  1. The last CPU I had to lap was an i5 2500k that was clocked at 4.2 with a prolimatech cooler. Here's the contact patch from a piece of glass with thermal paste spread over it pressed down on the CPU. The contact patch shown here is the inverse of what would be touching the cooler. I don't have the cpu any longer but after lapping my load temperatures dropped by about 8*C, however I don't think that most people would experience this kind of result from lapping unless their IHS was similarly warped.
  2. Rig Name: I Am Iron Man Cpu: i7 5820K @ 3.3 Gpu: EVGA 980Ti at 1452Mhz (Liquid cooled) Ram: 16gb at 2133 Mhz Steam VRTest Score: 11
  3. Hmm.... I found these, There's 5 open ports on this reservoir.... I might just keep filling ports until it looks like a light show... http://www.performance-pcs.com/primochill-clear-pmma-tower-plug-3-white-led.html
  4. Wired with an In-Line resistor Current ones are wired 12V to 330 Ohm Resistor, to LED 1 (3.1v) to LED 2(3.1v) to ground.
  5. I was thinking something like that, but I also think I would need brighter LED's. Light bleed is a huge issue after some experimentation. Do they make LED's higher than 3.1 V in a 5mm Form factor?
  6. So i'm doing some updates to Iron Man, and I'm trying to light the reservoir using a pair of 5mm 3.1v LED's wired in series with a 330 Ohm resistor on the 12V line. The final effect (using 2 plexi LED fittings) is unnoticeable in all reality. Part of the issue is that I have very bright case lighting in place already, so I really want the reservoir to glow brightly. Picture of what's going on now. My LED creation. Reservoir shots. Now my problem is twofold, I purchased the frosted reservoir because I figured it would look awesome lit up, giving a glowing effect inside the case. Without bright enough lighting it looks very out of place with the rest of the build. I feel like the transparent reservoir would look fine without lighting, but after all the work that went in to re-plumbing everything, redesigning the pump system, etc I really don't want to change the reservoir out again. So... Stupid bright lighting ideas anyone?
  7. Hardware store. I buy it in about a 4 foot by 5 foot sheet and cut it off as needed.
  8. Local shop has a laser cutter, find image, convert to vector, email and pay them $10 bucks for their time.
  9. Self etching primer then paint. Should be back up... See linus! that's how you crash a squarespace site.
  10. You need about 2 cm of straight pipe to get the fitting to play nice
  11. The memory came back from RMA!! So here's the final round of Pictures for this build. As always higher resolution photos can be found on my website at the following link. http://www.diluzio.us/#/bat-girl/ Let me know what you think! (PS, My wife loves it!!)
  12. It's on acrylic. I finished the real 24 pin extension. The cable management on the back isn't the greatest, but it's the best I could manage with a non modular power supply. Here's the loop filled and bled... The yellow Pops like crazy!. Purple lights to fit the theme, I'm using an RGB LED strip that the green burnt out on. The case has a nice even glow. Finally the window is in the side panel... The logo glows surprisingly well considering the glass isn't edge lit. Sadly one of my memory sticks died, so I'm waiting on an RMA, but I can still install windows and overclock the system with the one working dimm. When the new memory comes in I'll do the final glamour shots.
  13. I'm back from vacation! Just 2 pictures today. First up we got the window cut. Getting ready to fill the loop, ignore the white extension, i'm waiting for the final extension to come in.
  14. Also. after some tinkering here's some benchmarks! Stock clocks CPU @ 4.3 Gpu at 1450 Gpu 4000 Mem Temps were topping out at 68 (package) on CPU and 65 (core) Gpu.
  15. Thanks Gobumon (SP?) The bend was sadly more of a clearance issue than anything, If I made it 90* there wasn't enough straight tube to get a good seal on the fitting. I also do all my bends freehand.
