  1. Thanks for the reply. Would you have any idea where I can locate these settings, and do you think this will successfully resolve the issue?
  2. Hi, As many others, I have issues with my system not booting up at all and have to fiddle around with the PSU etc. before the system even powers on. This is a real struggle and always happens once I unplug the power from the PC. Apparently a known issue to the Z97 Extreme4 from ASRock. However, when I eventually get the PC to turn on and when I am done using it, I power it off. Randomly, the system boots up on it's own in the middle of the night and I wake up, hearing the fans starting to spin. Why is it doing this and what can I do to stop it from happening in the future? It does not boot on the same specific time but it can boot up several times during one day. This motherboard is beyond a joke at this stage.
  3. Hi guys, Yesterday I finished building a PC. It started up just fine and the install of windows was effortless. However, I ran in to a couple of issues. Before I tell you about them, it may be important that you take a look the the specs of the PC below: Case: CoolerMaster Silencio 550 Mobo: ASRock Z97 Extreme4 Intel Z97 So.1150 Dual Channel DDR3 ATX Retail Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H80i PSU: 650 Watt Corsair RM Series Modular 80+ Gold SSD: 500GB Samsung 840 Evo Series 2.5" HDD: 2000GB WD Green WD20EZRX Intellipower 64MB RAM: 16GB (2x 8192MB) G.Skill RipJawsX DDR3-2133 DIMM CL9-11-11-28 Dual Kit CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K 4x 4.00GHz So.1150 Issues: #1: When powering up the PC, the fans starts spinning like a tornado, producing INCREDIBLY loud noises. I have another custom built PC in the house that I built previously and it is not even close to the noise this machine makes. After about five seconds they wound down again but I can still hear them spinning clearly. When I but a finger to the top of the case, I can feel the whole case vibrating. What may be causing this? PSU loose fit? Something with the cooler? #2 When I attempt to plug USBs or w/e in to the back of the PC, while it is on, I get small shocks when accidentally touching the I/O shield. WTF? Sidenote: I had to mount the watercooler pump upside-down for it to fit in the case. Doubt this has anything to do with it all? ANY feedback appreciated.
  4. Will be rolling with the intergrated graphics until the need for real GPU power is needed.
  5. So, I've now, just before purchase, I want to make sure everything will be working smoothly. Here is what I have: http://i.imgur.com/CttvdJ7.jpg Do all parts work together? Was looking for an ASUS z97-A mobo but as they were out of stock I picked one with a good price and good ratings on the site. Please share any recommendations and opinions. Cheers!
  6. Thanks for the feedback guys, I have made a preliminary build. What are your thoughts? See image below
  7. Some excellent tips guys, appreciate all the effort! So, should I go with a 6-core CPU? And just a cheap graphics card? What are your takes on RAM? CL9, CL10? mhz?
  8. I think she has all music gear needed already with her current setup. However, if you have specific tips for external amps or sound cards etc. they are all welcome. If any games will be played, it would most likely be in the web browser.
  9. Hi guys, So my girlfriend is having a hard time choosing between an iMac or building her own PC (which obviously means that I will be building it) for music production. She has been leaning towards PC lately since I just built mine and it works very well, as well as me continuously telling her she will get more value for money when going with a PC. However, I need your input on what hardware we should go for. Software that will be used on the machine are, but not limited to, Ableton, including large VSTs such as Massive, Slynth1, Nexus etc. The budget for the PC itself is around €1300. I will be using www.mindfactory.de for the purchase. Any recommendations are welcome! Thanks lads.
  10. At this stage, I just want to give closure to the thread. After my third(!) GPU arrived, everything seems to be working as it should. Conclusion: I should have waiter for the GTX 970 and stick with that. Unfortunately my retailer would not refund the money but rather sent out a new 290. And by the way, I tested the second replacement with another monitor and a totally new PC, and the issue persisted. So troubleshooting was done.
  11. The result of the brand new card, "straight from the factory" http://youtu.be/oSZpupCchNQ
  12. So the flickering is now severely worse and I have, just now this morning, already run in to two blackscreens... Will send it back, wait another two weeks and get an NVIDIA card.
  13. So the new card just arrived yesterday and as I boot my PC up today the exact same issue occurs. What the fuck will I do?
  14. I have one fan on my radiator, and it is connected to CHA_FAN 1, so a case fan. The block is, at least what I can feel, up against the CPU tightly. Never touched the compound so I could not tell you. This is how my BIOS looks like http://i.imgur.com/yIJZcUl.jpg Should I create a custom fan profile for the radiator fan?
