  1. Same plan here. Looked at some benchmarks and it's a huge improvement over the 1080Ti. Going to be a pain to get my hands on one though.
  2. That's unfortunate. But yeah it is pretty old so i guess that makes sense. I'll just keep it underclocked by 100mhz through afterburner.
  3. I never overclocked my GPU, so it would just boost to the manufacturer's clock speeds, which I believe is 1708 MHz in boost mode. But now I underclock it by 100Mhz through afterburner to get it not to crash in most games. Some games don't crash when it's at the default boost 1708, but many others do. I always thought the manufacturer's boost clocks were always tested to ensure they remain stable.
  4. Also my CPU is overclocked to 4.8 and RAM is xmp to run at 3200mhz. Do you think that may have something to do with it? The only reason I think not is because my issue goes away after I downclock my GPU, so not sure if there is any correlation between a CPU and RAM OC.
  5. Don't think it is unfortunately. I've tried many different drivers and it doesn't help.
  6. So I’ve had my build for ~4 years now. I have a GTX 1080Ti Asus Strix O11G so it comes factory overclocked/boosted. About a few months ago I noticed that some games like Modern Warfare, FFXIV, etc. randomly just freeze/lock-up until the game boots me to the desktop with a crash error code. After some troubleshooting, I noticed that when I underclock my GPU by about 100-200Mhz the games don’t crash anymore, so it looks like Asus’s factory OC on the card is causing the crashes. I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to fix this so I don’t have to underclock my card below it’s factory OC. I never had this problem when I first got the card and I thought manufacturer’s tested factory OC’s to make sure they are stable. I’ve tried reinstalling drivers and updating as well as reinstalling my W10 OS with no success. I also haven’t cleaned my computer in several months so maybe dust could be an issue? Not sure what the best way to clean my computer would be though. Build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VJPPHN
  7. Yeah I’ll try that. It’s been a few months since I cleaned it so it’s pretty dusty.
  8. Nope, everything is pretty much the same system wise.
  9. Yeah it’s two separate PSU cables, each 8 pins. Unfortunately I don’t have another system to test, but this issue started happening a few months ago where before it was fine.
  10. 2 cables, each are 8-pin connectors...
  11. GPU has 2 8-pin connectors, it’s plugged into the MB directly and using original cables.

  14. By “good” I basically want it as buttery smooth as possible, so the higher frames it can hold and hold that consistently. The X950G I have now is smooth in stable scenes, but as soon as there is even a little bit of motion, the frames drop and stutters/judders happen, making it pretty much unwatchable. It’s mainly due to the fact that the X950G has no “High” CineMotion option where as the older X900E/F models do. The X950G only has the option of “Auto” which will automatically adjust the CineMotion and it’s terrible at it. It constantly adjusts which basically results in the stutters/judders and overall choppyness when I have try to maximize SOE.
  15. I'm looking for a 4k TV that has good SOE. I like SOE and watching movies/gaming in the highest frames possible. Is there any TV out there that has good motion interpolation to provide great SOE without constant stutters/judders? I purchased the Sony 55X950G but it makes watching things with SOE unbearable due to constant stutters/judders. The motion interpolation options on the X950G have been reduced compared to it's older X900E/F models which is completely idiotic by Sony. I was looking at the Samsung 55" Q70R, but not sure how the motion is on that. I've been getting conflicting answers, some saying motion is good, others saying it's bad and has terrible SOE with stutters/judders. My budget is ~$1k. My main goal is to watch movies in 60 or 120fps, and play games on my Switch (that are usually native 30fps) at 60 or 120fps as well without any stutters/judders, such as Pokemon Sword.
  16. Tried, but didn't work. Think it has to do with the monitor.
  17. So I have an Acer XFA240 as my second monitor. It is a G-sync 1080p 144hz monitor connected to my GTX 1080Ti GPU via DisplayPort. The issue is, when I turn off the monitor's screen by pressing the power button, the monitor completely turns off to the point where it disconnects from my GPU. It doesn't even show up in my Nvidia Control Panel. My main monitor is a Dell S2716DG which is also G-sync, 144hz but 1440p. It is also connected to my GPU via DisplayPort, but it doesn't have that issue. Anyone know a fix for this? It is very annoying because I soon as I turn off the XFA240, all my windows get transferred to my main monitor. Also, if I turn it off, my wallpaper gets reset to the wallpaper of my main Dell monitor. Furthermore, my color settings in the Nvidia Control Panel also seem to get reset upon computer restart, but I don't know if it is related to this specific issue. I read somewhere that the monitor disconnect issue has to do with DisplayPort, but I don't get it because my Dell is also connected via DisplayPort but doesn't have the problem my XFA240 does. If I turn off my Dell by pressing the power button, the screen simply shuts off as it should, and it still shows up in my Nvidia Control Panel.
