  1. So luckily, I managed to find a metal working place in my city that delivers! Only problem now is I need to know the metal gauge...I'm thinking 2mm is a proper thickness but I have no idea how to figure out the AL gauge for metal. I'm going with aluminum for the metal and hoping it will be ok to paint.
  2. Hey, came across this thread whilst trying to figure out a solution to my, luckily, exact same case; 750D. I've come to realize a solution to an unrelated problem is just to hide everything in a PSU shroud, and I can buy the sheet metal and paint it no problem, but I live in Ottawa, Canada, and I just called my local Home Depot and assuming the woman on the phone wasn't ignorant, she said they will not cut or bend metal for me. Any suggestions, or comments? :'(
  3. Wanted to post an update: Got the QR in my hands, finally after it's long trip from Germany to Canada. I hate speaking too soon, but this panel is utterly fantastic. It came pixel perfect which is lucky as hell because the box was mangled to all hell. I have a Viewsonic VP2770 beside it (currently the best PLS panel on the market for multimedia/general use/gaming) other than the Korean exports. The PLS panel is quite a bit darker even at equal brightness levels. As far as input lag goes and responsiveness goes, it comes with 5 overdrive levels (0-100 in increments of 20) and I'm using 80 right now, and it's there's no ghosting, at least, no ghosting you'd ever notice. I tested it with Starcraft which is very hard on monitors that overshoot due to the high contrasting colours moving quickly, and I tested it in BF4 test range, which is usually pretty good for finding ghosting and general "slowness" to pixel transitions, and the panel performs better than the VP2770 in my subjective opinion. All in all, quite pleased with this panel. I love the physical design, and it's taken me ages to find an LCD with the characteristics I want. Who knew I'd find it in an obscure model change only sold in Germany and UK...??
  4. I ordered one from Germany the day before last, so we'll see how it goes when I get it. I'll post a small write up of my impressions as I use my panels for gaming, colour sensitive artwork, and general use, where as most people here don't seem to use themf or anything other than workspace, and Im decently educated in input lag and overshoot beyond "it's ok", which is what you typically get from people who don't actually care what panel they use. Expected delivery was around the 26th of August.
  5. It's more about how things move than the colours accuracy, although, I have a wide gamut H-IPS and an 8bit PLS and they look quite different, but that's to be expected.
  6. The normal PB278Q uses PWM. The 278Q is a Samsung PLS panel. I don't know what you mean by the TV thing..do you the way the panel looks, or the physical monitor? The Panel looks like a TV? I mean, my experience with PLS is that it's a very soft and whispy image...it makes everything look like a soap opera and I don't know if it's just PLS, or if im just late to the game and that's just how monitors look these days.
  7. None of Asus' current line baring the QR are any good, really. Or, I should say, their panels are aged by now. The best one is the 278Q which uses PWM which was a horrible design choice. It's also PLS, and I'm not sure if PLS is really different than IPS. I have an H-IPS beside my PLS and the H-IPS looks much better in games, even though it's input lag is 20-50ms, and the PLS is 7ms.
  8. They don't intent to bring it to other markets no. If you want the QR, you have to buy it from Britain or Germany.
  9. Hey guys, I quickly created an account to post in this thread! First of all, I've been following this product closely for a while and after contacting ASUS, they've told me this monitor is purely for Europe, and they aren't, or at least, have no plans on bringing it to any other market. They told me the normal PB278Q and PA279Q fill out their product line for America and see no need to introduce a new model. That being said, I'm debating whether to purchase this from Germany as Germany is the main seller right now. The price is actually quite fair if you get it from Maxeedo. The only issue being that I live in Canada, it will be far too expensive to ship it back if I happen to get a really bad panel. So, I have a few questions to the people who own one as the only hands on perspectives on the entire internet seem to be on this thread. 1. It apperantly has adjustable overdrive. How many levels? 2. How bad is the ghosting, overshoot and motion blur? What overdrive setting are you using to get best results? 3. How bad was your panel? # dead pixels??
