  1. Gotcha. I was monitoring temps and when gaming low 70’s were the max it reached. And voltage was around 1.25 when running at 4.5GHz.
  2. Yup, but I actually just enabled Asus's MCE and chose "yes" to that prompt in order to sync all cores. Now when I play Valorant my CPU stays at 4.5GHz constantly and I experience no stutters at all. Before (when I had MCE disabled), my CPU speeds would fluctuate rapidly. I also made sure that when my PC is idle, the CPU speeds don't stay locked at 4.5GHz, they drop to like 800Mhz and spike to 3.6Ghz, etc., which I think is normal? I also set individual settings for all my games in Nvidia Control Panel to set my power management mode for my GPU to max performance. Doing all this seemed to have gotten rid of the stutters. Hopefully all the changes I made are safe for my CPU/GPU.
  3. Yeah I actually have a Gsync display so I use Gsync + Vsync and cap my fps to -3 of my monitor’s refresh rate, so 141Hz. It’s really weird though, in every game I play, I get microstutters every few seconds whenever I move. It almost feels like a slight “skip” or “hitch”. Not sure what it causing it, and I was thinking maybe it could be my CPU since it’s pretty outdated.
  4. So that’s the confusing part, if I turn on XMP it comes up with a prompt saying: “Do you want to apply all core enhancement with xmp settings for improved performance, yes or no?” If I say no, it still sets Asus’s MCE to “auto” and not “disabled”. I can disable it manually, but it’s just weird that it gets set to “auto” by default even though I say no to the all core enhancement. And I’m using an H115i. I tested temps with MCE enabled and I was getting around mid 70’s at most.
  5. Should I enable Asus’s MCE (multi core enhancement) if I have a i7 7700k? When I turn XMP on it gives me a prompt if I want to enable MCE, if I say no it sets MCE to “auto” which is confusing and doesn’t disable it. I’m getting a lot of stutters and noticing my cpu clocks down and fluctuates a lot when gaming. Also have my 7700k paired with an RTX 3070 and play on 1440p. All games experience microstutters and I’m wondering if my CPU is the issue.
  6. Thanks, so I assume you left speed step/shift enabled as that was the default? And I might just do MCE option and call it a day. As long as it doesn't do too much harm to my system lol. My set up is 4 years old now, my 1080ti died on me but my friend let me borrow his 3070, so I'm rocking it with my 7700k.
  7. Yeah, I dipped into the OC field a while back but just not my thing lol I see, my only question is if MCE is enabled + sync all cores, what happens to Intel Speed Step/Speed Shift? If enabled, wouldn't that clock the CPU down when idle? I don't think MCE/sync all core settings override Intel speed step/speed shift unless they are disabled.
  8. Hmm ok, so could the CPU speed fluctuations be the cause of the stuttering I get? I'm debating on just turning on Asus's MCE and setting CPU core ratio to sync all cores. As long as my CPU clocks still throttle down when idle I am ok with it, but not sure if it will.
  9. I've noticed that my CPU (i7 7700k) speeds fluctuate a lot when gaming in for example Valorant. In task manager, I see it fluctuating from 2Ghz, to 3, to 4, etc. Is this normal? When gaming though shouldn't it stay locked to my turbo speed? I'm getting massive stuttering in Valorant and wondering if this could be the cause? In my BIOS I have no overclocks and disabled Asus's multicore enhancement as well. CPU core ratio is also set to "auto". My temps are all normal. I did enable asus's multicore enhancement and set cpu core ratio to "sync all cores". When I did that all my CPU cores stayed at 4.5Ghz when gaming and I didn't notice any stuttering. Although not sure if it's safe to have it on. I monitored my temps and my CPU never goes past 70C, GPU doesn't go past 65C.
  10. Thanks, I actually found out that if I make the below tweaks: Nvidia Control Panel: Power management profile: Maximum performance Shader cache size: Unlimited Windows 10 Settings: High Performance power profile BIOS: Disable Intel SpeedStep Disable Intel Speed Shift Technology Disable CPU C-states Auto on Multicore Enhancement Yes to XMP to sync all cores It eliminates most stutters. My only question is, is this safe to do considering my CPU and GPU will run at max speeds even when my computer is idle? Also, is my CPU likely causing stuttering since it’s pretty old?
