  1. I’ve decided I’d like to move away from iPhone and iOS and would like to move BACK to Android. But which of the two should I choose? I picked out the larger models as I do prefer the larger screen. Cheers guys.
  2. Ok, this is going to be a long shot, but here goes. I'm thinking about majorly condensing down my home cinema setup. While the sound that comes from the Q Acoustics 2000 series speakers is fantastic, all I have currently connected up to the Onkyo TX-NR626 AV Receiver right now is a PS4 and an Xbox One, so I can't see the point of still using it. I did have a PS2, PS3 and a 360 connected to it before then, when I needed all of those connections. I would like to change to a soundbar, but would one with Dolby Atmos built in work in the space I have (picture below)? The reason I'm asking is because this room (and in fact the whole upstairs area) is a loft conversion, hence the angled ceiling. If it would work, the plan is to eventually get a lower TV stand (from IKEA of course) and a proper, bigger 4k HDR TV (either Samsung or LG or something).
  3. Back in my early days of PC gaming and custom builds, I once had a system built by Cyberpower PC and was based on an AMD platform. It was powered by a Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition CPU and was cooled by a XSPC custom loop. This was my actual first true custom PC and it was the nuts back then! However, after the completion of Project A.Y.U in 2015, the pump in the old AMD system failed, causing the 1100T the overheat. It was dead... But now...for 2018...AMD is back. Welcome the Project Red Reboot! So this new build is going to (hopefully) be a 4k gaming powerhouse, based on AMD's Ryzen platform. I would do a parts list, like I did before with A.Y.U, but this time round I'll just show each component as I get them (and honestly, it was a pain in the a**e to edit the first post every time a new part arrived). Also last time, I got parts from several different suppliers, but this time I'll be ordering everything, unless otherwise stated, from Overclockers UK. Here's the first lot of components to wet one's PCMR appetite. The Asus ROG Crosshair VI Hero and the AMD Ryzen 1800X I do hope you all enjoy this revival journey with me.
  4. So, any good network switch will be fine? Like this one for example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/lve/NETGEAR-GS308-100UKS-Port-Gigabit-Ethernet-1000-Switch/B00AWM7PKO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1502127004&sr=8-3&keywords=8+port+gigabit+switch
  5. Bloody hell!! I over slept!! What did I miss?!?! Anyway, I'm looking at getting a network switch, one that can allow port prioritisation. For instance, streaming Wipeout Omega Collection on PS4, but prioritise my PC handle all the capture/streaming. I have been looking at the Netgear Nighthawk, but I do get the feeling that this one would be rather overpriced for what I need. What would you recommend? Cheers and I'm sorry for my rather lengthy absence.
  6. It's actually an Ikea MALM. http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00214181/ That plinth that the computer sits on was the pull-out panel. Both that and the audio shelf were made by my dad. They may be ugly by some, but they do their job very well indeed. Same can be said about the HD 598. They look ugly in terms of colour, but sound amazing. You are right in saying that this room IS a converted attic (it was my brother's bedroom before he moved out). But this being England, it doesn't get hot at all, even in the summer. It does get really bloody cold in the winter!!
  7. Sorry it's been a while, I haven't stopped since 9am this morning. But after all of that, this is end result of my labours. I know one of the cables is very out of place at the moment, but I will get it sorted.
  8. Motherboard and CPU Cooler installed. Even installed the hard drives.
  9. Standard fans out, Noctua fans in with a slight layout change. 2x NF-A14s in the front, 3x NF-F12s in the top, but the same NF-A14 in the back.
  10. Let the rebuild commence... After some more coffee ?
  11. And now time to prepare the new case.
  12. Compound cleaned from both CPU and cooler. Now for the first addition...
  13. System is now in bits. Coffee has been drunk and the dust is unreal!!
  14. Good morning. The system is ready to be stripped down. But first (as you can see in the bottom left corner) vital fuel is required ?
  15. Hello everyone...I'm back! Sorry, I couldn't resist the Kojima reference. Anyway, this is Project A.Y.U v2.0, an updated version of the current build I did over a year ago. All I'm going to be doing is making a few changes and additions. So in short, same system, just with a few different parts. And with that, here is the parts list (parts in bold are additions): Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX - Galaxy Silver RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600Mhz - White HDD: Western Digital Blue Series 4TB PSU Cables: CableMod E-Series Custom Sleeved PSU Cables - Black and White Lighting: NZXT HUE+ Advanced PC Lighting Kit I will also be adding two additional USB PCI/PCIe cards. One 5 port (4 external, 1 internal) USB 2.0 card and one 4 port (3 external, 1 internal) USB 3.0 card. The reason for these two is simple. This machine will be VR Ready (I'm still torn between the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift). The re-build will start this Thursday and I will be logging every step. Why Thursday? Well...I'm going on a trackday to Snetterton on Wednesday (2 hour drive at 5AM) and I need some practice. So until then, here's a picture of those parts to wet your appetite.
  16. I take it from everyone else's silence, I can't...
  17. I doubt I can send it back to Scan either.
  18. Just tried this, didn't work. Every other device works just fine.
  19. This is just something that I find a bit strange. For several months, my AT2020USB+ has worked fine. It still does, but it's no longer being recognised as "AT2020USB" on either mine or my dad's PC, or even my PS4. It's now showing up as "USB PnP Audio Device." It's also been cutting out intermittently, especially when recording. My old Blue Snowball microphone still shows up as "Blue Snowball" just fine and works fine (even though the outer shell is cracked). Is there any way I can get the AT2020USB+ being recognised properly again? Cheers
  20. Even at the price of £29.99, I'm interested in the game. How about you?
