I don't mind getting the custom cables from http://www.bluejeanscable.com/ I'm sure those would be real nice and last a long time. Only thing is, I'm ordering out of Europe

I have one more question. On the the HS7 product page (http://usa.yamaha.com/products/music-production/speakers/hs_series/hs7_white/?mode=model) it says the input is "balanced". The cable description (http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-Cable-HOS-CPR201-Dual/dp/B000068O16) reads: This cable is designed to connect gear with stereo unbalanced phone jacks to gear with stereo phono jacks. It is ideal for connecting pro audio gear to consumer audio components What exactly does that mean? Are they referring to stereo/non-stereo? Would this be an issue?

Thanks so much! I really appreciate all your feedback! I've been looking to do this upgrade for a while. You finally made it possible

Thanks man. Just bought the Shiit Modi 2 Uber. Now I have to look for cables. Would you mind sending me a reference link so I can make sure I get the right ones?

Dear all, I'd like to take the next step in the audio world. Within that world I'm still fairly new and would love your thoughts and feedback. I'm looking to buy the Yamaha HS7 http://usa.yamaha.com/products/music-production/speakers/hs_series/hs7_white/?mode=model .. as well as an Amp /DAC. My questions boil down to: - What are some good options for Amp/DACs (around $200-$350) ..? - .. that will let me connect my PC to the HS7s? - What do I need? And how do I connect these components? Thank you for having a look!

@TheRunningOtaku @AlwaysFSX Could it be an issue of having bought a "4x8 quad channel kit" and not "two 2x8GB dual channel kits"? -

I tried that. Any reason you'd say that? -
Hey guys, Just put together a new build. Everything is great, but I can't seem to get my memory to run at 2400mhz. 4x8GB Kingston Beast http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KHX24C11T3K2_8X.pdf Mobo is the Asus Maximus Formula VII http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VII_FORMULAWATCH_DOGS/ 4790k http://ark.intel.com/products/80807/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_40-GHz I feel like I've tried everything. The system boots fine at 1333mhz. Booting in XMP Profile #1 leaves me at a black screen after saving and exiting the bios. Sadface

i7-4790K - looking for ideal Mobo and RAM
nyden replied to nyden's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I'm in a position that would make it difficult to wait. however, this should be a good investment. Realistically, how much waster would X99 and DDR4 really be than the set up we are discussing here..? There are all these questions: How good will the first batch of these new components really be? Won't it be a while until the performance of the new standard is realized? If I were to upgrade in about 3 years, would I still fly well with the current generation? Is the new technology initially going to be quite a bit more expensive? How would these two set-up compare cost-to-performance-wise? Again waiting 3 or 4 months is difficult for me at the moment, but if the performance jump justifies the wait ..? Generally, I feel like buying the second generation of something is a much better purchase than the "prototype" - or first generation, wouldn't you say? @DIV1D3 @SpyRosL- 15 replies

i7-4790K - looking for ideal Mobo and RAM
nyden replied to nyden's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Thanks so much for your feedback! I'll look into everything and get back to you! I know it doesn't make a huge difference, but I'd love to get some RAM that's at least 2133 or 2400 .. Any ideas?- 15 replies

I have a Noctua NH-D14 I might stick with if the RAM fits. If not I may swap that as well.- 15 replies