  11. I’m getting microstuttering across most of my games. Running 16gb ram, i7 7700k, RTX 3070, and using Gsync with optimal settings (Gsync + Vsync on, max fps capped to -3 of monitor’s refresh rate). I initially had a GTX 1080Ti which caused stuttering all games including League of legends but my 1080ti died on me and I’m borrowing a 3070. With the 3070, stuttering in league is gone, but I still get a ton of stuttering in other games like Valorant. Also tried using DDU to clean install drivers but I still get the issue.
  12. Money really isn’t an issue for me and my current build is dead in the water thanks to my GPU dying so I need to get a new build.
  13. Thanks but is there an Intel equivalent to this build? I’m primarily looking for an Intel/Nvidia build.
  14. Budget (including currency): $4000 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: FFXIV, Apex, BF5, New World, Lost Ark, etc. Other details: Don’t need monitor, keyboard, mouse, or headset My old build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VJPPHN So my 1080Ti just died on me and I’m honestly thinking of just building a new computer (Intel/Nvidia) at this point since my current build is ~4 years old. Is it recommended considering how outdated my current build is? If so, I have a $4000 USD budget. Also open to the option of buying prebuilt because I hear it’s a better deal with the way GPU prices are now, but I’m not sure what my best options are.
  15. I don’t think heat is an issue because my temps were fine. They wouldn’t even reach 70C when I was monitoring it.
  16. So this is my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VJPPHN Had this build for about 4 years now and I think my GPU kicked the bucket for good. Several months ago I noticed all games would crash unless I underclocked the GPU core clock by -150MHz in MSI Afterburner. Now all the sudden games are crashing regardless even if I underclock the GPU more. I had to force shutdown my computer since it crashed in the game in the video below and my computer is not even booting past the BIOS now. Anything I can do to try to possibly fix this? Worth it to try reseating GPU, blowing out dust, or anything like that? IMG_9721.MOV
  17. Thanks I tested it and if turbo boost is disabled MCE only boosts to 4.2Ghz on my i7 7700k so turbo boost needs to be enabled so MCE can boost all cores to the 4.5GHz boost.
  18. I see. But my question is should I turn off Intel's turbo boost since MCE boosts all my cpu cores to turbo speeds anyways?
  19. I have an i7 7700k and IX Formula motherboard with an H115i cooler. From what I read: Asus's Multi-core enhancement (MCE) - Boosts all CPU cores to max turbo speeds. Intel Turbo boost - Usually boosts 1 CPU core to max turbo speeds. If I turn off Intel's Turbo boost, will Asus's MCE still boost my CPU cores to max turbo speeds? If so, does Intel's Turbo Boost need to even be enabled?
  20. I see. What would I do about future update patches to Windows 11? I’m assuming once I’m on W11 I still can’t use the Windows update right?
  21. I have an i7 7700k and the Asus IX Formula motherboard. Recently, Asus came out with a BIOS update for Windows 11 support but Microsoft says my CPU is incompatible with Windows 11 anyways. Is it worth still updating the BIOS? I usually try to do a yearly update on all my computer software (motherboard drivers, etc.) just so it’s up to date. Recently though I have noticed a lot of stuttering in all my games so not sure if a BIOS update would help with that too.
  22. There is a new BIOS update out but it says for Windows 11 support, although my i7 7700k isn't supported. Should I still update the BIOS? I recently noticed stuttering issues in all games I play.
  23. Build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VJPPHN So I built this PC and I've had it for about 4 years now and I've recently been noticing stuttering in all my games. I can't for the life of me remember if I downloaded my motherboard drivers, and I'm just planning to do a full-blown maintenance of my computer by reinstalling all motherboard drivers and using DDU to uninstall/reinstall my GPU drivers. My question is, is it safe to install all the drivers (including BIOS) on my motherboard's website? https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-maximus/rog-maximus-ix-formula-model/helpdesk_download Also, if I already did download the motherboard drivers when I first built my PC, will there be any harm if I redownload the drivers a second time? I'm not comfortable with uninstalling motherboard drivers first before reinstalling because I honestly don't know where all of them live.