  18. So I had the A04 version of the Dell S2716DG monitor which I purchased years ago and it suffered severe color banding issues. I talked to Dell Support recently and they offered to send me a refurbished one as a replacement. My new monitor came in today and it looks brand new surprisingly, and the revision is A09 (August 2018) as well. I heard newer revisions drastically reduced color banding and upon testing it out, I noticed that color banding was in fact greatly reduced. The only problem I am seeing now is the viewing angle with the A09. For example, when I lower myself down even a centimeter and look upwards towards the monitor, I can see that the color on a white background (e.g. Google opened on a browser) changes to a slightly yellowish tint. When I tilt my head back up, the colors return back to a normal white. I still have my A04 with me that I must send back in place of my A09, but I tested it this on my A04 and it did not suffer from the viewing angle issue I am having with my A09 at all. No matter how much I lower myself downwards, the colors remain almost the same on my old A04 revision and there is no yellowish tint. Does anyone else experience this issue with the A09 revision? Is it possible I may have a bad monitor, or is this normal with A09 revisions? I'm only cautious because my A04 did not suffer from this at all, just severe color banding. Here is a video of the issue on the A09 revision: https://imgur.com/a/VaBxuah More videos: Comparison on A04 revision: https://imgur.com/a/aSS3mgQ (Yellow tint hardly noticeable when I'm tilting down) Comparison on A09 revision: https://imgur.com/a/GLLumy6 (Yellow tint very noticeable when I'm tilting down) As you can see, it is pretty bad since even the slightest tilt downwards causes this yellow tint on the A09 revision. Should I ask for another replacement?
  19. Thanks I didn't even think of that lol. So I ran a 60fps video and it looks smooth, like 60fps. Someimtes I feel like it dips down, idk if its the monitor not being able to hold 60fps or just the video. But it is definitely 60fps, maybe it's just normal. The only thing is that when I scroll in a we browser, just feels sluggish like 30hz.
  20. So I just setup my second monitor (Acer R420HY bidx), and whenever I switch to it, it doesn't really feel like its 60hz. My main monitor is a 144hz G-sync so I know it would feel more sluggish, but the second monitor feels like sometimes 30hz on the Desktop, especially when I'm scrolling in a web browser. I checked my Nvidia control panel and Windows dispay options and ensured it was set to 60hz. Is there anyway I can check the current Hz its running under? I tried the blur busters website but that stupid site never works, keeps giving me sync errors.
  21. Yeah I was thinking of doing that, just buying a wood piece and putting it on the ground with my PC on top of it. That will free up some space. I did find another desk for now to be able to use a second monitor, but I still end up having to turn my head about 45 degrees to look at it lol. My currenr setup just just gives me like no room, it's so frustrating.
  22. I have my own custom color settings set in Nvidia control panel but randomly when I restart/shutdown my computer, the color settings will reset. Sometimes they apply but other times they don't, it's so annoying. I have to open up NCP and select the "Use Nvidia settings" again under "Adjust desktop color settings." It didn't use to do this before, it just started happening a few weeks ago. I've pretty much tried everything I could think of. Solutions I've tried: Updating my GTX 1080Ti drivers/clean installing video drivers through DDU, updating Windows through Windows update. Going into color management and making sure my settings are correct there by following this guide (https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/7k8vxh/how_to_fix_nvida_control_panel_colors_resetting/) Going into Task Scheduler and tried disabling "Calibration Loader" and the triggers under "WindowsColorSystem" by following this guide (https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/7b0kpb/fix_for_windows_10_resetting_nvidia_color_profile/) Making sure that my Fast Startup option in Power Options is turned off and my color range in the Nvidia control panel is set to Full. Installing monitor drivers (Dell S2716DG 27' 1440p 144hz G-Sync). NCP still just randomly resets the color settings to default, making my screen bright and washed out. I'm running out of solutions and was wondering if anyone has suggestions or is also experiencing the same issue. I'm on Windows build 1809 by the way. Thanks.
