  1. I actually just found the MSI Pro Z690-A still supports DDR5 up to 6400 so might just go with that
  2. @Dukesilver27- @PcBeExpensive Thanks guys. I'm thinking I'll go with the Z790 AORUS ELITE AX. The 6000 memory I'm looking at is on the memory support list, does that mean it's definitely capable of hitting that speed? The board specification says it's capable of up to those speeds, I'm just thrown off by the native column on the support which says 4800. Is that without XMP enabled or something?
  3. @Dukesilver27- Cool thank you. Do you know much about the MSI PRO Z790-A WIFI (https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/product/8m6p99/msi-pro-z790-a-wifi-atx-lga1700-motherboard-pro-z790-a-wifi)? It's a little more expensive but I heard good things about the msi z690-a, wondering if that applies to Z790 too. I'll definitely go with 6000 then, thanks!
  4. Hi, I'm planning my new PC build around a 3080 I recently purchased and I'm planning on buying a 13600k. I'm looking for my motherboard. I don't really have any specific needs in terms of I/O etc, but I've heard Z790 is preferable over Z690 for DDR5 performance. Are there any manufacturers I should avoid? Otherwise I'll pick up the best value Z790 board I can find. I also have a question about DDR5 speeds. I've heard 6400 is preferable for LGA1700 but I'm based in New Zealand so it's about $42 USD more than 6000. Is there likely to be much performance difference between the two? Thanks in advance.
  5. Thanks! I'll probably go with the 13600k, doubt I'll be upgrading again for at least a few years anyway.
  6. Hi, I'm planning my first new pc build in quite a few years and looking to pick up a 2nd hand 3080. I'll be mostly using it for gaming at 1440p. I'm trying to decide between a 13600k with DDR4 or R5 7600 with DDR5 (both 32gb). I'm based in New Zealand, where these two options are pretty much the same price (the 7600 option is around $25 USD cheaper). I've heard the 13600k outperforms the 7600 a decent chunk but I'm trying to work out whether this is worth missing out on both DDR5 and the upgrade path of AM5? I've also considered the 7700 but this option is around $125 USD more than the 13600k here, though my budget is fairly flexible. What sort of performance increases could I expect with a 13600k over the 7600 with a 3080 at this res? And what kind of longevity could I expect from the 13600k before I'd be pressed to upgrade? Any input is appreciated.
  7. Damn the XPS 15 is just over budget and I think the XPS 13 will be a little small hahahah. The 13 might still be a good option but if I could find something in between it'd perfect
  8. I'm looking for a laptop as I'm about to leave for university. I have a budget of around $1500-1800 max and need something for general course/everyday use and potentially some light gaming. I don't care much for features like touch screen etc. but I'd like something with a decent build quality and keyboard. Any help is appreciated.
  9. Hahahaha, thanks mate. I converted by own currency to USD as I figured the majority of the users here would be American.
  10. Hi. I'm looking to purchase a laptop in the $1300 range for general college use. I won't be using it for gaming but I'd like something that will keep me going for as long as possible. I don't know much about mobile specs but I'm assuming I want something Kaby Lake with an SSD. Thanks for any help! Edit: I'm not too worried about aesthetics but the lower the weight the better
  11. I'm looking for a 1080p 60hz monitor to run with my GTX 960. I'm living in New Zealand so some options are limited but I'm looking for something around the 23'' mark. Not sure whether to go TN or IPS. I use my PC for playing video games, the most competitively demanding being Overwatch and very occasionally CS:GO, and also for browsing, school work and watching movies etc. Would prefer something under 2ms response time and with HDMI + DVI/Display port. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
  12. Thanks for your help! I'll take a look.
  13. Ahhhh, I see. I'll remember that for next time.
  14. USD. Yeah I kinda assume it's not gonna help people a lot though, they won't really know what's available here.
  15. The problem is the monitor isn't an upgrade my old one broke. Also I live in New Zealand where that monitor isn't available
