  1. I just got a steal on craigslist for (2) R9 280x's for 100 dollars each, and I want to crossfire them. My only concern is if my fx-6300 will be able to keep up. My goal is to play at 1080p on a 144hz monitor, with all games maxed out. My mobo will be upgraded to the Ga-970A-DS3P so I can crossfire. All opinions and thoughts on the fx 6300/R9 280x crossfire set up welcome. My current build is Mobo: ASRock 960GC-GS FX Ram: 8gb crucial 1600 (1866 oc) Psu: Thermaltake 750W power supply Gpu: Pny 2gb Gtx 660 Cpu: Amd FX-6300 (Turbos to 4.1ghz) Storage: Hitachi 1tb 7200, WD 500gb 7200

  3. I am building a very low budget machine with my brother. We are reusing a case from a HP Pavillion A000 and the motherboard from a Dell Precision T3500 (Mobo:9KPNV). I need to know where do I plug in the Power sw, Reset sw, Power led, and HDD led? Computer specs: CPU: Xeon W3520 MOBO: Dell 9KPNV RAM: 3 x 4GB DDR3 1333mhz GPU: Geforce GTS 450 HDD: WD 500GB Sata 3 7200rpm PSU: 365w ODD: DVD writer CASE: Reused from HP Pavillion A000 This computer is being built for ~$100. I found the manual for the T3500 on google but it just shows where the front panel cable plugs into the motherboard but doesn't explain which pin is for what. I know this is a challenging question but I really appreciate anyone who helps. Thanks
  4. with 1366 you cannot remove the back plate. its attached to the socket. And the new mobo didnt come with a heat sink.
  5. WARNING: i am a forums noob!! I bought a server motherboard off ebay last week to replace a motherboard that died. Its an older LGA 1366 Dell server board that i got for 50 bucks. (idk exact model) Idk where to find it either iv looked everywhere.. these server boards are so different than consumer grade.. anyway my problem is the backplate has a completely different mounting mechanism for the head sink. instead of being threaded like normal lga 1366 back plate it has a threaded prong sticking up instead.. please help and if i forgot important info please ask as i will give any info i can. I wish i had the exact model of the motherboard as that would make things much easier. So frustrated
  6. Thanks to everyone who helped. Bump, new question.
  7. Iv tried different power supply, and iv tried a different CPU, im still not getting a boot screen. My Gpu fans spin up and so does my heat sink, Would they spin up if my motherboard was fried?
  8. Ok, now the psu fan is spinning up again, and so is the cpu fan without the card reader. what was smoking? was i taking to much voltage from the 4 pin or what? im going to hook up a monitor and see what happens.
  9. is that a bad psu? thermaltakes are shit?

  13. Hello, I have a very simple question i cant seem to find anywhere, Can you fry a motherboard by drawing to much power from a 4 pin connector? I tried hooking up a fan controller and 2 fans to a 4 pin on the motherboard and it smoked and the controller didnt light up and now im not getting a boot screen. Heres my system. Mobo: GA-MA78LM-S2 Processor: AMD Phenom™ II X4 955 Processor, ~3.2GHz Heat Sink: Zalman CNPS5X Memory: 4096MB of Crucible 800mhz RAM Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Power supply: 750 Watt Thermaltake semi modular Storage: 250Gb WD caviar
