GB
Samsung DVD Burner
eVGA 750w PSU rated at 90% efficiency
Think that's it. It'll be quite a step up from what he had but I want to get a little extra performance out of it if I can get away with it.
If anyone can offer some thoughts and settings on how I can get it to 4.4Ghz stable I'd appreciate it. It would be a great benefit knowing what to set once I get all the parts in and the build set up. Once I get windows and everything installed and stable. Then I'd like to use what you guys offer to get to the 4.4Ghz. Why 4.4Ghz? No reason, I want to keep temps down but offer a little bit extra in speed if I can. The H100i should help make things stable.
Thanks everyone.
