  1. Just put on NCIXs new video which includes the news of EVGA 10 series cards over heating and some even catching fire apparently. So that might be it but you didn't have an EVGA card so I'm not sure. They have released a bios update to fix it so I'll try that and hopefully that fixes it. I'm not sure though what counts as overheating for graphics cards? Been monitoring the temperature with CPUID HWMonitor and it's mostly between 55-70 degrees celcius, with the highest I've seen it be 82. Right now as I type this it's at 60.
  2. Okay it just happened again less than 30 minutes after it happened the last time, which is the first time it's happened more than once in a day. This time I had a youtube video open and it kept playing, I was even able to pause and replay it by clicking on where the video would be so it seems it's just the displays that go black, and video card fans to 100% but everything else keeps running.
  3. Did that fix it for you Delta? I tried reinstalling drivers yesterday and just had it happen again, opened up my PC and tried your take out the motherboard power connector and replug it in thing because I did have trouble getting it in when I built my PC and wasn't sure if it was in properly, so hopefully it is now. Unfortunately after doing that the first time I booted up my PC it booted to a black screen with a white line across it, restarted and it seems to have booted up find the 2nd try. This doesn't seem like it bodes well.
  4. Was about to make a thread, am having this exact same issue with an EVGA FTW DT I just got, first time it happened the fans didn't go to 100% but I think they were in no spin mode because I wasn't doing much, today I was gaming though and suddenly screens off and fans 100% Will try the driver thing too, but it didn't work for you?
  5. The Darkrock3 was actually what I was originally intending to buy, but ending up going H115i kind of last minute for a couple of reasons, Kind of regret it now but also kind of don't since I now have at least experienced it and know I won't ever do that again (unless my PC is going to be far from me and not right next to me) Anyway just ordered the darkrock3, less than double the price of replacing both fans with good ones from the store I go to, but I know this will work and be quiet. So problem over in a few days when that arrives.
  6. Ah okay thanks, will do that. Corsair SP 140 mm fans are find for cooling a radiator?
  7. I just built a new computer, in the build I went with corsair H115I AIO as the CPU cooler, part of this decision was because I thought water cooling was supposed to be a bit quieter. At first it was very loud but after installing the corsair link software and selecting quiet mode it's gotten a bit quieter, but still too loud for my liking (louder than my old computer with the stock heat sink even under load). The fans are spinning at about 1000 RPM, is this a normal speed for cpu fans? or could it maybe be the pump? Will buying better fans to attach to the radiator end up quieter?
  8. I considered the 1080, and I'm still debating going for a 1080 over a 1070 it's just the price jump isn't a small one. I decided to go with EVGA because I've heard good things about them (Though am not totally locked into EVGA), in Australian dollars the card I picked is $634 and the cheapest EVGA 1080 is is the 1080 FTW DT $1092, if I don't go EVGA the cheapest from a name I recognize is Asus Geforce 1080 Turbo at $999, with the actual cheapest being one by a company called Gainward at $883 but don't feel comfortable buying from a company I've never heard of. But if the 1070 would struggle I might go 1080 anyway, do you have any recommendations of what 1080?
  9. About to buy all this (got it in the cart already) but wanted to check with the LTT forums first to see if this is all fine or if you'd make any last minute changes. CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K CPU Cooler: Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 CPU CoolerMotherboard: Asus Z170 Pro Gaming GPU: GTX 1070 EVGA FTW DT 8GBMemory: 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX Black C16 2666MHzStorage: Samsung 950 Pro 256GB M.2 SSDStorage: Western Digital Black 2TBCase: Corsair Graphite 780T Black Full Gaming Tower with Side Panel Window Power Supply: Corsair RM750i 80Plus gold modular power supply Use case is bit of everything, I want a PC that can game but also handle other tasks like 3D modeling. I run 2x 4k Monitors (which are set 1080p at the moment as my current build is 6 years old) but plan on adding another monitor or two later, though not 4k ones. Definitely want a wide screen one above the two I have now, but I'll never be using more than one monitor to game on. Will the build I've put together handle all that nicely?
  10. Ah okay 2x8 right now seems like the way to go in that case then, thanks for the help!
  11. Ah thanks! One more question, if I choose to go 32GB (which may be overkill but 16GB was overkill when I bought my current build 6 years ago and now I kind of wish I had 16GB) is it better to go with 4x 8GB or 2x 16GB or doesn't really matter? Though I'm not sure on 32 or 16 yet and might just go with 16 to keep cost down a bit. anyway.
  12. Ah thanks. So Z170 is the chipset to go with in general?
  13. I haven't decided which one yet but I'll probably be going with an after market model.
  14. Ah thanks, I wasn't sure what watts to go with, I just knew 1000W was overkill so went for one a bit below that but 650W it is then. As for the motherboard, is the Z170-E a shortened version of the Z170-Extreme? I'm in Australia so my pricing is a bit different, the Z170-Extreme ranges from $225-$359 depending on if it's extreme4, 6+ or 7+ This is the site I'm using: https://www.pccasegear.com/category/138_1780/motherboards/intel-socket-1151
  15. Need a general purpose build that will be used for a bit of everything really, VR, 4K Gaming, 3D Modeling etc, no specific budget planned, I won't be buying it for a few months so have time to save but don't want to break the bank too much here. I have some idea for some of the parts but for others there are too many options and I'm not sure what to pick. I'd like to avoid water cooling and SLI, just more hassle than I'm willing to deal with. Anyway here is what I've got so far CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K CPU Cooler: ???Motherboard: ??? This one is the most confusing to pick, there seems to be so many with vastly differing prices. GPU: GTX 1070 Memory: 16GB or 32GB of DDR4.Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB SSDStorage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TBCase: Corsair Carbide 600C Inverse ATX Full Tower Case (Though might change this, was just one I came across that looks nice without being too pricey) Power Supply: Also not sure, looking at the Corsair RM750x Modular 80 Plus Gold That's what I've got so far, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also as I'm not buying this for a few months are there any releases incoming that I should look out for?
