1. I just got a repair guy in and we tried everything. Turns out that he thinks that the motherboard had issues when it arrived and its just got worse. So i'm sending it back as DOA. Not great for a first PC build :/
2. I have just built a pc with a maximus vi hero, I had got through the bios, and began installing windows when my system suddenly shut off. i rebooted fine, all the fans booted and the debug led shows AE, however, nothing is coming through the hdmi cable onto my monitor, it acts as if the computer is off. If it helps, the shutdown occured mid instillation when i nudged a psu cable by accident :/
3. Well, I have ordered the parts having got the go ahead a bit early, and due to a few complications I have changed a few things: 1. With the RAM not really available in the UK yet, instead of waiting i got 16gb 2133mhz dominator gt ram, and a maximus vi Hero 2. no fan controller as of yet 3. 780 replaced with a 770 direct cuii as the 780 wont be shipped by amazon for a month or two
4. Hm I guess, i just like the idea of having an easy way to quickly adjust fans dependent on the current workload, but that might be a good place to start cutting costs
5. I guess but sometimes its good to to remain slightly within the realms of sanity. My overall pricing is £2700 for the desktop, nice peripherals and i need a cheap laptop for sixth form. Those parts come to around £1700 on amazon. I also am looking at a £500 1440p viewsonic monitor, so i'm kinda scraping the bottom of the barrel with money availlable :(
6. Hello everyone from the forum, i've been planning a build out for about 2/3 months, which i plan to assemble around the time of my birthday (hopefully giving me that last bit of money to top off my savings). However, I've kind of changed the parts list about 1000 times. So i figured i'd get some opinions of people on my part choice. So hear you go MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte z87x-ud4h. RAM: 2x4gb Corsair vengance pro red, 2x4gb vengance pro grey CPU: i5-4670k GPU: EVGA GTX 780 ACX SOUNDCARD: Asus xonar phoebus SSD: Samsung 840 pro 256gb HDD: WD caviar black 2tb ODD: Asus blu-ray player (who ever really remembers the model number) FAN CONTROLLER: Lamptron FC5 V2 CASE: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 PSU: Corsair AX860 (with the phase 2 red cables) COOLER: Corsair H100i Fans: AF140 for the case, SP120 for the h100i Lastly, i am open for suggestions but I just want to justify two selections, the RAM and the MOBO. If you look at the end of this video: where he has the silver and red on the ud4h, they just fit perfectly. Also, all my parts should follow a red, black and silver colour scheme.
7. I'd actually pay a fair amount for a custom case like this
8. I probably will do, but I just wanted to know that it doesn't have to be done straight away, its just something I can do to fully utilize the pce-a66. Also, like the PCie card, would an AC router be fully backwards compatible (able to connect to any 802.11 b/g/n device) as long as its dual band?
9. So you can't have an AC wireless Pcie card with a non-ac router?
10. I'm about to build a PC in July and I have most the parts picked out, however one aspect which I have very little knowledge on is wi-fi cards and the various wi-fi standards 802.11n/b/g/ac etc. So, when looking into it, I figured, "Wi-fi cards are all fairly cheap, I may as well get something like the Asus PCE-A66, which claims to be very good". However, there are two terms associated with it, which I don't really understand: 1. Wireless AC. As it is wireless AC, does that affect what routers it will work with, or do I simply plug it in, download the drivers and it'll work with any router. 2. Dual band 2.4ghz/5ghz. I kinda get that they are two different frequencies. However, once again does this have compatibility issues. Will the device work just fine with my router (BT homehub 3), or will i need something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-RT-N66U-Wireless-streaming-Warranty/dp/B007W16SMO/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1368528306&sr=1-1&keywords=dual+band+router Furthermore, if i was to upgrade to this router, will all my standard 2.4ghz devices such as an iPad or a laptop such as the HP envy 14 spectre work with it. Especially some of the old devices such as an ancient ThinkPad which my parents have? Here is the wi-fi card: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-PCE-AC66-1300Mbps-Wireless-Interface/dp/B00BB3D8Y0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3012J9TG0JX1Q&coliid=I7WLGCKYM0OG7
11. I've been using the razer naga 2012, but due to it falling out my suitcase, it may be coming to an end, and seeing as i'm about to switch to a desktop and will be buying a full set of peripherals, I may as well replace my mouse. I quite like the Naga, but then again its the only proper mouse I've used, and i'm no expert. So that's where the forum comes in. So i will give you all the info i can, and let you do recommendations. 1. As for colour, i will probably be getting a corsair k70 keyboard, with a red themed build, so red is an ideal colour. 2. I like the look of the razer naga Epic. It offers the colour changing i want, and a great sensor. I wouldn't be using the wireless for gaming. So i presume that when it is wired, it is as responsive as any 5600DPI wired mouse, just with a wired option. 3.Despite having an MMO mouse, i'm not an MMO player. I mainly play FPS and RPG games, so two or three buttons on the side is all i need 4.Budget isn't a huge issue ;obviously ;within reason though. 5.I have fairly large hands. I can't quite palm the naga, my index and middle finger are about 1cm to long. That isn't to much of an issue, i just slightly bend my finger (kind of a claw/palm hybrid), but anything significantly smaller could be an issue.
12. Although i don't like EA. I do like battlefield, and battlefront 3 on frostbite could work. Lets just hope it goes the battlefield way, not the medal of honour way
13. Looks great so far :)
14. Was that SnypeUXD's comment which slick referred to in the livestream, cus they were laughing at a post slick saw where the person said "i don't care if they offer a game i'll buy anyway"
15. http://hexus.net/gaming/news/pc/53873-battlefield-4-feature-next-gen-amd-never-settle-bundle/ Will this make a lot of people go to AMD? Will this mean BF4 is optimized for AMD, especially seeing as the Demo was on the 7990? Are you excited for this?
