Hello one and all, I'm a fairly experienced PC Gamer, but I'm the worst when it comes to PC Maintenance. Last week I noticed my PC temps getting up to about 90 - 95 degrees fairhenheit so I decided to get some thermal paste and re apply it and all that jazz. So last night I popped my computer open, took the CPU fan off, cleaned the old stuff off with a microfiber cloth and some alcohol and reapplied the stuff. (I didn't use any well known brand, I used "Insignia Thermal Paste" and I hope thats not the cause of this) Ever since then, the $H#T has hit the fan. I got on my computer today and the temps apparently reached up to 150 Degrees fairhenheit, I've kept it off virtually all day because of that. But a friend of mine who helped me build my computer said that it's impossible for my chip to get that hot without turning itself off, I dont know the exact name of my chip off hand, all I know is that it's an intel quad core. If you guys have any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it because as of now my computer is inoperable.
