  1. Suppose I go and buy one of those TV with the fake fps boosting screens (like Samsung 120 CMI).. would this make games that have a hard frame rate CAP of 60 appear more smoothly to the eye ? Obviously a real 144 hz gaming monitor wouldn't help due to the fps cap set by the game so I am just curious if this is a potential work around? If I am NOT MLG 360 no scope playing FPS shooter and therefore don't care for input lag. Would this work? And also.. What happens if the game lags and FPS drop in game. Will the TV still insert fakeo frames to compensate
  2. thx for all the replies! I didn't even know the game engine could be a limiting factor.. i guess upgrading would be a cointoss @ best then.. i3-4150 w/ hyperthread, 3.5ghz gtx 660 some small overclocks 8gb ram other standard stuff
  3. For all the MMO's out there, when you are standing in a crowded town with lots of other players (no fighting, just ppl afking/standing around), is the GPU or the CPU responsible for rendering all those other players on your screen? I have huge FPS drops when I am just standing around with a bunch of afk players but have no problem at all in an intense fighting scene, just wondering which part my PC is bottlenecking Thx!
  4. which of these TWO would you guys choose? I ONLY have the option to pick from those two, NOT ANY OTHERS. Thanks!
  5. Thanks guys, but i only have these two options right now, which would you pick?
  6. Hey guys, for a laptop that is mainly used for everyday web browsing, youtube, email, etc. Which of the two would you advise me to pick up? option 1: http://www.visions.ca/catalogue/category/Details.aspx?categoryId=714&productId=25855&sku=ES1511C0RB Option 2: http://www.visions.ca/catalogue/category/Details.aspx?categoryId=714&productId=27408&sku=ES1512C2FA Is paying the extra 20 dollars worth the upgrade to a quad core? Since I am not sure basic web browsing would benefit at all from the extra cores.. Thanks!!
  7. bump...? Anyone have any other ideas
  8. no keys on the original built-in keyboard work.. so f2, f8, f-anything wont work to get in BIOS... how do u even order a built in keyboard on a laptop.. wouldnt that just be the same thing as buying a brand new laptop?
  9. sorry shouldve said that better. I tried: 1. taking out battery and letting it just idle there with the power plugged in 2. Leaving battery AND plug in, letting it idle. there doesnt seem to be a countdown timer or anything, and its just stuck on this screen..
  10. so my laptop keyboard is currently broken. I have been using a USB wireless keyboard in its place right now im at the windows resume loader screen and my 2 options are 1. cont. w/ system resume 2. delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu the laptop does not seem to detect my USB keyboard at this stage of the startup, and without the original built-in keyboard, i can press enter to move away from this screen. Anything I can do? -tried to remove the batter and unplug the powerline.. doesnt seem to get rid of this screen (unless i didnt do it right)
  11. Now as far as I understand it, taring happens when your GPU outputs frames that mismatch your monitor's refresh rate. Eg: 140fps output on a 60hz display (correct me if wrong?) -I run a 60Hz display, playing a game that is LOCKED at 60fps MAX, how come I can still get taring ? thx in advance! o also, does turning on Vsync (NOT G-SYNC OR FREE SYNC) help at all with minimum FPS/smoothing out sudden dips in FPS?
  12. derailing my own thread, but come back! Il help u in game if you help me with hardware and performance lol
  13. already have a gtx 660 from EVGA in my build. OC'ed a little bit more myself on top of manufacture OC, so I think my GPU is enough to max most older games. It's just that in MMO where a bunch of people show up on the map eg: main city in a game, the framerate TANKS. I am assuming this is a CPU bottleneck?
  14. what are some good strong SINGLE core performance CPUs for older games that are never gona be able to use more than 1 core/thread? U know.. those old games that use the CPU to load everything instead of letting the GPU do it im thinking things like i3 4150 clocked at 3.5ghz since the price is decent and I HEARD that these have strong single core performance, but are there anything else out there ? AMD? Thanks in advance just in case someone here plays vindictus, you know what im talking about x.x
